Received a few days ago. Go to web sites like AVS forums and find the QM8 thread then go to the last page and read in reverse from there. There is an official firmware update to this TV that isn't being pushed through to all TVs, version 295 as of this writing, the thread has the link to the file... update the TV to get rid of the already minor macroblocking, and upgrade the 4k upscaling... the update is significant and makes this TV nothing less than glorious. I have the 85 inch model, and have never been happier. Best Buy delivered in 2 days in perfect condition, box wasnt even scratched. Once the colors are dialed in, which you can also get the settings for in the same online thread, this TV will make you want to stay home. TCL hit a grand slam with this one. Now aren't you glad you read reviews?

Had to Replaced our 75" TCL r646 which was great, after just a year because the kids broke the screen. We toughed it out with our old plasma and Waited a couple months for the qm8 release and it was worth the wait. At this price point I highly recommend going with the biggest screen size for your viewing area. My regular seat is 15' from the TV and the 85" is perfect. We're Super happy with the picture quality and performance so far. Anti reflection could be a bit better, but as long as you dont have a lamp right beside or behind you facing the tv you should be fine. The screen gets bright enough to over power reflections if needed. Highly recommend this tv. Good job TCL!

OLED is the absolute best for realism but this amazing QLED comes very close while having the brightness of LED. I never saw streaming in HDR like this from my old non-HDR 4K TV. Blu Ray looks amazing. I'm jumping for joy.

This is a great TV, both snappy fast and also able to produce a great picture. I love the variation in brightness from the high level on HDR to power saving low because I have sensitive eyes. I didn't game on it yet, nor use it's internal speakers because it's on surround sound, but I love it and would totally recommend

The TCL QM8 is like that buddy who’s always up for a movie night. Picture this: you’re in your cozy den, popcorn in hand, and the QM8 kicks in with its dazzling brightness (thanks to those fancy Mini LEDs). Boom! HDR effects and contrast hit you like a cinematic tidal wave. But here’s the catch: it’s not the MVP for sports. Uniformity issues? Yeah, they’re there. Still, if you’re all about movie magic, the QM8’s got your back.

Great TV for the price. I got it at a promotional price from Best Buy for $2199 85 inch. I saw the reviews that said that this TV is bright. They are not kidding. This TV is super bright that we had to adjust the brightness level to around 25-30 just so we will not be blinded during the night. If you have a bright room, this is the unit for you. Blacks are also OLED quality. I am very happy with the purchase I made and I hope that you guys will be too.

This TV is AMAZING!! The best bang for your buck if you are looking for a new tv that won’t break the bank. Don’t let the excellent prize fool you, the picture quality is top tier and blacks are soooo deep. Such a bright picture that you for sure have to decrease the brightness in a dark room, but colors just pop. My only gripe with this tv is the Google interface, it’s not as smooth and good as previous Roku models but it gets the job done.

Excellent picture! Great sound for a television. Very bright! Contrast is OLED like. If you’re looking for a tv that is bright with very deep blacks and colorful for a great price, look no further the TCL QM8 Mini Led TV. I own a 65 inch Samsung Q90R One Connect which is gorgeous! I believe the picture is just as good if not better.

I never thought I would say this but I actually like qm8 picture better than my Lg C1 oled. The brightness of qm8 is unbelievable!!! I’m not saying MINI LED technology is better than OLED. I just prefer it. I cannot rate the sound because, I always get a sound bar with any purchase of a new tv.

Only installed for 3 weeks, so I may need to return to this review and update it later, but overall we are very pleased with the capabilities and picture with this TV. The one problem we encountered is the very reflective screen surface. Initially we had it set up at true vertical on it's (non-adjustable) stand sitting on a relatively low console, In fact one of the reasons we picked this model was its centered stand that would fit our console while most other 85+" TVs had twin legs too far apart to work for us. Unfortunately, at true vertical we got reflections of all the room's ceiling lighting on the screen's glass. That forced us to buy a tilting wall mount (Note: It requires a 600x600 mount that will support at least 120 lbs, and there are very few mounts that can expand to 600x600), and then pay for another Geek Squad visit to mount it higher on the wall with a tilt to elimate the ceiling lights' reflections. Although we have yet to figure out all the TV and remote's capabilities, we do like the verbal commands button on the remote that lets us just verbalize what we are looking for and it (usually) finds it for us. The audio quality is OK, but we will undoubtedly add a full surround sound system to enhance this huge screen's experience in the future.

Fantastic TV. Tremendous value. Note the unusual wall mount pattern before buying tv mount--a little frustrating, but there are a few that fit. When people see the picture, it often evokes "whooooa." You will like this.

Happy with purchase, TV is HUGE. Took a few days to get used to coming from a 65 inch TV before, but am ecstatic with the TV and picture. Great new addition to the living room. Super easy to set up out of the box.

Was concerned about the upscaling but couldn't justify the price $900 price difference between this TV and the Samsung. I have no Complaints about this TV picture quality is great even cable TV looks good streaming services look great.

Tv is amazing for the price. The features you get are unmatched. Gaming, movies, sports all loom fantastic. And the size is amazing. Cool backlit remote, easy to use Google interface. Oled like blacks. If you want a tv with a WOW factor this is it. I have an LG oled and the TCL stacks up.

Really wanted to love this tv. It has some great qualities, the blacks are very deep but they tend to crush. The highlights are too bright and in a dark room will make your eyes water. The brightness is insane, but it’s not used well and hurts the eyes. The motion processing is terrible and no matter how much judder reduction is used movies appear choppy in fast scenes. A still image with high contrast is OLED like, but for the majority of content the image struggles due to poor processing and color mapping. The latest firmware v295 update addressed some issues, but it’s not enough to make watching this tv enjoyable. I would wait until TCLs next launch and hope these issues are resolved, or look to a purchase the Sony xl90 for a better viewing experience.

The tv is a fantastic replacement. It’s colors are sharp and sound is clear. We are very happy.

I have owned the 6 series since they were born. This QM8 could have been the best mini-led tv this year, had TCL paid attention to the processing, upscaling, and quality control. Some of these 85" TVs are totally blurry, and some are much better. I had to return mine because it was unwatchable in SDR (SLING, YOU TUBE TV, HULU+LIVE, CABLE). It's a pity because black levels and contrast are fantastic on this tv. Even HDR was a little blurry, but not as blurry as SDR. Unfortunately, the next step up to get some sharpness and proper upscaling is the Sony X95L which costs double. TCL PLEASE FIX YOUR PROCESSING AND QC.

Coming from a guy who owns 2 LG OLED C Series and can sincerly tell you, that This QM8 is really the truth. The picture quality and brightness with such awesome colors are a beauty. The blacks can rival both my LG Oleds. Highly recommend to pick one up and don’t overpay for a Samsung or a Sony. I’m extremely happy with my new 85 inch TCL QM8.

After some issues with my Samsung S95c and BB messed up my order on my LG G3, I had to return my G3 and start my order from scratch. At the time my plan was to rebuy the G3, however the 85 inch QM8 was released and mentally it was hard to justify spending $4,800 on another G3, decided to give this a go. WOW! After not owning a LCD TV in 9 years, this TV blew me away. It featured everything I could want in a TV, it was 85 inches and supported all nearly everything - Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+, DTX Audio, Dolby Atmos, etc. It was a super bright TV, after watching it I finally understand why people have such an issue with OLED TVs being "dim." I spent several weeks looking for blooming on this TV and I never once saw any and I use a lot of subtitles and have been watching a lot of K-Dramas lately and this TV performed brilliantly. I also loved how they had 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, but unlike everyone else they put the eArc Port onto it's own port. So if you truly have 2 ports that are dedicated to gaming. I'm not a super gamer, but really enjoyed playing games on this TV. I spent several weeks looking for blooming on this TV and I never once saw any and I use a lot of subtitles and have been watching a lot of K-Dramas lately and this TV performed brilliantly. Sound was amazing, It had really good balance of Base and the virtual surround really worked! It could get pretty loud. I watched this TV for 3 days before I realized my Soundbar was actually turned off. Best TV sound experience I ever had and this is coming from someone who has had several high end OLEDs. As far as going from 77 inch to 85 inches, I was disappointed. I didn't really have the same wow factor that I did when I first went from 55 to 65 then to 77. I was blown away by the increased sizes in those jumps. But 85 was meh... I don't think I'd ever pay a huge price difference to get an 85 over a 77 inch TV. The price to performance on this TV was brilliant. Now everything can't be perfect and there were two major flaws to this TV - one it doesn't use a standard Vesa Mount so none of the 3 "Universal" mounts (2 table and wall mount) worked with this TV which was frustrating. Luckily it does have a nice Center Stand so it fits on almost any reasonably sized, sturdy stand. The 2nd issue caused me to return the TV. As amazing as the Picture is, dynamic HDR was "broken" on this TV. Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ content looked "terrible" like someone put an entire gray filter over the picture and made everything look super dim and drab. Best way to describe it is if someone automatically put the picture in "filmmaker" or default "cinema" mode. All the vibrancy, just disappeared. I said their was 2 things I hated, but really 3. The 3rd major flaw to the TV is the lack of picture settings. You really need to like the out of the box picture settings and not be someone who likes to tinker because there's a "shocking" lack of options to change anything and almost "nothing" in the HDR modes. It's frustrating because the price of this product (I paid $2,200 and would gladly pay $3,500) made this such an amazing buy, I just couldn't deal with the broken Dolby Vision. I searched around and couldn't tell if it was just this unit or a known issue, so I didn't want to simply exchange it if it was a known issue. I ended up with the Samsung S90c which was also on sale and honestly I think the TCL QM8 PQ was "better." This TV did prove to me that Mini LED technology has vastly improved over the last few years and are more than capable of hanging with OLEDS. Best part of this experience was not worrying about auto dimming - which was the other thing I hated about the S95c, the ABL was really aggressive and maddening.

The picture on this tv is absolutely incredible. Color is bright and vivid when playing hdr content. I paired this with an LG sound bar and makes for a great home theater. My only regret is that i dhould have gotten the 98 in model.
