I am decidedly split in my opinion on this TV. The picture quality is fantastic and has exceeded my expectations. However, there is a known issue with the power supply on this TV that causes an intermittent and distracting buzzing sound to come from the TV. TCL states that the issue has been resolved in more recently manufactured units. However, they have not been helpful in getting my issues resolved. They have simply been deferring to Best Buy in getting this resolved. I am now on my fourth TV return from Best Buy (Best Buy has so far been unable to coordinate manufacture date requests with their warehouse prior to delivery). I want to recommend this TV, but cannot with the ongoing quality control and customer service issues.

I have had LG OLED Tv's for the past 10 years or so. Was not sure about the TCL. Store Manager talked me into it. 6 months later and I love the TV. Have had zero problems. The blacks are not quite as good as my 77" OLED but the size and overall movie experiance is just better. Got it on sale for a really good price. Had Bestbuy do the install and the guys they sent were great. I do not use built in software, as I use a shield pro for all of that. So not sure how that part works.

This TV is capable of doing anything you throw at it. It is bright enough for any room, and technically sound enough for any enthusiast! Fast response for any gaming needs and sports…

I purchased the 98" TCL QM8K TV with high hopes, but unfortunately, it has a major flaw: a persistent buzzing sound at peak brightness. The noise disappears only when the brightness is lowered to 49 or below. Best Buy was helpful and exchanged the original unit for another of the same model. Sadly, the replacement has the exact same issue. Extremely disappointing for a premium TV. I’d like to exchange it for a different brand—even if it means paying more—but after emailing Best Buy, I’ve received no response. Buyer beware: while the picture quality is stunning, the buzzing completely ruins the experience. For reference, the exchange happened in September 2025. I’m now out $3,000 and stuck with a frustrating product. Just search “buzzing sound TCL QM8K”—I’m clearly not alone.

Great picture, very bright, but colors are maybe more vivid than they should be, though I don’t mind it. Very happy with my purchase.

Probably the best non-OLED picture I have personally seen! Excellent picture quality even in Game Mode! I'm blown away every time I turn it on... it's really that good. Of course, being a 98" TV, it'll take a few people to install, but other than that, I can't recommend this TV more highly.

I love the size, been wanting a 98" for several years. So far, it's exceeded my expectations other than stutters on some streaming apps.

I've had this TV now for about 3 weeks and have watched maybe 20 hours on it by now. I am very happy with the purchase. The visual quality depends highly on the source. The 4K/Dolby Vision/HDR 10 programming from steaming Netflix/Disney+ has been amazing. Watching older shows/movies that have not been remastered isn't great but it's also not bad. This is a complaint that I've read in reviews before I purchased this TV so I knew what I was getting into. With this TV you'll want to get the top tier streaming quality in order to really appreciate it. I was worried that 98" was going to be too big but I feel that its perfect for my set-up which is a home theatre in the basement sitting on a sofa about 16 feet from the screen.

This tv is excellent and the sound it comes with is surprisingly good. My brother, who is exclusively OLED, said he he really couldn't tell it is QLED and the color looked great.

I purchased the TCL QM8K 98 inch 4K TV and I love it. The picture quality is amazing especially in 4K. I would recommend this TV to anybody. I do own a Samsung TV and to me it is if not as good maybe even better

Excellent quality at an unbeatable price. I've seen some reviewers mention buzzing with their units and I was a bit anxious about our unit having the same issue, but I'm happy to say our unit works without any such buzzing noises. The picture quality is great, with minimal blooming from bright content in dark scenes. Also enjoy that it has the standard Google TV software for ease of use and enjoying different media apps. Giving a special shoutout to Best Buy's service and delivery team. My first unit had issues due to a poor delivery experience (screen cracked), but Best Buy promptly scheduled another delivery and sent 3 delivery guys to handle this massive TV. Second time was the charm :)

This TCL tv is the absolute best! I just love watching football and movies on it. Best Buy delivered it when they said they would, installed it perfectly and answered any questions we had. I wish I had one in the bedroom!

98” and it looks really good even on regularly broadcasted television and even better on 4k shows! The google tv is good too - we had some issues at first but make sure the tv software updates and it works fine. Also the sound is really good, has bass you don’t even need a sound system if you don’t want one. Overall very happy!

Fantastic TV - Previously had the QM7 and you can indeed tell a difference between the two. For the time being until the QM9K comes down in price, this is the best value for a 98". Delivery was good as always. Refer to Rtings for the technical details!

Got this for gaming on PS5. Compared it to Bravia 5 (had employee discount on this so was the same price as tcl) but this was the winner for a bright room.
