Worst Experience Ever

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not sure I’ve ever experienced such a condescending manner by any Best Buy employee in 30 years. The employee I asked for help with my TV was trying me out of buying it. He kept telling me they couldn’t help me load it without a box. It was in a box already. Then he wanted to know what kind of car I had. I wouldn’t have come to pick up a TV without a properly sized car. He then took 30 minutes to get the TV on a cart and to the checkout counter after for some reason removing the box. I never wanted the box removed. Once I paid, he rolled the TV to the back of my vehicle and said he couldn’t help me load it without the box and would have to take off the cart and place it on the parking lot. I told him I wanted the box and need help to load the TV. He disappeared as another employee came out. Another customer was walking by and offered to help me load the TV. I don’t know what is going on with this associate but I am not mere disappointed in the service and refuse to come back to Best Buy.

worthless warranty
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I previously had the 2024 version of the 98" QM8 TV until lightning knocked out just about everything we had in our house last May. Ordered the 98QM8K as soon as I saw it available for order in June and it was delivered in July. TV was great until Christmas day. The right side of the TV is now slightly dimmer than the left side. The difference is slight, but sharp. Very visible in person. Getting pictures to show it are difficult and also don't show the degree of the problem as much as in person does. Yet, once you see it, you can't unsee it. It's a clear difference. It's a sharp difference. It's always the right side dimmer than the left side. Factory and power reset has been tried. I've sent multiple pictures to TCL support only to be told my TV is functioning normal. Here is one (I hope the link works, can't figure out how to get pics to post here): https://photos.app.goo.gl/mMeWUzAi7dXWrLyK8 This is TCL's response: "Upon reviewing them, we observed that the TV is operating normally. Please note that the TV automatically adjusts its picture settings based on the content currently being played. This means that brightness, contrast, color, and other display settings may change dynamically to optimize the viewing experience for each type of content. These automatic adjustments are standard behavior and are designed to enhance the picture quality depending on the content source. We hope this helps clarify the behavior you’re seeing. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out." It's as though they refuse to see that it's always dimmer on the right side or are refusing to admit to seeing it at all. I wish I had bought a different brand. Please don't buy TCL.

Don't buy from Best Buy

Do not buy this TV or any other appliance from Best Buy. The complete lack of customer service alone is enough for me to never make another purchase from Best Buy. I bought this 98" TV and a Sonos Arc soundbar for our newly renovated basement. It was supposed to be the finishing touch on our project that we had spent months on. The "Free Mounting valued at $300" looked great on paper. Only to wait a month, be told I needed to reschedule the night before delivery, then be told I needed a different soundbar mount than the agent told me in the store, then be told I need to reschedule in another month once I buy that mount. At the end of the day I mounted the TV and soundbar myself and didn't receive a refund for any of it. I've spent hours on the phone and chat with customer service, they don't have any answers and don't care that I had a poor experience. I would've been happier spending more money through a different retailer just so I had confidence in the customer service. If something ever goes wrong, you're not getting any help from Best Buy.

A VERY costly Salesman's mistake

Because they wouldn't update my order to reflect this non-delivery, I could not reschedule delivery. So I canceled the order and re-ordered to enable delivery rescheduling. They wiped out $500 of gift cards attached to the first order because THEY messed it up. I bought the TV, they canceled the gift cards. They had GREAT difficulty setting delivery appointment and keeping it (3X's) and I got chiseled out of my rightful gift cards. It is my opinion they don't care about customers. Don't believe me, try phoning the store you bought a TV from. Better yet, try getting the phone number to the store you bought from. Calling the 800 number? They can't help. It is my opinion that they don't want to hear/see you after your credit card is accepted.

Moved From Projector to This Amazing TV!

I do love a projector but sitting in the dark all the time isn't fun even in a light controlled room. Not to mention they aren't as friendly for gaming. The price of this 98" TV was just similar to a new laser projector, but I really wanted to have the lights on. So, I had this hung on a wall and had the wires hidden. I'm using what's called "The Beast" mount and I love it since I can pull the TV off the wall and get behind it easier. Now the actual TV. It is just so bright! Colors are vivid and I no longer have to replace bulbs! It has game settings to lower lag and the black levels are very good for space FPS games like Destiny 2. When we had it delivered and installed there was worry it would be too big. But thanks to BestBuy's site with all the dimensions I was confident it would be fine and it was. I only have 4 inches of space on each side but it looks great on the wall. Everyone in the house has said it is life changing. Like when we watch movies, TV or play games on it. We sit about 16 feet away and it feels good. I had it mounted on the lower side. About 2 or 3 feet off the floor since I didn't want to tilt my head up as I watched TV. I really love this TV, it is my first new TV in about 15 years and it is such a hit I wish I did it earlier.

Perfect TV For Our Viewing Space
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We were replacing an 11 year old 84" LG 4K LCD set which failed due to a utility transformer explosion and resultant power surge. Our first consideration was the TCL 85" QM8K, but the price difference between that model and the 98" version was negligible and we had the wall space to accommodate the bigger set, so... The picture quality (resolution, brightness, contrast, color reproduction and black performance is just outstanding. Our viewing space is in our living room, which has big windows on two walls, so the high brightness and contrast make this set perfect for the application. The "Intelligent Picture" setting optimizes the picture for ambient lighting conditions, resulting in images that are bright enough without having to draw the drapes but not so bright that you have to wear sunglasses. I'm not crazy about the "Film Maker" setting - it makes the picture too murky for my tastes. Overall, the picture quality is at least an order of magnitude better than the old LG LCD. My biggest concern was the audio quality. The old LG set had great sound by itself so I was worried I'd be disappointed with the TCL sound. However, it's equipped with a B&O sound system and the sound is incredible - easily the best flat-panel sound I ever heard. In the past, we usually turned on the AV system when watching something with a big deal soundtrack, but the sound of this TV is so good, it's really not necessary. The AV system actually complements the TV audio for things like rear-channel effects and the AV system subwoofer augments the already impressive low bass performance of the TV, but for most programming, the B&O audio system in the TV is all you really need. My guess is that over time, the AV system will be used less and less. The only issue I had was that hooking up the TV to the AV system via the HDMI ARC input would not work. The installer said it might be a setting in the AV receiver, but I haven't been able to resolve that yet, so I'm using the optical connection, which works great. The Google TV "Smart" system works well. The old LG set was used with a Roku Ultra box, which is now unnecessary. One less remote control to have to find. All in all, we could not be happier. I'm 76 years old. It'll probably be the last TV I'll ever purchase. Highly recommended!
