High-Class Noise Canceling, Difficult UI-at first!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the title of my review stated, these earbuds have some incredible active noise-canceling technology. I work a lot around yard equipment like mowers and blowers, and to-date I have never had a pair of earbuds that actively cancels both the high AND the low-frequency sounds (like the hum of a blower turbine) with such efficacy. If your first and biggest priority is noise canceling capability if you are on planes and the like often, you will not go wrong with these! Where these earbuds have been a bit of a struggle for me has centered around the difficult user interface (UI) touch controls on the surface outer pad of the earbuds on both sides. I have included with my review a picture of the touch guide from the technics webpage guide for these earbuds, but I still find it hard to actually perform some of these touch actions on the fly, not to mention the minor discomfort it causes sometimes to be “drumming” the touch-sensitive pad of the earbud directly into my ear canal. The Technics app does make these different touch controls customizable, so that is a big win for these. One other complaint of these highly-sensitive touch pads on the exterior of these earbuds is that I inevitably end up pausing and unpausing my music frequently when I make comfort-based adjustments to the position of the earbud in my ear. I have had to get used to gripping the external outer edges of the earbud to make adjustments as opposed to going right to the earbud and pushing the pad of it to make adjustments. I am getting used to it and causing less accidental pauses and plays on my music, so give yourself some time to make the adjustment! Build and fitment quality: Technics does everything possible to make sure you have a good fit with these earbuds, including offering a very specific visual guide on how to ensure these are appropriately oriented in your ear, while also including a veritable legion of different eartips to make sure that these comfortably fit into almost any ear canal! I was lucky enough to have a comfortable and quality fit with the earbuds that came out of the box. These are considered a “concha fit” type of earbud, if you are an anatomy nerd like me, so they nestle nicely into the anatomical curvature of your external ear landmarks which may actually feel like a more secure fit for some users as opposed to typical earbud “hook shapes” like AirPods. Build quality wise the earbuds themselves are excellent as high-quality earbuds at this price level go. There is nothing about them that would indicate to me that they are flimsy or wouldn’t stand up to the rigors of athletic use. They are IPX4 rated, which means that they can handle rain and rivulets of sweat with no problem. Just note that this rating is given to the earbuds themselves and not the case! The case is shorter than the AirPods pro case, is longer, feels a bit denser and heavier by a gram or two, retains the ability to wirelessly charge on my Qi charging pad, and is designed to stand up on a flat surface. I think this case is no more or less obtrusive in one’s pocket than an AirPods pro case, but the Technics logo engraved into the top of the case is, in my opinion, a little low-quality looking. I think that future revisions of this product and/or case should include a bit of an edgier case design. That minor complaint aside, the audio quality of these earbuds is incredible. The 8mm free-edge dynamic driver in these earbuds provides an excellent blend of treble, mid, and bass frequency mix to my favorite tunes and feels highly immersive; certainly on par with my AirPods pros (1st gen) and some other higher-end wireless earbuds that I have tested. An example of a song I was really excited to hear in such beauty and clarity was 1:25 minutes into What I Got-Reprise by Sublime. Wow, I could almost viscerally feel the bass lines punch through in that part of the track! It should be mentioned that there is a Premium trim of these Technics earbuds that sits about another half of a Benjamin bill above this price-wise, with the boasts of some bronze accents and some other rather indeterminable features upon first glance of the generic specifications sheet. Personally, I am very happy with these less costly earbuds from Technics and it is going to come down to personal preference of aesthetics and the desire for top-of-the-shelf performance stats whether to upgrade to the Premium version of these. Overall, if you are not brand loyal to some of the bigger, more common household names in the wireless earbud market and are not part of the Apple ecosystem where AirPods just make more sense, than I would give these earbuds a solid recommendation! Thanks for reading and hope this review has helped!

Excellent Choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics HiFi are perfect for the working professional. Comfortable, clear, and precise are only a few words of many that comes to mind when I think about these ear buds. What’s good: A wireless charging case, premium feel and look with the ear buds and case, connect three devices at once, a large selection of included earbud sizes, a great app, excellent battery life, and great noise cancellation. What’s bad? ….not much. I am so glad when I discovered that these ear buds came with a wireless charging case. Surprisingly, many brands and even luxury brands don’t always offer wireless charging cases and believe me as I owned a few. Being able to wirelessly charge your earbuds completely makes life amazing! Of course you can always charge them via usb c. Not to mention the case looks great and I love the words “Technics” embossed on the top in white. To me it looks nostalgic yet intriguing. I have two iPhones on me at all times … personal and work. I love love love that as soon as I open the case and pop out the earbuds they instantly connect to both of my phones. What’s even better is that I can switch back to back on both phones with phone calls and media and the buds instantly switch seemingly. I have stopped using all other earbuds for these. Sometimes I only take one bud out for phone calls and the earbud automatically again connects to both phones and works as a single bud. Great way to talk on the phone while also being aware of your surroundings. The app is great and what I want from any earbuds or headset. I downloaded the app to both of my phones which can again seemingly connect and control my earbuds. Easily control ambient noise and noise cancellation levels plus many other normal EQ and other functions. Finally, how do they sound? They sound amazing! I can’t stop listening to my favorite songs and taking phone calls all day. I normally hate using earbuds for an extended period of time due to them normally giving me fatigue but now that I have these earbuds I can leave them in for half a day and they feel so comfortable and I have little to no fatigue after hours of use. Great product!

Technics = Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Technics line. To me, when you see that name, you can expect a top-of-the-line, quality product. These Hi-Fi True Wireless Earbuds did not disappoint in that regard. First off, the design of the earbuds and case is modern and sleek. They just look good! As you would expect, pairing was simple and seamless with my fruit phone (you got that right?), no problems whatsoever. Now onto the best parts, noise cancellation, comfort, and sound quality. Lots of brands talk about noise cancellation, but I felt like the Technics headphones took it to another level. I tried them out on a phone call and just listening to music with the TV on in the background. The TV was barely noticeable, even when turned up to a pretty decent volume. And yet, the earbuds were still comfortable, it didn’t feel like they were jammed in my ears for the noise cancellation to work. They sat very comfortably without concern that they might fall out, and there was no fatigue after several hours of use. The sound quality, well, it’s exactly what you’d want and expect from Technics. Crystal clear with deep, sonorous bass. Listening to music on these is SIMILAR to listening on my Technics turntable. The sound is just a little different, in the best possible way.

Great for Music, Mic isn't so good.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The earbuds are really good with music, but call quality is suffering with this product. The bass is punchy and so has clarity with vocals. One of the best features here is their noise canceling feature, which really knocks out the sound around you and is also a feature you should be careful using in an urban environment. They are nicely designed and fit comfortably inside the air moving your head around, doesn’t shake them out. The packaging is nice giving you a very quick guide with a QR code to download the app. They feel premium enough to where they hold. A good drop on the ground. Wireless charging was also nice to have just put on the dock and chargers at a quick rate. Works with iOS, Android, and Alexa with no issues. Using them at the gym was OK but I would not recommend these for heavy sports activities. Though they are nice for using cycling around the city. I did get the 7 hours of playback from the music. Technics did a really nice job of making the earbud experience pleasant. The earbuds case isn’t super pocketable and feels very uncomfortable in shorts or pants. At this price point, I’m sure you can find a good deal on the earbuds, but these are premium enough no less.

Some of the best sounding ear buds that I've heard
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m an old-time audio guy and remember buying Technics stereo equipment back in the 80’s. As time went on, I drifted away from high-end audio, and haven’t heard much about them since then. I was happy to see that they are still making products and these AZ60M2 ear buds are proof that they still know how to make high-quality, great sounding products. First, i will talk about what’s in the box. You will find they include an owners manual, getting started guide, safety warnings, warranty card, a little introduction, a 25cm (about 9.75inch) USB-C to USB-C cable, 7 sizes of earpieces, charging/storage case, and 2 ear buds. You will also want to download the Technics Audio Connect app for your smartphone. (IOS and Android versions are both available. Once you take the buds out of the case and put them in your ears, start the Technics Audio Connect app and follow the on-screen instructions to configure the ear buds and use the app to help you determine the proper size for the ear pieces. It will have you change them several times as it attempts to find the correct size for each ear for optimum noise cancellation. Using the app, you can check the charge levels for each ear bud, and the case. You can also configure the level of noise cancelling, turn it off or on, and turn on ambient sounds. Another feature allows you to set audio response presets of Bass+, Super Bass+, Vocal, Treble+, Dynamic, or define your own sound enhancement with a 5-channel equalizer. Other features allow you to set a voice prompt language from a list of 10 languages, control the volume of voice prompts, change between voice and audio prompts when switching modes, and the type of announcement when different devices connect. You can edit the name of your ear buds, find the headphones, define how to use the headphone fitting sensors, prioritize sound quality between AAC, SBC and LDAC, control multi-point connections, customize the touch sensors, select what voice assistant to use with the ear buds and much more. These ear buds are made of black aluminum and are rated IPX4 Water resistant meaning they can handle light splashing water but cannot be submerged in water. The earbuds have 85mah lithium batteries and the case has a 650mah lithium battery. They are rated to have a runtime of 7 hours in AAC mode, 6.5 hours in SBC mode and 4.5 hours in LDAC mode. Total runtime with the case is 24 hours in AAC, 23 hours in SBC, and 16 hours in LDAC mode. A full charge of the buds takes 2 hours. The case and buds can be charged in 2.5 hours. The ear buds weigh only 0.25 ounces each and the case is a mear 1.6 ounces. Now the most important things. These buds can connect to 3 devices at the same time. You can connect to your phone, tablet, and watch at the same time. While I didn’t get 7 hours out of a charge, I have been getting close to 6 hours, which is really good. The best thing though, is the way they sound. I have 3 other sets of ear buds from big companies. All are high end products with noise cancelling. Of the 4 sets I now have, these are my favorite when it comes to customization, battery life, and sound quality. I highly recommend these ear buds.

Are you listening?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Letting you know up front that the bar is high for my headphones. I’ve been using Master & Dynamics MW07 for the past five years and probably checked out five different headphones between now and then but have yet to find something better. This may finally be it. Out of the box, the packaging is sleek and simple, nothing outlandishly fancy but nice enough where you know you’ve bought a modern product. The case is smooth, not overly heady, and the headphones seemingly came pre-charged which is always a bonus. As is expected for headphones of this caliber, there’s an accompanying app to download, but it’s worth it. Setup surprisingly took 5-10min which isn’t the end of the world, but mostly there’s a firmware update that took a few minutes before you’re off to the races. Once connected, I just turned on Spotify and let whatever was already playing continue on. IMMEDIATELY I noticed how filling and clear the sound was, something that’s hard enough to achieve but even harder with small wireless earbuds like this. If I didn’t know better, I would’ve assumed this was some high end, expensive pair of headphones. Really good stuff. The headphones were snug, fit well, and comfortable. Note that they also come with six additional rubber attachments from XS-XL if you’d like to easily swap out ear pieces for something more comfortable. The headphones also last surprisingly long, roughly around seven hours, depending on if you’re using noise cancellation or not (I do). Once they’re dead though, you can pop them back into the case which seemingly charges them back up to full in about an hour, and the case itself will hold 3-4 full charges. All in all, this was impressive as my normal headphones had a simile sound quality but struggled to last more than two hours. One of the major highlights when it comes to charging is that this supports wireless charging as well. Just set the case on a wireless charger and you’re all set. Very easy. They come with very simple touch controls for wanting to skip songs, pause, turn volume up/down, etc. There’s also an entirely different set of touch controls if you’re using these to make phone calls which I could recommend as they’re not only very comfortable but the both the outgoing and incoming audio sounds great. Additionally they can tell if you take one out of your ear and will pause music if that’s the case. One thing that made these stick out more than most thought comes down to the app which has more customization options than I can recall. They’ve got options to control the bass, treble, etc as most do, but they also have options to change what the touch controls do. They have sliders to determine how much or little noise you want to come through, and one of my favorites is “attention” mode where you can clearly listen to music but it also picks up on voices nearby so you can clearly hear people without taking the headphones off. It’s a no brainer. All said, I’m gushing about these and recommending them. Between the ease, compatibility, connectivity, sound quality on everything, and customization, it’s a no brainer that I’d recommend these.

Outstanding Earbuds!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technics - HiFi True Wireless Earbuds with Noise Cancelling and 3 Device Multipoint Connectivity with Wireless Charging – Black I am really impressed with the sound quality of these earbuds. It is so nice listening to music, videos, TV, phone calls or what-have-you. I don’t claim to be an audiophile, but these earbuds provide a wide and rich range of sound. I hear details in music from oldies I miss just listening to them through computer speakers or even external speakers, sound bars and the like. I found the rechargeable (both USB-C and with Qi wireless) case to be slim and easy to carry with you. I also found battery life as advertised, so no surprises there – 7 hours or a little more depending on how you’re using them. Comfort with the earbuds is great. They offer 7 different size ear tips so you should be able to find a pair that are just right for your ear canal size. Noise cancellation works great for me. With full-on active noise cancellation, I could barely hear any outside noise, but I could tell there was noise. It was so subdued that it didn’t take away anything from the sound through the earbuds, just more a tiny blip on the radar that there was a lot of sound going on around me. I couldn’t hear anything unless the outside noise was really loud. You can adjust the cancellation sensitivity on the app for your phone. You operate the earbuds by tapping on them. Once you get used to which side does what, they seemed to work without error. Of course, you can control them from your phone app as well. Speaking of that, you can use the presets for listening (as I do) or you can custom adjust the sound to your liking, as well as other settings. You don’t have to use the app to use the earbuds, but the app provides more adjustments and if there’s a firmware update for the buds you’ll need the app for that. These earbuds do connect up to 3 devices. Right now, mine are connected to my TV, my computer and my phone. They do hand off the sound to the next device when audio starts up on it. I only had one episode where I lost connectivity to one device. I don’t know what brought that about, but it reconnected through the app. Frankly, in my opinion, BT on any device has its own issues from time to time so it didn’t surprise me when I lost connectivity from one device. I suspect it was a BT issue rather than anything to do with the Technics AZ60M2’s. I would recommend trying these earbuds to anyone!

Near Reference Quality Music Listening
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These Technics wireless earbuds are hands down the best sounding earbuds I have ever used for music. Sound quality in this price range is off the charts good at this price point across the various manufacturers, but these wireless earbuds stand out because of the phenomenal musicality. Sound quality for video sources is excellent as well, but if you are a music lover and you want the best there is, then go with these earbuds. The Technics brand has long been legendary for high end sound equipment, so I had high expectations for these earbuds. I tested them specifically with iTunes and I was blown away by how good music sounded. For some newer scores, it was like I was listening to the songs for the first time. The high quality drivers reproduce sound with phenomenal fidelity. I had actually forgotten how good music can sound, with the right source and headphones. To get the full benefit these earbuds provide, be sure to use them with a high quality source. The noise canceling capability of these earbuds is excellent and compares favorably to other manufacturers at this price point.I usually only use noise canceling in a noisy environment because no headphones can completely block out all noise. The noise canceling is especially good at muffling the sound from motors or mechanical devices. The operation of these earbuds will be quite familiar to anyone that has used wireless earbuds before. The case is wireless charge capable which is nice. The App is useful and offers robustion customization options and a full featured equalizer. The Bluetooth version is 5.3 and is capable of multi-point connection for up to 3 devices at the same time. This is useful if you want to listen to music or watch a movie on your PC, but not miss phone calls. Speaking about phone calls, call quality is excellent as well due to the processing, DNC, and microphones. These headphones compare favorably to the best earbuds on the market. But where they really shine is music quality. These earbuds are now my go to for music listening, and I look forward to many days of enjoyable listening.

Pretty Good, but not perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like these. They're good, but not perfect. THE GOOD ~ Long life ~ Decent sound ~ Loud ~ Good call quality ~ Carry case/charger ~ Easy controls ~ Visual display of charge in each bud and case when put in ~ Feel solidly made THE BAD ~ A little bulky ~ Fall out occasionally ~ Weak Bass for music THE MEH (Could go either way) ~ A little bulky ~ Can pop out ~ Weak Bass OVERALL As I stated above, overall, I like these. They are comfortable fit, although a little big. When I first opened these and paired them with my phone, it said they had 100% battery. After about an hour of use, they died. I admit, I was surprised and disappointed. I usually spend 1-2 hours at the gym and 1-2 hours running (when I am not injured like currently. More on this in a bit). I put them in their case and plugged them in. I like that it has a USB-C charging port. This makes it easy to switch between charging my phone and the case. After letting them charge for a while I popped them back in. This time, they lasted much longer. I actually last charged them about a week ago and have been at the gym almost every day for a week and made calls using these. The case still had 40% charge this morning and I haven't had any more short durations using them. I think that first time was a one-off. The music sound quality is good, with mostly mid and high range. However, they're not bass-heavy. If you like hip-hop, rap or other music that often has a strong bass, you'll probably be a little disappointed with these. For most other music, though, they work well. I spend a lot of time on the road and drive a Jeep. Consequently, there's often a lot of road noise. With my last pair of wireless buds, everybody always complained about the road and wind noise. With these, people I talk to tell me they're tons better. The quality on their end and mine is loud and clear. I am currently nursing knee injuries, so can't run. I wish I could because I'd like to test these on a long run to see how they handle. To be honest, though, I don't think they would work well with all the bouncing. Just working out in the gym, they sometimes get a little loose or feel like they're trying to pop out and I have to push one or both back in. A couple times one slipped out completely. They do come with several sizes of rubber buds to keep them in your ears, but the ones they come with on are very comfortable most of the time, so I use those. I like the texture and feel of the buds for controls. It's easy to replay songs or skip songs, etc. Turning the volume up and down is also very simple. THE BIG QUESTION Would I recommend these? For most people, yes, I would. I do have some friends that like EDM and other bass heavy music. I don't think they would be a great fit for them because of the relatively weak bass. Friends who listen to country, pop, etc could use them without ever noticing.

Sleek with amazing sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THE BREAKDOWN: These Technics- HiFi True Wireless Earbuds with Noise Cancelling and 3 device multipoint connectivity with wireless charging are excellent. These things are beautiful and state of the art! So, for all the things that I found simply amazing! The sound quality is top notch with dual 8mm dynamic drivers and LDAC technology. One of the coolest features of the Technics- HiFi True Wireless Earbuds is You can seamlessly connect to and switch between 3 Bluetooth-enabled devices. The Bluetooth range is about 33 feet which really isn’t bad. It is IPX4 water resistant. I had no issues with these on several running days in the heat. You get up to seven hours playback with the active noise cancelling on and 24 hours back-up with the case. The advanced noise cancelling isn’t bad, but it isn’t the best. I feel as if it does a good job at low and mid sounds, but the higher end sounds seem to creep in. PRO’s: - Absolutely stunning sound quality - Solid build and premium design - Good Bluetooth range CON’s: - Average Active noise cancellation - Pricey SUMMARY: Overall, this product worked as intended, and I would recommend this to a friend if they were in the market for an item like this.

Excellent earbuds, with sensitive controls.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics HiFi True Wireless Earbuds are an excellent pair of earbuds and I would recommend them to almost anyone, their are a few small issues that keep them from being a full 5-star in my opinion, but they are great overall. I'll start with the good; the sound quality, noise cancelling, charging, and batter life are all great. I mostly listen to YouTube videos on my phone and the sound quality is great for this, with the long battery life and quick charging case I can listen for several days without having to charge the case. I typically use one earbud at a time and with these that is not an issue, I have used other so called "true wireless" earbuds in the past that only worked properly if both earbuds were inserted. Active noise cancelling works well, even inside an extremely loud data center, so I had no issues with that, obviously earbuds aren't going to cancel as much noise as headphones, but these still do an amazing job of it. The issues: the touch controls are extremely sensitive, left and right touch controls function differently, and when paired with iPhone these only work as any other bluetooth headphone without the additional Apple functionality. Most of these issues aren't anything major; apple will only allow their own headphones/earbuds to have full functionality, but the touch controls are one thing that was distracting for me. Even when adjusting these earbuds, or accidentally touching the side, I would end up pausing my videos, it would be nice if there was a smaller, more defined, touch area for controls. Also, my other issue is since I only use one earbud at a time the additional touch functions, volume up/down and track forward/back, are tied to the left/right earbud specifically so if I wanted to use those touch functions I would need to use both earbuds at the same time. I don't mind since I can still just use the controls on my phone for these functions and I would rather use one earbud at a time just to keep awareness at work. These issues are very specific and I think for most people they wouldn't even be an issue, even so I would still recommend these to anyone looking for high quality earbuds.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These earbuds have options for noise canceling, ambient sounds or off. Leaving it off will naturally block out some sound. Turning it on there is an ambient setting. I like this option when I’m at home and want to be able to hear others talking around me. The noise cancelling option works pretty well. It does not block out everything, but it does block out most. It can be adjusted using their app. The physical size of the earbuds is a little bit on the large size. They are not too uncomfortable, but not as comfortable as some of my other earbuds. They are little bit on the large size. I find that they are not so uncomfortable as I can wear them nearly all day at work. The battery seems to last pretty well as they do get me through the day at work as well. You can wear one earbud at a time, but the controls are designed to be used on a specific side. Considering the price point, I am disappointed in the controls. I have a hard time with the tap feature. You should be able to tap once to pause and tap again to play. I cannot seem to get the hang of it. It is a sensor and I’m not a fan of how it works. Based on the controls I’m rating it 3 stars. If they can fix it through an update, I would give it 4 stars, but they need a little work in my book to be rated at 5 stars. The sound quality is pretty good and the range is pretty good as well, so no complaints there. So if you find that many earbuds seem too small and fall out of your ears, you may like these. Also, keep in mind that the controls may be hard to get used to.

Great sound. Peculiar case texture.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics AZ60M2 piqued my curiosity as it holds a name that was once coveted in the audiophile realm. I have always loved Panasonic and their subsidiaries and this device couldn’t have come out at a better time for me. I have had my AirPods for a few years and they were beginning to get tired after the constant use for 2 years. This is how it stacked up and my opinion of the product. Physically, the Technics AZ60M2 feels nice. The case has a textured finish which makes it easier to hold onto when pulling in or out of your pockets/purse. If I could change a design element it would be the texture of the case. It wasn’t my favorite feel, but it had purpose to it. I think I would prefer something with a larger grippy bumpiness. The device is charged by a USB-C connection! I am so happy that the world is finally adopting USB-C as a standard. The case is also a bit larger than the AirPods Pro case. This is because the buds are larger than the AirPods. This is because the Technics AZ60M2 has gesture/touch controls. So far I have only used play/pause and the noise cancellation controls. The gestures/touch controls were easy to use and I haven’t felt overwhelmed by the amount of ways you can control the headphones. The Technics come with a plethora of tip options so you can find your ultimate comfort fitment. I have let my wife use theses a few times as well and she is very picky when it comes to in ear monitors. She was able to find the right fit with minimal effort. Sound wise, the Technics sound pretty great. I am realizing that my desires for change of the audio quality could likely be changed via the app. Nonetheless, the headphones sound great. The noise cancellation works really well. I could easily wear them for an extended period of time with minimal fatigue. Would I recommend this headphone to others? Absolutely. For someone who is not a diehard Apple fan and wants to try something new, you will not be disappointed.

Amazing fidelity and ANC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the box: • EAH-AZ80 earbuds • Charging case • USB-C to C cable (10 inch) • 7 pairs of tips (short and long extra small, short and long small, medium, large, and extra large) [Note: the medium tips came installed.) • Printed startup guide, warranty, and safety information (in MANY languages) Setup: The headset came almost fully charged so there was no need to charge it prior to first use. Aside from instructions for entering pairing mode and tap controls, the pictorial “Let’s get Started” guide was minimally helpful. Bluetooth pairing was simple on iOS and Android phones, digital audio player (DAP), windows laptop, and smart TV. Pairing mode is entered by pressing on both earpieces for 5 to 8 seconds. The Technics app will prompt you to pair a supported device that it detects, but the pairing itself is done using the Bluetooth settings on the source device. Design: The earphones and charging case are solidly made from molded plastic. Most of the surfaces have a matte texture that makes handling easy. The top of the case and touch surfaces of the earphones are smooth but do not make either slippery. The case has magnetic sockets that easily engage with the earphones for charging. A LED bar light on the front of the case indicates the battery status of the charging case (red, yellow, or green) when the case is opened. When connected to a power supply, the bar light blinks to indicate that charging is in progress and goes out when the case is fully charged. There is also a small LED inside the case that flashes briefly when the earphones are inserted and stays red while they are charging (and the lid is open). The LED goes out when the earphones are completely charged. Information on this small LED had to be obtained from a web-based online user’s manual (I would have much preferred a PDF version). Fit is a personal thing (your results may vary). For me, the size and shape of the earphones are perfect using the medium tips. They fit quickly and comfortably with a good seal every time with no extra fiddling or twisting. I do not use wireless earphones when exercising, but the EAH-AZ80s feel snug, secure, and comfortable with normal activity (e.g., walking). Operation: EAH-AZ80 use Bluetooth v5.3. The product web site lists only SBC, ACC, and LDAC. I confirmed connections using all 3 codecs. While the promotional material suggests that the EAH-AZ80 is able to connect with up to 3 devices, this can only be done with the SBC codec. I was only able maintain a connection to 2 devices with the LDAC codec, but these connections come with a “best effort” caveat. If you want to get the full benefit of the LDAC Hi-Res codec, you may want to disable multi-point connections in the Technics app. With 2 (or 3) devices connected, the EAH-AZ80s switch between them when detecting a new sound source. Music playing on one device is paused when music begins playing or a call is received on another. Tap controls can be difficult to perform on wireless earphones. The default tap controls on the EAH-AZ80s have been well thought out for my most common usage scenarios. Single taps on either earpiece are used to play or pause music or to answer incoming calls. Long single taps on either earpiece enable and disable ANC when listening to music or end a call-in-progress. The functions of double and triple taps on the left earpiece increase and decrease volume for music and calls. Double and triple taps on the right earpiece have different effects depending on the current usage (music or phone). If you don’t like the tap configuration, it can be changed in the app! The Technics Audio Connect app offers full control of all of the functionality of the EAH-AZ80. Changes to the settings can only be made with the earphones connected (i.e., you cannot make changes that will apply the next time a connection is made). Switch between ANC on, ANC off, and “ambient” sound. The “ambient” setting can be further configured to turn on an “attention” filter that enhances frequencies associated with the human voice. The ANC level can also be adjusted. Tap controls can be customized to cycle through any one or all of these settings. The app also includes an equalizer with several presets and customizable five-band sliders. Equalization settings made in the app are retained when switching to a source device that does not support the app (e.g., DAP and TV). The ANC function on the EAH-AZ80 is as good as I have heard on a wireless earphone. The ANC level can be controlled in the app. Call quality is excellent. ANC on my end and JustMyVoice noise filtering on the microphone resulted in exceptional call quality. JustMyVoice filters out background noise in your surroundings when on a call. The result is that your voice is clearer for those on the other end of a call. There was a very slight audio delay when using the EAH-AZ80s with my smart TV. The delay was minimized by setting the codec to SBC in the app prior to pairing with the TV. Audio Quality: All Bluetooth codex variants (even aptX-HD and LDAC) are lossy and the sound quality will never be as good as a wire for high-fidelity recordings and playback equipment. [Note: To my knowledge, the EAH-AZ80 does not support the aptX lossless codec.] Sound quality was assessed with a Hi-Res DAP with LDAC codec, multi-point mode disabled, “direct” equalization, and sharp roll-off filter (on the DAP). The frequency response on the EAH-AZ80 is remarkably flat, a good thing from my perspective. Bass was well reproduced without being bloated. Bass notes were slightly extended, more than mids and highs, despite the sharp roll-off filter (featured tracks 1, 2, 7, 11, 15, & 21). Mid-range and vocals were clear and perhaps a little forward (featured tracks 3, 4, 5, 6, & 14). Highs were detailed without being sibilant. Hi-hats and cymbal brushes were clear and engaging (featured tracks 11, 12, 13, 15, & 18). The earphones were capable of presenting orchestral works over a wide dynamic range (featured tracks 8, 9, & 10). The sound stage was very good, but recording dependent. Binaural recordings, jazz, and orchestral recordings were well-presented and spacious with good instrument separation (featured tracks 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, & 24). Battery: Battery life is good given the inherent demands of noise canceling (ANC & JustMyVoice), Bluetooth, and voice enhancement. I listened for several hours over the course three days and the battery level for the charging case (as indicated by the Technics app) remained over 40%. Overall: For their superior comfort, fidelity, ANC performance, and call clarity (sending and receiving), the Technics EAH-AZ80 has become my new favorites for truly wireless earphones. They are not reference quality (i.e., they are missing the detail of wired balanced armature earphones), but the EAH-AZ80 are as close to audiophile quality as I have heard in a wireless format. The Technics Audio Connect app is feature-packed and allows customization of the EAH-AZ80 to an extent not possible in other earphones. Featured tracks: 1. Some of the best sounding earbuds available!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve not seen technics for years, the last time I owned anything Technics was back in the 90s when I had one of the SL turntables. Technics was a huge company in England in the 80s and 90s so I was really intrigued when I noticed these new earbuds by them. Unboxing is pleasant. Everything is packed well and has that premium feel to it. You get various size earbud tips, a short USB C cable for charging, and of course the buds and the case. Build quality is exceptional. Like most earbuds these are plastic but not that cheap feeling plastic. These feel like a premium set of earbuds from the moment you touch them. I understand why they use plastics in earbuds and that’s because of weight and these things are nice and light while still made really well. The case isn’t the smallest I’ve come across but it’s also not the largest and again is constructed really well. The mage nets inside the case are nice and strong and keep the earbuds in the case even when shaken around. The case also has wireless charging capabilities. The Technics app is extremely good, you will find an update after you go through the initial setup for your earbuds. This has to be the most fleshed out app I’ve seen. You can change almost everything to suit how you use your earbuds. It’s by far my favorite app when it comes to earbud control. When it comes to sound these sound great! Don’t let the 8mm driver size fool you, these have a great sound. They cater to so many different types of music without missing up any of the kids and retains the details in the highs. They have smooth lows which are not over bearing but still over that head nodding bass. ANC is right up there with a certain fruity companies Pro buds and so is transparency. The only negative I have is they could be better for phone calls, but I don’t use the buds for calls so it’s a non issue for me but for some the quality isn’t matching the rest of the package.

Outstanding Sound Quality, Customizable Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First things first - the sound quality of these earbuds is amazing, outstanding, truly superior to any others I've used, which includes a bunch of other highly touted brands. The clarity and depth are wonderful, and bass is great when using the super bass equalizer setting on the app. These earbuds come with 7 pairs of earpieces that ensures that everyone can find a size that works for them. I found that the size they come mounted with worked just fine for me. First thing to do is download the app by scanning the QR code in the Quick Start Guide. When the app launches it automatically walks you through setup, which included a firmware update that takes a few minutes. The app allows you to control all the features, which include noise cancelling & ambient noise amplifying, equalizer with presets, multi-device connectivity, and voice assistant activation. These earbuds paired easily with my watch while still connected to my phone, and while listening to music through my watch, I was able to answer a call with one tap on the earbuds, and when the called ended the music automatically resumed. This is especially convenient for someone like me who likes to leave his phone behind in a locker while working out at my local gym. I listen to music through my watch and answer calls through my watch and can do both with these earbuds. The noise cancelling works great too, as does the ambient noise amplification. And this feature can be turned off if you don't want to use either. After setting these earbuds up to my liking and listening to my favorite music, I just didn't want to turn it off or take them out, I was enjoying the music so much! These earbuds really immerse you in true HiFi sound. They will not disappoint.

Wow! Amazing Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have many headphones and earbuds from numerous manufacturers. None, let me repeat that, none sound like the Technics earbuds. I’m not a music aficionado, but I can definitely hear the difference with these Technic earbuds. I played music from several genres and time periods. The sound was amazing. Just to be sure I was really hearing the different instruments, I listened to some classical music. Definitely hearing the different instruments. I was hearing music, including artists and songs I know well in a way I had never heard before. Truly amazing sound. Additionally, the case is a bit longer and thinner than other earbuds I have. I like that! Super easy to connect these with my phone via Bluetooth. Simply put the earbuds in my ears and they activate (turn on). Went to the Bluetooth area on my phone and viola the Technics earbuds simply showed up. Easy! (and I really like that). Last, but very important, they are very comfortable in my ears. All around, these are fantastic.

Not for workouts
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics - HiFi True wireless Earbuds with noise cancelling are a very nice looking and solid feeling earbuds. The hot weather really made these earbuds work and that is why I am only giving it 4 stars and not 5. The issue is that when you are wearing them, and you really start sweating for some reason the sweat makes them malfunction. So, if you are planning to get this to work out or work outdoors these will not be the best option for you. Other than that, i love how the charging box is set up, the buds themselves look great and feel good, you have plenty of options for ear fitment. The app allows you to set up the sound you want out of these earbuds with simple download, and it really is almost plug and play. The sound qualty is what you would expect from a set as this. The sound is crisp and clear and the bass really sounds great. I would compare the base to almost as if you were inside a club and you can really feel the music. Overall, these are really good and my only issue was that if you sweat or work out these may not be the best option for you, however if oyu are looking for really nice sounding set these will do the job just right for you.
