Deep colors and blacks. Very impressive for not being an OLED. Gaming looks and feels great.

Great TV for $999, not worth much more at all.

I got this TV on sale for $999. At that price, I find it to have an excellent picture with a little fine tuning. However, the shiny surface of the screen reflects everything behind you. I find that very odd in a supposedly high end set. The remote is garbage. It doesn't even have number keys for direct channel selection when watching broadcast TV. The remote on my LG TV had a pointer you could use by pointing and clicking. With this remote, you have to click click click over and click click click up and down to make selections. It's a pain in the neck. The buttons are also not embossed or raised so you can't really tell what you are pressing without looking. The stand takes up so much room, I had to balance my sound bar on it and the soundbar blocks reception of the remote. The little subwoofers on the back of the set are inline with the screw holes for the mounting brackets so you have to find a specific size bracket if you want to wall mount the TV. The sound adjustments are rather limited and I narely notice any difference in the different pre-canned sound settings. I find the sound leveling capabilities to be very poor. I am back to getting blasted by commercials or when changing sources. My previous TV (LG Nanocell 9 series) magically leveled the sound over all sources. I wish this TV did as well. If I had to pay any more than $999, I would most likely be very disappointed in this TV. Its main redeeming factor is a beautiful and bright picture with very deep blacks and amazing color, providing the source is very high resolution. The TV does a horrible job of displaying lower resolution pictures.

    65” Mini-LED Comparison Purchase

It was time to replace a 10 year old LG 50” and after researching TLC and Hisense mini-led TVs, I drove an hour to the closest Best Buy to see them in person before making a decision. I had already decided that 65” was the largest for the room and $1100 was the most I wanted to spend. It was between the Hisense U8 and the TCL QM8K. Prices were comparable so it was down to visual preference. The TCL won out because in standard mode, the TCL was brighter and contrast was better in my eyes. The room it was going into is bright during the day so screen brightness was important. Now that the TV has been in our home for two weeks, I am very pleased with my decision. Although it was not the final factor, the TCL was on sale for $100 less. BTW, sound quality was not a factor since I run a streaming box into an AV receiver.

This TV has an amazing picture and the colors are so vibrant and the blacks are just as black as my Sony OLED. I was very hesitant to believe that the picture quality could be as good as an OLED, but I must say I’m a believer.

Sharp, bright tv. Great reflection handling. Great off angle viewing. Quick responsive. I could go on, but for my purpose, worth every dollar . Best Buy always takes care of their purchases. I wouldn't buy a TV anywhere else.

I’m a long time Sony owner and this is my first TCL purchase. I’ve had the QM8K for a week and can say without reservation that it is one of the best value TV purchases on the market. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing in relation to the price. For sports viewing, gaming and even movie watching, I give this model a 5 star recommendation. Yes, the black levels are not on par with the latest OLED screens but that should matter to only really discerning customers. I also believe Google TV is the best TV operating system on the market. Do yourself a favor and switch to apps only mode. The sound is average but aren’t they all?

This tv is amazing, the sound, clarity, picture and brightness. Easy to set up. The tv does produce some heat from the screen but not too bad. I have watched movies, played games and I am so glad that I purchased this tv. Highly recommend.

Upgraded from a 4k LG LED. The picture on this TCL is phenomenal. The reason for the 4 star rating is because the EARC HDMI port is 2.0. I knew this going in but it still is not quite as functional as I had wished. It works fine with only the Apple TV connected to the receiver but, a gaming console connected to the receiver would cause me to lose earc capability when just watching the TV. That is because the receiver would have to be connected to an HDMI 2.1 port on the TV and sound coming from the TV would have to use the optical port. When I have guests and if the TV comes on, everyone comments on how great the picture is. I do not use and I have never heard sound from the TV. Sound has alwsys gone through the receiver.

The TCL QM8K is a really great-looking TV that punches well above its weight. It has a premium, high-end feel from the front, even though it’s a little thick on the back. Google TV runs fast and smoothly and feels like a nice, modern inclusion rather than an afterthought. The TV gets very bright, which makes HDR content pop and works great in well-lit rooms. For the specs you’re getting, the price point is honestly very good, making the QM8K an excellent value overall.

Great TV - Great out of the Box

The TCL QM8K is great TV in terms of out of the box accurate color bright whites and deep blacks. The Google OS gave us everything we needed to interface with our antenna/apps/streamers. Because of that we didn’t need a streaming box and the only cable coming from the TV was the power cord. 1080P and 4K sports and movies are GREAT on this TV. Our only negative was the fact this type of TV gives a "tail" effect to a thrown football. This is a known issue related to motion blur. and common on most LED TVs. The QM8K does allow you to make changes in the settings to minimize the “tail”.

The TV image and sound are great. Color and brightness are the best you can get for the money. Only disappointment was with the Google platform, which might not be an issue for some. I prefer the UI experience and voice assistance from Roku and Fire. I also enjoy Pluto app, which Google says is not compatible.

The TV is great, the colors and especially sound is awesome. I think this TV is the sweet spot between an OLED and non-OLED (good for the price). Thanks to great local dimming for the most part black areas on the screen remain black, while you don't have the issue of dead pixels with OLED TVs in this range. Works great with docked ROG ALLY and Xbox. Also, it supports VRR which is very good for gaming. The picture quality and motion smoothness is breath taking. I have a 32inch OLED Alienware monitor for gaming and work, and this is totally comparable to that iMO. Almost forgot to mention, I have a living room with two side windows and plenty of sun light. This TV doesn't care. You can see the picture regardless of how bright your room is.

Great color and brightness. Some blurring of blue colors when panning, but not a huge problem. Great black colors. The screen is shiny but not horrible. Bright lights will affect viewing. Viewing angle is reduced from OLED, but works for me. Sound is good, but a sound bar is the best option. Good TV for $1500, but don't pay more than that.

This is the best TV I have ever owned and I paid the least for. I have always settled for the big name brand TVs and my TV only lasted me five years. So I decided to get this TV for Christmas and it has the best picture, Even better than my other TV which cost me twice as much. I’m very very happy with this purchase, can’t say enough.
