First the good. Colors pop really well, the white level is insane. Picture quality is #1 reason to buy this. Now the bad. Never should have switched from Roku to Google, a huge invasive mess. Fixed that by connecting my Roku player and setting Roku to HD4K setting as the tv wont handle the HDR4K setting. I also found that turning off every automatic setting on the tv helps with a variety issues, the biggest being that while I was watching a baseball game, the screen adjusted the brightness continuously( highly annoying to me). My biggest concern, and it may be a defect in my tv, is the remote response time...its ridiculous!!! Literally 10 seconds to open an app, change a channel, or see a response of any kind, including volume. Do a search on this online, you will find numerous posts. Once again connecting my Roku and linking a Harmony universal remote fixed every bit of this. Furthermore, as a watcher of recorded programs, the remote itself , is pretty bad as it doesnt have dedicated fast forward , you can push the directional pad for a 30 sec jump, but because of delay, you cant tell if its gonna happen, or when. One more time, the Roku connection and Harmony remote fixed this. If I hadnt already owned both, this tv would have been returned

Better than expected. The blacks sre great and the colors sre pretty great much better than the LG I only had for a few days and then dead pixels appeared. I also get two years of worry free protection from best buy so makes the decision essier!

Bought an 85" R655 from in November 2022. One day in January 2024 I turned on the TV to find a red splotch in the top center of the screen. This is not our main TV; it is located in the basement theater and used sparingly. In spite of the limited hours of use, TCL was unwilling to do anything to help since it was recently out of warranty. I've seen on an A/V forum owner's thread that I'm not the only one with this particular red blotch problem. I learned two lessons with this purchase: (1) Break my never buy extended warranty rule when it comes to large TVs, and (2) never buy TCL again. To be fair, I'm sure TCL is no better or worse than other budget brands if you're looking for something smaller/cheaper for the bedroom or exercise room. But if you're buying a large TV that you hope to have for awhile, stick with the name brands.

Love this TV!! It's so bright I had to turn down some of the settings so that I'm not blinded while watching at night. Even during the day it's plenty bright. Colors are amazing, viewing angles are wide. Couldn't be happier with this TV for the price.

The TV supports the right resolution and display refresh rate required for a high performance gaming. Its a steal when best buy runs offers on this. A comparable display from Samsung/LG would cost you at least 1000-1500 more. If you can’t afford a large OLED this is the next best thing.

I unfortunately had someone wall mount my tv bad and it literally fell off the wall and shattered so i havent really been able to the tv lol. 1.7k down the drain but its 100% the best bang for your buck tv on the market!

This TV is the closest to OLED i have experienced. I have an OLED in my bedroom and this tv very comparable.
Forewarning, TV is heavy. doulbe the weight of the 70" i upgraded from.

Overall the tv is awesome but it does have its cons.
Vivid colors with deep blacks that definitely make a huge difference. Great number of HDMI ports with a dedicated ARC port. Apple AirPlay, google Chrome Cast, and 120 refresh rate with low lag.
The only thing that keeps this TV from a 5 star is the horrible google OS. It’s very slow and laggy with apps constantly crashing forcing me to the Home Screen. Coming from a TCL with the Roku OS, google is painfully slow. Luckily I was able to solve the problem with an Apple 4K tv that gets the job done, otherwise for the price point the OS should be better and I get that nothing is perfect but man is that SLOW.
Aside from the OS, it’s a great tv and if you can connect an external device like a Roku, Apple TV, fire stick or game console then it’s a no brainer! Still recommend it, just beware of the horrible OS. Roku TCL is a million times better!!!

The picture on this TV is everything I hope for - its really great. But I couldn't be more disappointed with the poor responsiveness to remote control commands when watching YouTube TV streaming service. I bought a google TV because we are YoutubeTV subscribers, and I assumed from a compatibility standpoint I should have a great performance. Instead, I often get delays of a couple or 3 seconds, when the TV simply doesnt respond to the remote control. Sometimes I'll hit the back button again and again out of frustration, and occasionally it locks up entirely.
It is not my internet - we have 1000 Gig speed. And the TV/remote does not do this whenv watching antenna channels, or navigating TV menus not related to the streaming TV service.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
