Very big sound for such a small device. I’m not using this in a home theater capacity by any means, but for general consumption of streaming content, it is very impressive.

Soundbar worked well for a few weeks. After week 3 it started to sound weird (muffled sounds like underwater) it also keeps disconnecting from the subwoofer from time to time. So I have to keep pairing the subwoofer to the soundbar. It also says out loud each time you change the setting (Bluetooth, HDMI ARC) or change the treble, bass and that’s quite annoying. My 10 year old soundbar from Samsung never did that and never had issues. I wish I never bought this one. I reached to the TCL team and they can’t do anything about it. If you buy it from Best Buy get the protection plan. I also don’t like how it announces everything.

I moved into my college apartment with barely enough space for a small TV, let alone a full home theater setup. When I stumbled on the TCL S55H at Best Buy for under $100, I figured why not give it a shot—and I’m so glad I did. The sleek black soundbar fits perfectly under my wall‑mounted TV, and the included free wall‑mount kit made installation a breeze. Despite its compact footprint, the S55H packs a punch with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual\:X support, delivering genuinely immersive audio that makes late‑night study breaks feel like cinematic escape missions. Whether I’m replaying lecture recordings or winding down with a movie, the spatial sound really brings every scene to life in my small living room. The wireless subwoofer (5.5″ driver with Bass Boost) fills the room with rich, deep bass without rattling the walls or disturbing my roommates. Even at lower volumes during “quiet hours,” the bass maintains clarity thanks to the Ai Sonic auto room calibration, which tailors the output perfectly to my space. Connectivity couldn’t be simpler: I stream study playlists over Bluetooth, plug my laptop into the HDMI eARC port for crystal‑clear audio, and even use the USB input for quick access to saved podcasts. The included HDMI cable and wireless remote control meant I was fully set up in under 10 minutes. For anyone in a cramped college apartment craving next‑level sound without the hassle or price tag, the TCL S55H from Best Buy is a game‑changer. It’s transformed my apartment into both a study haven and a social hub—and at this price, it’s an absolute steal.

I purchased this 2.1 channel soundbar on a whim as I was having friends over for a movie night in my new home and wanted something with a little more 'oomph' than the speakers in that came with my TCL TV. It was $40 off, has BT for using with my phone, came with a 1-year warranty, and I liked that it claimed to integrate well with my TCL TV. Having spent a better part of my life as a sound enthusiast, and a part-time-DJ, I didn't expect to be impressed whatsoever by a system with a 5.5" driver for the wireless sub. I use a Mackie 18" powered subwoofer with my PA system, so it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to bass. However, overall, the sound that comes from this system is actually quite impressive! Will it shake the walls and give you heart palpitations? No, and you shouldn't be expecting that from something this size and price. But it will add a fullness to your audio that no TV speakers are going to touch. The soundbar itself is quite hefty and feels very premium. The sub is somewhat lightweight and doesn't feel quite as premium, but it's small and won't be the center of attention right below the screen like the soundbar. Something I didn't expect was a complete remote that has some additional functions, and when you connect the system via eARC, the remote will allow you to control the TV volume. Speaking of connections, setup was a breeze. If your TV is not recognizing it via the eARC HDMI port, try a different HDMI port first. That prompted the system to recognize it and asked me to plug it into the eARC HDMI port. The wireless sub instantly paired with the soundbar, but I understand if necessary you can manually pair it. One tiny gripe miss is that there is an orange status LED on the back of the sub to indicate power/connection. It slowly pulses at all times. Hardly noticeable as it's not particularly bright, but some might find it irritating reflecting off whatever is behind the sub. If it was just a solid-lit LED that would be less distracting. The overall system can get VERY loud and I did not detect any distortion. I definitely feel like I got more than my money's worth out of this little system and would recommend it to anyone looking for a small upgrade for their AV setup.

I love watching movies and the sound quality of the soundbar is amazing. Not the best when I’m the only one watching though. Even on low settings it’s pretty loud and I often get asked if I could turn it down by my wife that’s on the other side of the house. The app is a big let down. Looses connectivity to the sound bar and says it can’t be found.

I bought this to play with ny legends ultimate arcade machine. Its suoer cheap but the sound is exactly what i wanted. The small sub and bar fit perfectly in and on top of the cab. This could easily be used as a main soundbar for the living room too. Couldnt be more pleased for the price and quality.

Overall this is a great soundbar and easy to install/ set up. My only gripe is the eARC HDMI connection was extremely unstable, it would cut out for 5-10 seconds of audio every 10 minutes or so. I fixed this by connecting it to my TCL tv via optical. This isn’t ideal though, as optical connection apparently renders the CEC function unusable, meaning I can’t use my Roku remote to control the volume when it’s connected via optical, I can only use the TCL soundbar remote. That’s why I can’t give it 5 stars. I’m not sure if the audio issues with eARC is a TCL issue or an eARC issue— I’ve seen a lot online about eARC being unstable by design. But regardless, the result is the same for the consumer so it’s sort of a distinction without difference.

I recently purchased this soundbar to complement my TCL Q7. Setting it up was surprisingly simple; it only took me about 6 minutes to connect everything. For $159, having Dolby Atmos, DTS Virtual X, and a wireless subwoofer feels like a steal. While there are better options out there, the value for money is impressive. I look forward to see how the soundbar continues to perform while having these features. However, I did encounter some minor issues. One of them is that it's sometimes hard to gauge how much I've adjusted the different modes because the indicator lights are directly above the soundbar. Occasionally, I had to peek up to check. Nevertheless, this is not a deal breaker for me. What I'm getting out of this soundbar outweighs that minor inconvenience.
