Worked For 10 minutes

I'm still waiting on TCL to fix the TV, but those 10 minutes were glorious.

Kept going black screen

It would just not turn on, or maybe was on but a black screen. I did a hard reset and it worked for a few days. It blacked out a second time and I returned it and bought a Samsung.

Terrible Picture

No matter what settings we used, the picture was blurry and motion was very obvious. I would not recommend purchase of this TV. We returned it.

Don’t buy it

TV arrived damaged

Unfortunately, the TV arrived damaged. I was looking forward to trying this out, but am a little concerned these may be fragile.

Bad tv

TV was cracked

No Bluetooth for headphones

Excellent picture and sound quality, actually, I have to tune down the brightness and contrast from the factory presetting to make it easier for the eyes. 2. There is no Bluetooth for connecting headphones, and the remote control removed the good old headphone jack that was on regular Roku controller ( but you can pair your old Roku controller with the new TV). 3. The Roku system won't display Asian fonts correctly ( Roku, please upgrade your system! ) Over all, a good TV set for the money.

65" Series 8. The best tv I've ever owned.

Wanted to give it time for any problems to show up. Well to be frank there hasn't been a single problem. The clarity and brightness of this unit is unsurpassed. I've had numerous relatives and visitors exclaim what an amazing picture this has. I've watched 8k videos from YTube on it and they are simply stunning. Let me say it again. This tv is BRIGHT. I read and watched many reviews from the "pros" but they were nearly all done when this tv first appeared. There were a few little settings and bugs that needed to be tweaked and I think the factory did this on subsequent releases of their tvs. Consequently, the new tvs are vitually problem free. I do feel bad for a the few who have gotten problematic tvs as these do happen due to manufacturing and shipping problems. Without a doubt, this is the finest tv set I've ever owned. I was able to get it when it was on sale and at the discounted price, it was a great buy. Highly, highly recommended.

The TCL and OLED appeared to have the same deep black level, no blooming around white text. The TCL, on a 100% white screen showed a very faint dimmer area around the edges, however, this may have been the source. The TCL was much brighter than the OLED on bright scenes, and had very good detail in dark shadowy scenes. To be honest, other than the brightness being better, I could not see any difference between the OLED and this unit with microLED backlighting. The picture was awesome on both units, but the TCL looked better in bright room. Just saw there was no review yet, so for those not close to a store to get an in person demo, I thought I would pass this along.

Great visuals, but software is horrendous.

Black screens, slow or no response to remote. First time turning this on it blew my mind visually. Then within 3 months I had to have some internal board replaced because the software kept malfunctioning (turning off, black screen and sound, no response to remote) Worked fine for a year then happened again, by then I'm out of warranty. Software issues kept on until I got fed up and switched to sony.

Looked at every critique good and bad... can’t find why there is a single negative review.., ( I’m not a gamer so I have no opinion on that use.) This tv is bright. Set up easy. Adjusted the picture. New Apple TV set up was a breeze. Roku simple enough. After setting up picture settings the way I wanted , I opened up an HDR YouTube video Perfect blacks. If there is “blooming” it was very minor. I didn’t see any black crush in dark scenes. The sound is awesome for a TV. It has Atmos coming out of the TV. This TV is breathtaking. Even standard cable channels. The stand is heavy metal and sturdy, no wobble. Seriously.. buy this tv. Out of the box it blew away my still awesome 50 plasma 1080p. I bought the 65. No possibility of buyers remorse... the picture is that good.

Awesome TV I just don't like Roku OS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly TCL did a lot better in the mini LED TV introduction then another company I won't mention >>(S.m.u.g)<< did and they're supposed to be #1. So I do want to congratulate TCL on caring more not just about the product but about the consumer. There not SMUG about it either. Honestly if TCL would get away from the crappy Roku OS I would happily own a TCL. But I absolutely completely dislike the Roku OS. But their picture quality for Mini LED is rivaled by nobody so far And what you get for what you pay is incredible. I got a TCL for my grandmother which suits her just fine.. if PCL ever does get away from Roku I'll be jumping on board

MiniLED FTW!!

The MiniLED backlighting system produces blacks that are incredible, which creates incredibly impressive contrast levels. The quantum dots produce excellent color gamut coverage. The brightness is absolutely top-notch, far exceeding nearly all current LCD and OLED displays. The sound quality is mediocre at best, but That won’t matter for most people buying this TV. Highly recommend this TV.

Quality control/software issues and no support

Regular 4K SDR video looks great, some of the best I've seen on any tv. However, anything in HDR is so dark it is unwatchable. Not only dark, the dynamic contrast is enabled even though it shows disabled in the settings. Even slight movement in a scene causes the brightness to flicker so badly the screen starts flashing. Even in daylight scenes, the colors are completely washed out and hazy. This happens regardless of the source. Built in Roku apps or multiple external devices connected through high speed HDMI cables and confirmed HDMI 2.0 inputs are all the same. It's not limited to HDR either, the software in general is very buggy. Pausing a video will cause the volume to cut out. The only way to get it back is to turn the tv off and back on again. Picture settings are usually not saved, either. Every time the tv is turned on Motion Smoothing is re-enabled and the various modes are either reset or changed. I tried a new series 6 tv prior to this and it had all of the same issues. After an hour on the phone with TCL support, their only response was "your tv is working the way it is supposed to". They said it's not possible to disable an HDR signal and told me to change the picture settings. They refused to log it as a software or quality control issue. I'm not sure how the "professional" reviews have scored it so high but there are serious issues with the products in stores. Both of these tv's are going to be returned.
