The TCL Q55K 98 inch TV signals the arrival of very high quality displays at a large size for a reasonable cost. It wasn’t long ago when 80 inch TVs were way out of the average persons price range, let alone a 98 inch TV. So, what makes this TCL such an outstanding value? Read on. Display Tech: Let’s focus on some of the not expected high level performance I experienced with this TV. First off, 144hz natively? On a 98 inch TV? At this price? If you are a gamer and want to future proof yourself with a massive TV this might be your ticket. Everyone has their fingers crossed next gen consoles will jump from 60hz, and this TV will be able to accommodate that jump. Perhaps you have a gaming laptop you like to occasionally hook up to your TV, this will be able to support 144hz VRR. Additionally, the motion handling brain in this TV punches well above its weight. Fast moving scenes are handled well and don’t produce the soap opera effect. The Game Mode keeps the input lag nice and low. It’s the lowest I’ve experienced on a large TV like this. Don’t expect dedicated gaming monitor levels, but for a living room TV experience they are excellent. Build Quality: The TV arrived very well packaged with thick Styrofoam and cardboard all around the edges. The bezels, plastics, and back of the TV all feel reasonable for a TV of this size, nothing will stand out in a negative way. The star of the show for me on build quality has been the remote. I am a stickler for a nice remote for TVs because it’s something you rely on to interact with. In this case it has a nice feel, and most importantly the buttons light up. Everything Else: The other points I want to touch on is the setup and OS. I hung this TV on the wall and let me tell you, you will need three people. This thing weighs A LOT. Do not underestimate it and make sure you don’t cheap out on the wall mount. The operating system has been a joy to use. I still think Google TV is the best OS on the market that comes preloaded on a TV. It’s pretty quick and organizes everything in a logical format. I didn’t experience any crashes, and the app selection is excellent. If you are used to buying a Roku or something, give the native OS a shot because you might like it. Overall, my impressions of this TV are very high. The value here is impossible to ignore and I can’t imagine you won’t be happy with it if you are looking for a large TV. Take the plunge.

TV started malfunctioning after 2 weeks and the picture quality was not the best.

My first thought upon receiving the TCL - 98" Class Q55K Series 4K UHD HDR QLED Smart TV with Google TV was, "This sucker is huge!". When I upgraded from a 27" to a 40", to a 60", the size difference did not seem as overwhelming as the difference between a 60" and 98" screen. Reorganization was needed as there was just not enough space between the screen and the seats in the original configuration. It felt like being in the front row of the movie theater where the screen overpowers you. Fifteen feet from the screen, ended up being comfortable for me. The kids were fine at ten feet while gaming. Size aside, the picture is phenomenal. The images are crisp and clear and the color is rich and full-bodied. My 60" does not have the clarity of this TV. The kids had no issues connecting and setting up their games and were highly impressed. They said the refresh rate was such that games ran smooth without a hitch and it was as if they were playing with a monitor and not a TV. They play those fast skill games where any hesitation or lag means you lose. Their only concern was with games where you need to see the entire screen at the same time as you can lose focus trying to see the corners. Now I play more sedate games and can say I find the clarity, color and size enjoyable. We had no issues accessing our streaming services. You can use the remote or tap into Google Assistant or Alexa if you prefer voice commands. Given the number of times remotes get "lost" around here, this is a big plus. The TV is heavy, about 120 pounds, so be aware of that if you plan to mount it on the wall. Also be aware that the packaging it came in is heavy as well and together was around 200 pounds so be sure to have muscle around when it is delivered. As long as you have the room, I highly recommend this family friendly TV.

I seem to keep doing this to myself every year, buying the next size up. Well, if you are wondering what I came from, it's the 85 inch version of this TV. And while I thought that was big, this is just insane. But now that I've been using it for several months, it doesn't feel that big anymore. In a good way. The size of this TV is simply great if you have a smaller living room, but mine is huge. Which is why I wanted to move up from the 85 I had before, (Which is now upstairs in my workout room). The screen on this TV is simply GREAT, it is more than enough for nearly 99% of viewers. It has great colors, and viewing angles are very nice. Colors don't fade, and black looks black. Of course you can set color profiles with ease, but I have mine on auto. I watch so many different types of things on this TV, so I let the TV do it for me. Sound quality shocked me, as my current speaker setup does not work with this TV. So I'm in the process of finding a good match. But when turned it on, and noticed how great it sound without an audio upgrade...I have been pleased. It doesn't have a lot of bass or ton, but it is loud and clear. This is a HEAVY TV, and requires two people to set it up on a wall mount or stand. So be careful. For the price, you can't really beat these types of TVs. You can find them on sale, but even at regular price...it's a really nice deal.

Delivery was poor. They messed up the address so the driver could not locate the delivery address. Reschedule was more than a week later.
