Fantastic lower end budget TV. Probably the lowest you can spend and get this deep of blacks. As well as an actual HDR TV. Not the "HDR" at alot of budget TV's have that is useless and better to just turn off

It's a 5 so far. Sharp sharp picture. Great contrast. Blacks are dark and detailed and the brights are crisp. The motion depends on the source as usual, and 24p plays smooth. The Roku part is nice and it is good to see Dolby Atmos pass through to the receiver. The 4k looks very good. I need to rewatch all my movies now.

Have had no dissapointments since picking this up! Variable refresh rate support, with two inouts that do 4k at 120hrz. Performs way better than anything else in this orice point, and was a huge upgrade over my older Samnsung 4k. Glad i didnt have to spend 1500 bucks for this quality of picture for gaming and 4k movies.

I bought this TV knowing that its Google TV software was likely to be buggy, but part of me hoped they'd have ironed out the wrinkles by now. Sadly, they have not caught all of them.
The TV is gorgeous, and I've greatly enjoyed watching Netflix and playing PS5 on it. It looked superb out of the box and I didn't have to fiddle around with any settings to get a great picture. No issues there whatsoever.
Here and there, however, the OS will start doing goofy things like quitting out of apps for no reason or getting caught in a reboot loop that requires me to power down the TV and turn it back on again. It's a minor annoyance and is not a big enough deal to return the TV or anything like that, especially for the Black Friday price I got this thing at.
Overall, I like this TV a lot and have enjoyed using it for streaming and gaming. I hope they work out the kinks of the Google TV software (and note I do not blame TCL for this).

The TCL R646 is excellent for most uses. It's impressive for watching movies in a dark room thanks to its fantastic contrast ratio, and it has a Mini LED local dimming feature to improve dynamic range. It's great for watching TV shows or sports in a bright room because it has fantastic peak brightness and excellent reflection handling, but it has narrow viewing angles. It's also an impressive TV for gaming thanks its variable refresh rate support, HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for 4k @ 120Hz gaming, and low input lag. Lastly, it's impressive for watching HDR content because it displays a wide color gamut and gets bright enough to make highlights pop.
Pro's:
Fantastic contrast for deep blacks.
High peak brightness in SDR and HDR.
Excellent reflection handling, so glare isn't distracting.
HDMI 2.1 bandwidth on two inputs.

This TV challenges the OLED game!

I have had this tv for 2 months now and I LOVE IT!! I cannot believe how good Mini LED is. I did not want to break the bank and spend over $1000 on a good OLED but I saw this in a store and lost my mind. This is the closest you will get to OLED quality! The blacks are so deep that sometimes you won't even know the TV is on. 120fps VRR has blown my mind as a 30fps gamer for most of my life, and now I can't go back. Speakers are okay but I got a soundbar and it changed everything. Watching movies on this very vibrant and bright display is out of this world. If you want OLED quality on a budget, GET THIS TV! The picture quality is mind-blowing.

While the value for the picture is solid, I can’t recommend this TV with google OS. I have the same TV, but with the ROKU OS and it is a drastically better experience. The google tv experience is often glitchy. Whether it’s apps requiring a restart to work, the whole tv rebooting, or google assistant not working…it’s often something and that something is usually annoying.

I had finally set up this TV for Christmas after having it sit in the box for past 3+ weeks. During that time I had grown nervous and skeptical due to all the poor reviews and TV being removed from Best Buy for 2 weeks due to having issues. I could not be more pleased with this purchase so far. The picture is amazing. So bright and colorful. The blacks are very deep and the picture is crisp. Definitely the best picture I have had in my home. The software is taking some getting used to. Has somewhat of a learning curve. So far it is quite worth it. Have not had any crashes or issues with the software. I have it connected via ethernet instead of wifi so that may have helped prevent any issues. I cant wait to get to know all the things this tv is capable of.

Incredible brightness and super sharp image makes this a steal! I prefer this over an OLED in my environment. The colors and black levels are incredible. I don't use the internal apps since I have a Roku Ultra so I can't comment on the software. Highly recommended!

Bright and displays colors well. I want more deeper blacks though. Has a lot of settings to make adjustments. Also goes into Dolby mode depending on the streaming service and specific content. Sound is great, and I don't think it needs a sound bar. It is heavy and best to have two people to carry it. Bezel is thin. Great size for indoor theater. Comes with all the apps including apple tv. Good quality for the price.

I returned a Hisense U7G that had terrible deformities in the panel that were totally unacceptable. I picked this up after my return for a few extra bucks and wow I’m glad I did. Uniformity, local dimming, contrast and brightness are all much better. Motion in gaming is super smooth and I had no issues on my PS5 or XSS with VRR.
Colors out of the box are beautiful, comparative to the panel of the U7G I had. In dark scenes the local dimming does a fantastic job and I notice little to no blooming. HDR / SDR content looks amazing, watching movies on this thing is an absolute treat.
UI is okay - remote is just okay. Really can’t think of any cons!

Great TV. Only problem is with Google TV OS not letting me turn off the Dolby IQ vision. When a program is sent with that it selects it and you cannot change it to something better. It looks like video or old soap operas... with great color.

Price to performance is great. For gaming it can do up to 4K 120hz with VVR (variable refresh rate). Which pairs great with ps5, Xbox, and pc gaming. Has low input lag for gaming. Has great hdr options. I love having Dolby vision. Mini led with full array is great but not as good as high end TVs. But hard to find anything better at this price. Google tv is one of the better smart platforms but does have some problems. Has good out of box color calibration but could be better. I have the tv for a month and had no problems.

Beautiful picture, great HDR capabilities and I do like Google’s software since my previous TV is a slow, older Samsung. I can put VPN apps directly on my TV which I appreciate. My only criticism is that the Variable Refresh Rate while using my PS5 is effectively useless. It constantly flashes in and out of finding the input and I’m assuming its because the frame rate is changing so frequently the TV isn’t able to keep up seamlessly. If youre spending $800 - $1000 on this TV for the VRR, I would look elsewhere but there is definite value there if VRR is something you don’t care about. I got mine for $500 open box so I would consider that an absolute steal.
