Great picture quality and huge screen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this 98-inch TCL TV because I wanted a sizeable upgrade from my existing 70-inch unit for watching sports, especially for split-screen when there are multiple games on at the same time. Sizeable is probably not a strong enough word though. This this is huge! It was drop shipped by a carrier and came on a pallet. Shipping weight is almost 150 pounds and the TV itself comes in at almost 100 pounds. That being said, you definitely need a helper (or two) to move it and get it in place, especially if you are wall mounting. When choosing a mount, be sure to check the VESA patterns and weight capacity as I realized my existing mount would not be sufficient. Once I got it hung, setup was relatively easy using the Google Home app. The UI is typical of a Google TV and is simple to navigate although I generally use a streaming player for uniformity across all of my TV’s. With that said, note that the USB is not powered when the TV turns off, so the streaming player has to go through a complete startup every time you turn on the TV if you use the USB for power. It’s a minor annoyance that could be avoided by plugging directly into the wall, but I like the clean look of not having yet another wire hanging down. In reality, this is the only true negative I have found so far with this TV. I can’t speak to the sound quality of the built-in speakers as I have mine connected to a soundbar. The picture quality is really good although there is some glare in my space given certain lighting conditions. Action scenes and movies reproduce very well and the contrast between dark and light areas is superb. There are tons of adjustments available to customize the picture to your preferences and lighting conditions. Everyone who has come over has been really impressed with this TV and I could not be more pleased with it.

Defective TV & Terrible Customer Service
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this TV, but it didn't work at all. Best Buy gave me a hard time, refusing to replace it, citing price increases. After picking it up since 5 days, they still haven't issued my refund. 800 # support was frustrating and unhelpful. Avoid this product.

BIG.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you know many home theater nerds, you probably know that many have a very love-hate relationship with projectors. Getting a good picture often demands expensive screens, extensive light control, or both. Ongoing maintenance can be costly and annoying. And there are very few ways to deal with the noise generated by their cooling systems. But they put up with it regardless since there have been essentially no alternatives for anyone looking to recreate the cinematic experience at home. The Q55K aims to change that, providing a compelling (if at times flawed) alternative to projectors that I think many are likely to find extremely attractive, and at a price point that's finally comparable with the more mature home projector offerings. Setup was, understandably, a bit of a bear. My TV arrived right in the middle of the holiday season on a day I was absolutely not prepared to install it, requiring me to stash it in my garage until after Christmas. It barely fit through my garage door, and once I was ready getting it moved, unpacked, and then finally mounted required the help of two more adults. We were all fairly experienced when it came to such things, but I do think that most who can figure out how to find a stud and work a level could probably get it up on the wall without too much difficulty. That said this is definitely one of the rare cases where I would suggest considering professional installation if you have concerns. The TV is fairly well built but with a frame this large there's no getting around the fact that leverage is going to be working against you if something goes wrong. I do not think it would take all that much going wrong to crack the screen getting it up on the wall. And let me tell you, that would be a massive shame. The QLED panel on this thing is jaw droppingly gorgeous. I'll admit that at first I wasn't sure if 4K would actually be enough pixels to look good blown up to this scale, but I am pleased to say the concern was unwarranted. Images are wonderfully crisp, colors are vibrant, and I was surprised at how much the massive screen helped when it came to emphasizing fine details that I'd been missing even with a 65" panel. And compared to the home theater projector it was replacing, it only took a few seconds to know there was no going back. Even with had the specialized screen, the light control, the ideal mounting, and precise focusing, basically everything you need to get the best possible image, the TV blew it away. That said... there are a few things that keep me from being able to give it a full five stars. To start with: the built in upscaling. Usually the first thing I do after getting a new TV is spend a few minutes either disabling or dialing down all the post processing tricks they use to try and "improve" the image because it bothers me, but I can generally tolerate it if a mode switch suddenly brings it all back. I could not do that with this TV. Its attempt to upscale lower resolution content, particularly animated content, rendered it almost unwatchable. Colors were needlessly smeared together, wiping out a lot of fine detail completely rather than accentuating it. Text was twisted into bizarre shapes, which might have been tolerable if not for the fact that it couldn't settle on what that shape should be, making it look like you were viewing it through some kind of rippling water effect. And artificial film grain would come and go at random, almost making it look like there were buffering errors despite the fact that I was watching a DVD. Normally I'd be willing to overlook the fact that a feature I don't like and rarely ever use is broken, but going back to my earlier point about the size bringing out detail this is probably the one TV where I'd have been willing to make an exception. There's no way not to see the pixels in older content shot for 720 (or, worse, 480) lines of resolution when it's blown up to the size of a wall. So if you watch a lot of that, I think you may need to just plan to get a player/streaming appliance that can do that stuff on its own. One other issue I ran into has to do with the initial setup process for the TV. Google TV is my streaming OS of choice these days, so I've gotten pretty familiar with getting TVs running them configured. For whatever reason this one proved to be the exception. The automated setup failed three times before we went through and started setting thing up manually, and it took about half an hour to get it to properly talk with the receiver running the home theater's speakers. Good news is that once I did get through all of it, that seemed to be it. A couple months later and I haven't had to touch it again. It has gotten at least one software update since then, so hopefully some of this stuff has already been fixed, but nonetheless, it's probably best to have the manuals close by for anything you might be planning to hook up to the TV. And you do want to hook some stuff up to the TV. Despite its massive size I can assure you the built in speakers are not going to make anyone particularly happy. Despite those issues though, this remains an easy recommendation for me. Because as much as a hassle as it was to get in place and running, it still beat the setup time for my last projector by at least an hour. I think a lot of home theater setups are about to get significantly more impressive.

Posted .Hi AlexV,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. This TCL TV comes with two feet with screws to secure them, a power cord, a remote, and a quick start guide. There are a total of 4 mounting holes. 2 of them may have screws in them, and should be removed. We recommend using the appropriate M8 screws that come in most mounting bracket screw kits. This TCL TV uses a 600mm x 500mm VESA mounting pattern. Hope this helps!

Such as outstanding value
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a 65 inch TCL the difference is obviously substantial. TCL has done an excellent job with their AI upscaling chip. It works very well especially with some regular content from YouTube and other streaming services. It recently added an update to 313 which added super resolution also. Visually it's your standard square screen. There are plenty of inputs and the sound quality is fine if uninspiring although I would highly recommend one of their soundbars. The remote is nice minus the unnecessary shortcut buttons. I did not use the stand but mounting to the wall was easy with 2 people. It has an unusual vesa pattern but many mounts will work provided they cover the 600 x 800 range. Screen quality and features are outstanding for a midrange TV. Lots of customization and Google TV runs super fast and studder free which is rare which is a statement to how good their processing chip is. Overall comparing cost, quality and features this is the best midrange tv on the market and they have others in smaller sizes. TCL brand has made great strides to balance the value here. It's an excellent deal.

Best 98” TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I turned on this 98″ Q55K TV for the first time, I was impressed. The massive screen immediately felt like I’d brought a movie theater into my living room. The QLED panel delivers sharp 4K detail, and colors look rich and vibrant — HDR content pops nicely thanks to support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10/10+ and HLG. Motion is smooth, even with fast-paced games or sports, because the panel supports a 144 Hz refresh rate. The built-in “smart TV” features, powered by Google TV, make streaming easy — all my apps were ready to go immediately, and navigation is snappy. Sound coming from the TV itself is decent for a built-in system, though it’s not “theater-quality.” Some scenes felt just a bit thin or tinny, so I ended up pairing it with external speakers for a fuller experience. Overall, with the size, picture quality, and smart features — this TV feels like a strong value. Despite a few minor trade-offs, I’m really pleased with how it performs.

Wow BIG SCREEN
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned many TV’s over the years and generally go for OLED screens dispite the lower brightness and higher cost. I’ve become accustomed to movie nights with perfect contrast and no light bleed or blooming. Getting a 98” big screen was an option because our living room set up has a large wall and we can even go bigger. The issues I have with this TV can be attributed to most LED LCD screens. While you get a bright vibrant picture you also get the down side of basically light bleed and blooming. This don’t a huge deal during the day when I can’t notice it but this is an edge lit LCD so any dark scenes with a bright highlight in the middle has horrific bleeding like times your 55” LCD by 10 on this 98”. For daytime sports it handles motion well and colors are ok I’m certainly not calibrating it and out of the box it’s doing good enough but it does seem to have more blue which I actually prefer the colder color temperature. I don’t think this TV has any local dimming and I really wish it did because of the screen size and being edge lit. Overall good TV for sports during the daytime. Gaming and home theatre, yes it works good enough but you get the blooming and haloing which drives me crazy being used to OLED. Great build on this TV too!! I recommend

Exceeded my normally snobby expectations.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned a 85" Bravia 9 and and a 98" TCL qm8k for this. Weird, I know. Both had severe dirty screen effect, so I gave up on high end tvs. Got this and a 77 inch LG C5 for the same price of the B9. Kids totally love the giant tv and I get to enjoy the oled in my man cave. win/win
