The AZ80 are among my favorites earbuds I’ve ever had. The sound quality is top-notch, and the other big earbuds players can’t really match them, in my opinion. They are mostly comfortable, look premium, and have a sleek case. The main drawbacks are the ANC and Transparent listening modes, and the app isn’t as intuitive as one might want. Battery life is average. But, those are generalizations. Let’s dig a little deeper. Unboxing the AZ80, in this new blue finish, is standard fare. The blue isn't too distracting, and the gold accents make it look and feel premium. The packaging is nothing fancy and easy to open. Once open there is a quick start guide that will get you going. Simply download the Technics app, and then place both headphones in your ears to get things connected. After connecting you’re invited to find the right earpiece size via the app, which take you through multiple rounds of testing to determine the best fit. I really like this feature, and it allows a lot of custom nature for daily wear. There are multiple sizes too, which is helpful. Once connected you’re pretty much good to go. The app is helpful but not always useful. My headphones came with the latest firmware, so no need to download anything (though the last firmware update out was almost 9 months back). There is an EQ changer, plenty of different ways to customize the touch gestures (which I think are easy enough to use) based-on what you’re listening to, and the other main funciontlaiy is the Find Headphones area. This is my biggest criticism of the AZ80 as a whole: the Find feature. I’m not sure how or what Technics uses to map out when it pings the last location info, but mine typically doesn’t update for weeks on end. I actually have a pair of black AZ80, and even with the always on battery setting selected, it doesn’t reliably ping where I last had the case or earbuds themselves. This is annoying but not a dealbreaker unless you routinely lose your stuff. That said, the audio quality and soundstage is incredible. The Technics profile leans into across the board richness without going to warm, or metallic sounding. It’s balanced and full. The EQ settings are helpful and I prefer the Dynamic profile. The ANC and Transparent modes are good, but not industry leading or the best at any one thing. ANC cancels enough noise to be useful, but it’s not dampening everything around you, even when you turn the setting up to it’s highest setting. The transparent mode works good when you actually have audio playing, but there is hissing noticeable when no audio is actually on. Comfort is good across the board, though I do think the Bose earbuds trump these if head to head. Speaking of comfort, one of my favorite features is the multipoint technology. Having all three of my main listening devices able to connect without having to disconnect any of them is a huge convenience feature that I can’t live without anymore. I have no issues with how the AZ80 utilizes this tech, and am happy with the results daily. Battery life is good at around 6 hours of use, at least in my findings. The case has wireless and USB C charging capabilities. Overall, I really like these earbuds. I wish Technics would figure out its use of the location/find my headphone feature, and really hone in the ANC, but otherwise these are the perfect earbuds for my liking.

Panasonic has finally brought back the true Technics experience. I have owned many audio components and headphones from Technics and they have all delivered a great experience. To have that experience with modern features is absolutely amazing. These earbuds are excellent. The design is simple and sleek. They fit very well inside my ear and are very comfortable when wearing for hours at a time. They are perform great while getting wet while working out or running around. The clarity of the microphone is very very good and comes in clear, drowns out background noise and the person on the other end hears me well. It's cool to be able to use only one ear piece for this purpose. The sound clarity is phenomenal. I can hear every little detail in any kind of music I listen too. The bass is surprisingly deep and clear. I haven't heard any kind of distortion, even at maximum volume. The treble and midrange is also very good and really makes listening to music a great experience. The charging case and battery life are excellent and pretty straightforward. Noise cancelling is excellent and definitely drowns out sound in a noisy environment well. Overall, I'm very happy with these ear buds. Definitely a must have.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the earbuds did not meet your expectations. It can be disappointing when a product doesn't live up to its advertising, especially regarding sound quality and battery life. For the bass and volume issues, we recommend checking the EQ settings on your device to make sure they are adjusted to your preference. If you are experiencing significantly reduced battery life, please try fully charging the earbuds and using them with different devices to rule out any problems with battery performance or connectivity. We appreciate your input and will take it into consideration as we continue to improve our products. -C Panasonic

Even though the AZ80 is not its first foray into the true wireless earbud market, the Panasonic Technics is not the first brand that comes to mind. Even though a lot of people know about the “iconic” Technics turntables that are still loved by DJs for quite a long time, regular people hardly know that Technics also sells audio gear for daily use (and also that Panasonics owns the Technics brand). And while that may be the case, after using the Panasonic Technics AZ90 earbuds for more than a few weeks now, all I can say is I’m so glad I picked it up. TL;DR: they are now my go to earbuds for regular use. The price point the AZ80 targets is in the “premium” range, and there are a lot of incumbents who have been delivering very good products for the last few years. And unlike me, most people prefer the ubiquitous white stems by the unnamed fruit company. Panasonic chose a hard battle to fight and instead of taking a shortcut like being super cheap and providing an OK or average experience, they delivered a very well rounded package. All the features that are provided and all the controls that I was able to fiddle with made sense and gave a hearty experience. The build and finish is very good and when I picked it, I felt right away that this is a premium product. The black case, which also doubles as a charger, has a top lid with a brushed metallic finish, with an adornment of golden Technics logo. When opened up, the earbuds are presented, locked in position with a decent amount of magnetic force. Again, the golden technics logo is engraved on a touch-surface that has a CD-like circular texture. Being a popular turntable maker, it’s a nice touch from Technics to remind us of the bygone era of CDs. Multiple pogo pins stick out from the case and take care of charging when the earbuds are snapped back in the cradle with a satisfying click. The case can be charged via the USB-C port (a short USB-C to USB-C cable is provided in the box), and also supports Qi wireless charging. For notifications/status, 2 LEDs, one of which can be seen even when the case is closed, lights up in green and red. The earbuds themselves are not the smallest I have seen. The in ear type nozzles are sized just right, but the rest sticks out a bit on the ear concha. Again this is the lightest unit out there, but after getting used to it in a day, I didn’t really notice the size or the weight in any manner. These do not come with fins, but for most activities (including moderate running/jogging), rarely did they fall off my ear, especially after I got the right fit. And what a load of options Technics provide in the box - even though all are silicone ear tips, there are 7 pairs of them to choose from. After getting my fit figured out (which was also helped by a measurement option via the Technics Audio Connect companion app), I went through my favorite playlist on Spotify. And boy oh boy was I pleased. I’m not an audiophile by any means, but I like to enjoy my music. And even I’d always prefer my open-back planar magnetic headphones given the chance, for on the go wireless solution, the AZ80 trumped almost all my previous true wireless earbuds. The sound is crisp, clear, with a decent soundstage (given its form-factor), and overall well balanced. I listen to a lot of metal, rock, while also lounging back to classical ones when I’m relaxing, and by tweaking the EQs, I was able to get a perfect balance for my taste. I didn’t find the bass to be muddy, or the high-end to be too harsh - the AZ80 brings clarity, at least to my ears, for most genres. Again music and sound is such a subjective matter that one’s man trash is another man’s gold (in the very extreme case), but after letting my family and some friends have a listen almost all commented that it sounded good to their ears. My weeklong endeavor continued thanks to the claimed 7 hours battery life of the earbuds, along with “up to” 24 hours total by using the charge case. With multipoint (2 device) and LDAC enabled, along with ANC set on I was able to get around 6 days of usage before the case gave in. Strangely, when the case got to 0% charge, the earbuds were also depleted very very quickly (even though they were off). Typically charging up the case, from empty to full, took around 3 hours. The controls, both on the earbuds touch surfaces and the companion app, provide a lot of flexibility. There are numerous things that can be done by tapping the surfaces in different ways, which I needed some getting used to. But once I got the hang of it (and tweaked it a bit the app since they are customizable), I rarely had to go back to the app. Speaking of the app, it is versatile and packs a lot of features - and that is both its strength and weakness. If you like tinkering, the app provides a lot of customization options, while for other people it can be slightly overwhelming. I hope Technics can work on balancing that out in future updates. ANC and multipoint are some of the premium features that are offered in the AZ80. There are different modes of ANC with different strength that can be set to one’s preference, along with ambient and attention mode transparency modes for sound passthrough when needed. I don’t think the ANC and transparency performance is the best out there, but they are very very usable. It was able to deaden the drone of fans and other humming/buzzing noises from my vicinity quite well, as well as drown out the road noise in a car trip. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to try them out in an airplane setting yet so that’s still an open item to check. In terms of multipoint connectivity, Technics I think leads others at the moment. I was able to connect, and “use” the earbuds with 3 devices (2 Android devices and a Windows laptop) with minimum fuss, even though I had to let go of LDAC and settle for AAC. Most of the time, I was using the 2 device multipoint, which gave LDAC (though in “best effort” mode), and I only disabled that when I was trying to use the best quality LDAC bitrate when listening to the HD tracks from my smartphone. The switching between devices was event-free which is rarely the case with my past earbuds. Being a remote worker, this feature suited me very well indeed. In the end, I think the Technics AZ80 is one of the best true-wireless earbuds currently available, and a definite consideration. It’s a truly underrated product and I’m glad I was able to get it. It’s my daily driver for the foreseeable future.

    HiFi Frustration with BestBuy

They must have been great earbuds, had I ever received them. Purchased enthusiastically on BestBuy.com with overnight shipping option on August 28, followed by 2 weeks plus frustrating wait. Expected delivery dates were changed three times. Had multiple contacts with BestBuy chat support live agents, who were both clueless and helpless to do any help except give me the same details which I could see on my BestBuy account page. The same was the case with the support call center agents. One agent, however, told me that these earbuds are shipped by a vendor and could have been out of stock as Best Buy doesn't know about the vendor's inventory. Also contacted FedEx who claimed that they made a delivery attempt on August 30 but the recipient refused them and now the Shipper needs to call them to make a delivery attempt again ((BestBuy support couldn't help in that option as well). That didn't make any sense as August 30 was Friday and I was working from home and FedEx never showed up. Moreover, the delivery did not require signature where the FedEx driver would have encountered the recipient. The item could have been left at the doorstep. In this case, it seems FedEx has lost the item in transit. But my one-star review is for the poor customer support of BestBuy whose live agents (chat & call ones) are clueless and of not much help, basically reading out to you what your account page's order details say. Hence a complete waste of time! Now waiting for the refund to reflect in my account which they say would take 7-10 business days.

The best earbuds I have ever tested

Let me start out by saying the Technics AZ80 earbuds are fantastic. They are among the best earbuds I have tested. The quality of the buds and case are very impressive. I got the blue version, and they look great. The aluminum case is well constructed as well as the earbuds. They come with a wide selection of ear tips that, unlike a number of other earbuds are actually well packaged and don’t just roll around in the box. They are easy to replace, however I found the ones that came pre-installed fit perfectly. The buds connected very quickly to my Samsung phone as soon as I put them in my ears. You need to download the Technics app which provides some of the most comprehensive set of adjustments I have experienced. Everything from ANC settings to EQ for the earbuds. There are also settings for adjusting the touch controls for the right and left earbuds which is a great feature as I like to be able to adjust volume and other functions from the right earbud and these were set by default on the left. There are several preset EQ settings as well as a custom setting that covers a broad range of frequencies. All of these features typically appear on most high-end earbuds so what makes these AZ80’s special? The sound quality of these earbuds is impressive. The soundstage is wide and open. The bass is tight. The highs are very detailed without being harsh and the midrange blends perfectly. The earbuds are very comfortable and do not feel loose or like they might fall out at any time. The touch sensors are very responsive. Overall, I think these are the best earbuds you can buy for the money. They look great. They work great and they sound fantastic. The AZ80’s out perform much more expensive earbuds that I have tested and will be my go to earbuds from now on.

    Comfortable, great-sounding earbuds

These Technics wireless earbuds live up to the "premium" in their name. For me, the most important factor for earbuds is if they are comfortable when placed in your ear. I have probably a dozen pairs of earbuds, and these Technics are the most comfortable. They come with 8 sets of rubber earpieces, which are organized in a little holder so that you know which size is which. Most other earbuds give you a bag full to randomly fish out and try. One thing these Technics have that I haven't seen before is a routine in the app - yes, you have to download and install yet another app to get full functionality - that plays some test tones and somehow detects how much sound is leaking out of your ear and uses that information to suggest a different earpiece size, which is then tested again, and so on, leading to a recommended size. This worked great for me. With the proper earpiece size installed, the earbuds were very comfortable. Sound quality is excellent. Well-balanced and clear. Deep bass, smooth treble. The app has some pre-defined EQ curves, or you can make your own. I used the bass-boost curve which I think sounded the best. There are also settings for noise reduction calibration and performance levels. I found the default settings to be just right. Battery life is plenty long, I never actually ran the battery down since I put the earbuds in the charger whenever I'm not using them. If I had to complain about one thing, it was slightly difficult to use the multiple taps on each earpiece to control volume, etc. I found it more reliable to use my phone's buttons. Maybe with a bit more practice it will be better. The earpieces and charger/case are metal and well made. A please to own.

We apologize for the issues you're experiencing with your earbuds. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you might find helpful. Try using a different USB Type-C cable and ensure it's firmly connected between the charging case and the power source, whether it's a USB Type-C adapter or a PC USB-C port. Check that each earbud is properly seated in the charging case and is charging. If there's any foreign material like dust or earwax on the charging terminals, this can prevent proper charging. Please clean the charging terminals as described in the operating instructions.
We also recommend resetting the earbuds.
      1. Place both earphones (L and R) in the charging cradle and charge for about 15 minutes.
      2. Remove one earphone (R) from the charging cradle and wear it.
      3. Once you hear the startup sound, touch and hold the (R) earphone's touch sensor until you hear the "pairing" announcement followed by a melody.
      4. Release your finger for 1-2 seconds, then touch and hold the (R) earphone's sensor again until you hear a beep followed by the "completed" announcement.
      5. Return the (R) earphone to the charging cradle.
      6. Repeat these steps for the left earphone (L).
If you do not hear "pairing" after touching the sensor for about 10 seconds, please start again from step 1. If the issue continues, we recommend seeking professional assistance from our authorized service center. -M Panasonic

Earbuds you have alot of choices nowadays, who these are made for? Premium sound and alot of Microphones make them ideal for zoom calls or all day phone call use. In the package you get earbuds, charging case, usb-c cable, and tips. Once you download the app it walks you through trying out the tips until you get the perfect fit for sound. I find them to be comfy enough and feel like I could run with them in without them falling or moving around much. Noise cancellation is top notch competing with other high end competitors Sony, Bose etc. Ambient mode was not as good as I had hoped I feel like I have to take breaks to talk to ppl but if that's important to you; you are probably looking at open type ear buds honestly. Battery life is great all day use at around 8 hrs and over 24 hrs with charging case. Case has wireless charging which should be a necessity this day and age. Bluetooth multipoint connection, ability to connect up to 3 devices simultaneously, so you can quickly switch between tablet, phone, laptop/pc as needed. Works well. Overall quite happy with these I've taken many zoom calls and listened to many hours of music and youtube videos here with no issues. I don't think I would put them above any of the other premium brands but right in line as a front runner, won't go wrong if you choose these.

    Technics Earbuds: Refined Sound

It should be stated, perhaps rather redundantly, that headphone purchases are often made based on if the sound quality of any given model can satisfy our desire to have the utmost highest quality for our budget. It is therefore, not surprising, that some brands and models are often more popular than others given an oversaturated market; while certainly an advantage for choice and competition, some models can largely go unnoticed that can otherwise provide an exceptional experience compared to popular counterparts. Thus, as an audio enthusiast and owner of other headphones, I was extremely excited to try the Technics EAH-AZ80 headphones. For setup, the Technics AZ80 earbuds should be largely familiar to most people. Inside the box, you will note the charging case with the headphones, a USB Type-C charging cable, and shockingly 7 pairs of silicon tips varying in size for you to try (medium size are pre-attached). I was quite happy with this as most models only come with three sizes. As typical of other brands, the Technics AZ80 will point you to download the Technics Music Connect application. While normally these applications are pretty basic, I was pleasantly surprised with this particular alliteration mainly due to the vast amount of settings you can alter; perhaps the most important aspect of the application is you are not forced create an account or have location services turned on to control your earbuds! In my personal opinion, that is worth the price alone. Once you pair your device and download the application, there are a few notable settings that stood out to me. The first is that you can actually control the strength of the noise cancelling which is a huge plus. Typically, it is usually an on or off setting. Alternatively, if you switch to ambient sound, you can control how much sound is let in (maxed by default). If you set your mode to ambient sound, you will then have a choice of either transparent or attention, where attention prioritizes voices. Surprisingly, it works extremely well as there is a drastic difference between the two settings. Moving on, there are six pre-defined presets under the sound settings. You can also create your own custom preset. When you go to settings, you can control even more aspects of the AZ80 anywhere from the touch sensor, to changing the Bluetooth codec, background noise setting, multipoint connections, and automatic shutoff duration. You can even turn the AZ80s off completely. There is even a find my headphones feature as well. Safe to say, this is the most customization I have seen from any application by any manufacturer so this is a huge advantage. Overall, setup should be fairly straightforward. As for the noise cancelling feature, most should be extremely satisfied here. Using these daily in various noisy environments, and especially with being able to adjust the noise cancelling itself, I was able to drown out all of the external noise. Walking outside, I could not discern any traffic noise from the nearby busy intersection. While at home, setting my TV to volume 45, music was still isolated and I could not hear a thing. However, once I started dropping the volume on my phone to 40-50%, some noise started to sip through but I could not specifically discern what was said. Another thing to keep in mind is that depending on what you are listening to will also alter your experience here (i.e. switching from classical/jazz to metal or any other compressed genre and vice versa). Lastly, while listening to music for long sessions, the AZ80s were extremely comfortable; weight wise they are fairly light and I did not experience any discomfort. For my sound tests, I first would like to mention that what I have observed here should be taken with a grain of salt as hearing and sound preferences will vary from individual. Nonetheless, I wanted to at least provide a clearer picture of what to expect with the AZ80s. In addition, I used my Sony Xperia 5 III and listened to my personal CD collection ripped to FLAC 44.1 KHz/16 Bit. I set the AZ80s to the direct preset so no additional processing was added to the sound unless noted otherwise. All of my FLAC files were personally scanned via spectrogram to make sure they are of proper lossless quality. Furthermore, I exclusively listened to everything using the LDAC codec. The device was set to sound quality preferred, despite the Technics application recommending that I switch it to best effort. Lastly, regarding the LDAC codec, I noticed that when connected to Wi-Fi, audio skips seemed to occur more frequently (some rooms were worst than others). It would seem I had better luck with Wi-Fi disabled, but it would still vary. Due to the high bit rate transfer, it’s naturally going to be more sensitive than AAC or SBC, so you will need to adjust accordingly (the codec in use will be displayed at the top left corner in the application). Lastly, keep in mind that depending on which codec you use and if noise canceling is on, the battery life will be affected. For sound quality, generally the AZ80s are extremely pleasing; clarity is nice and center and strikes a fair balance with respect to the highs and middle frequencies. Bass was quite punctual and rumbles were fairly decent across multiple genres. Compared to my Bose, I actually like the AZ80s better with regards to the bass as it doesn’t overdo it here. It is natural sounding, yet still has the ability to reproduce several rolling bass drops. If I were to compare these to my Pi8s, the AZ80s do not get as loud at the same volume level, nor do they hit the same lows, but the AZ80s tend to seem more neutral and dialed back; vocal placement seemed rather even between the two. Switching to the Super Bass preset, you could tell there were noticeable differences here; the low end bass lines and drops had extra weight to it without distorting. Switching to Jazz, I listened to Sonny Rollins “St. Thomas” and it is quite an experience. Everything came through crystal clear. Middle drums taps at around 2:07 are layered quite nicely over the double bass and saxophone. The symbols at around 3:48 are softly tapped but clear. Next, I switched over to more instrumental music. On Fat Jon's "624, Part 2" once the bass line enters in at around 0:18 seconds, the middle tapping is extremely potent, layered perfectly with the piano and the bass notches. On “Funkin” there is a nice bass line throughout, amplified by multiple layers of various jazz influenced sounds. The piano lines throughout really adds to the mix. Overall, the AZ80s did a fine job here. Next I switched to Septicflesh's "A Prototype In Heaven (Orchestra Version)" one in which has a good balance of choir and orchestra. At 2:14, everything drops real low with the cello and basses, upon which the choir comes in at 2:20, striking a good contrast between the two sounds. For rock genres, I switched to Gin Blossom’s “Follow You Down” which strikes a fairly good balance in the middle frequencies. At around 3:30-3:35, there is some stellar separation with the harmonica on top of the vocals. There is also a nice bass guitar line at 2:40-2:50 that really sticks out. Switching to trance, I fired up Temple One’s “Together We Escape,” of which at around 3:15, the vocals and ambient sounds blend perfectly; at 4:15, the higher frequencies start to become more noticeable; the bass line starts to get a little more active before everything blends together at 5:04! Lastly, I moved to the metal genre with Trivium’s “Down From The Sky,” and despite being slightly more compressed than the other songs I listened to, clarity was still decent. At 3:12, the bass guitar stands out here and will increasingly get more separated and distinct with respect to the other guitars at around 3:54-4:09. Additionally, the harsh vocals did not seem to bleed into the instruments. Overall, I was quite impressed with the sound quality of the AZ80s. In conclusion, the sound quality of the AZ80s is quite impressive across a multitude of genres. The AZ80s are fairly restraint and neutral in sound, but extremely clear and quite balanced. I think most will be quite satisfied with the results. In addition, the AZ80s sports an impressive application that allows more customization than any other headphones I have personally used. With impressive noise cancelling performance and extensive codec support, the Technics AZ80 deserves a fair consideration if you are looking for new headphones. While the price may deter some, they are at least positioned quite aggressively with others in this price range. Therefore, the Technics AZ80s come highly recommended.

For the most part, I like these. THE GOOD ~ Lightweight ~ Great call quality ~ Can connect to multiple phones/devices at one time ~ Great battery life ~ Decent bass THE BAD ~ Can pop out THE MEH (can go either way) ~ Very sensitive controls OVERALL I have two different versions of these. Overall, I like these. I definitely prefer them to the slightly lower version. The call quality on these Technics is very good. I drive a Jeep that can get a little noisy at times. Despite the ambient noise, I never have any issues hearing people. Even better than that, the people I'm talking to do not get the background noise. I've used other headphones (not Technics) that constantly had people telling me it was too noisy or that I sounded like I am in a fishbowl. That is never an issue with these. I carry around two phones daily. One is for work and the other personal. These ear buds easily connected to both phones. This makes driving and communicating very easy. Before having this capability, I needed two sets of ear buds or needed to take them out so I could take calls on my other device. Music sounds very good on these. My complaint with the lesser Technics was that it lacked bass when it came to music. These actually have a good sounding bass on them. I work out daily and like to have my music in the gym. That extra bass and good sound quality (and volume) make focusing much easier. Another thing I enjoy is that when I pop them in my ears, a small alert pops up on my phone, telling me how much battery life each bud and the carrying case have. The case also has a small LED to indicate the charge (green is good, red is low). The only two drawbacks I've found is: the earbuds may sometimes pop out and occasionally, I go to push the bud back into my ear and stop my music or drop my call. I'm a runner, but an injury has me off the trails for now, so I couldn't test how they would do on a trail run. I worry they might pop out. To be fair, though, I had another brand that sometimes popped out too and only once or twice did I lose one while running. THE BIG QUESTION Would I recommend these to others? Absolutely. I have several different types of ear buds, but for every day usage, these are by far my favorite.

Premium equals 10mm Driver Upgrade ! Drop the Bass

Technics has a brand heritage and history that's synonymous with quality and performance. My knowledge of them prior to having these was their turntables and their upper echelon home tower speakers. The sound clarity and power handling were unreal which is why when I saw these I knew I needed to try them out to see if they were anything like their big brothers. The first thing that stood out from the pack about these ear buds was the fact that through their Multipoint connection technology you can connect them to three different things at once. Second would be they have a 10mm free edged dynamic driver that gives a really nice bass in the ear. They are IPX4 water resistant, I never knew what the ratings meant but this means they're good against "splashed water" (the ear buds themselves, not the charging case!) So to be safe I wouldn't get them near water definitely can't swim with them! They're quoted as having seven hours of play time with ANC turned on, and with the case having an additional twenty-four hours of power. I have yet to listen to music anywhere near that long to test them without putting them back in the case while I'm not using them and then they've been fully charged again. In the box you're gonna have a wide variety of bud sizes, usually I see three ..small, medium, and large. Extra small type one, extra small type 2, Small one, Small two, Medium, Large, and extra large. So 7 ! different sizes! You get a usb type C cord for your case but to be honest its ridiculously short! The styling and look of both the case and the buds looks expensive with a black brushed aluminum top with the Technics logo on top! The case is wirelessly rechargeable so the extra short wire they provide you with isn't a necessity if you already have a wireless charger. These sound amazing.. crisp and clear, a nice bass. Especially after tweaking things in the app. If you're looking for ear buds that'll check all of the boxes these are the ones! They do have these which are the upgrade or next model up from the HiFi True Wireless Earbuds. The only difference between the two are the upgrade in driver size from 8mm to 10mm which like in any sound system more size, more sound. you're getting a better bass in my opinion. $50 difference between the two to get the upgrade is worth it to me!

It's been a while since I've tried a new pair of wireless earbuds that have impressed me. Most are generally the same in terms of function and quality is generally the same once you're looking at a certain range of models. That said, these are definitely an improvement over Beats or Airpods in a few ways. First, is comfort, they included several ear tips so you can get the fit dialed in just right and while they look like they are bulky/heavy they actually look great with a unique modern but retro look to them. Once I was able to get the fit just right, setting them up and pair them was super simple and the controls are intuitive and easy to figure out with the app. Inside the app you can customize the audio settings and noise cancellation based on your preference an update them. The first item that impressed me a lot was the noise cancelling and audio quality. The new technology these use is really something, they block out nearly all background noise and sound amazing. It's one of those things that I can say once you try these and compare to others that have noise cancelling at least for me they seem like they definitely do a better job in this area, especially in noisy environments. The audio quality aside to that is great, well balanced, with not too much bass but not so weak that they sound weak either. I'd say every bit as good as other leading buds but better. In this area they are just outstanding and exceeded my expectation. The second is the ability to par to 3 devices and easily switch from one to another with ease. Wow! At first, I didn't realize how useful this is but having them paired to your phone, tablet and PC/Laptop/Macbook is awesome because it makes having others for those almost irrelevant. Like if you're doing a Teams call on your PC and then want to jump to music on your phone once your done, is just as simple as clicking a button. For me, I like the case though it is a bit bulky to just slip into your pocket. That'd be my only gripe and I think for the battery life these have it's a fair trade off as it's just as easy to throw them in my bag. Outside of that these are great and definitely are premium and are HiFi which is exactly what came to mind when I think of the Technics brand. They deliver and are absolutely a recommend.

Wireless earbuds you can wear all day

These earbuds are supposed to be noise canceling. I am not really impressed with their noise canceling feature. I do like the hear through feature though. When walking outside with them, I still hear noises around me with the noise cancellation feature turned on. You are supposed to be able to adjust it using the Technics app, but I can’t seem to hear any difference when adjusting the noise cancelling. This model is pretty comfortable. There is another version that is similar to this one, but slightly larger. The larger one is not as comfortable as this one. I can wear one in my ear pretty much all day and it doesn’t bother me. I like to wear one earbud in my right ear that is connected to my phone. I can answer calls with it or listen to music. The microphone does work well. When using the earbud microphone, the other party told me that the sound is pretty good. The range is very good. I can leave my phone at my desk and will not lose connection when going out into our shop area unless I am at least 20 -30 yards away from my desk. The battery will last all day at work when I put it back in the case for about 30 minutes while I take a lunch. I think it would probably last 8 hours anyway, but I have not tried leaving it out of the charging case during lunch. The sound quality is good and can be tailored to your personal taste. There is a Technics Audio Connect app that goes with it. You can update your firmware using the app as well as set the sound the way you like it. There are several preset sound settings and one that you can set to your liking. The controls are not great. I continue to struggle to just pause/play or answer the phone. This should be simple tap, but I just can’t get it to work the first time every time. It generally takes a couple of tries to get it to work. I am only rating it 4 out of 5 due to the noise cancellation feature and the way the control function.

Technics AZ80E-A These are great earbuds! I have the Blue color which I find classy and subtle. The case is very well made with a great quality feel as you open and close it. The earbuds are held in and aligned properly by magnets that pull the buds into the case with lights to verify they are in correctly. It almost seems to be made from aluminum, but pretty sure it has to be plastic since it allows wireless charging through the bottom. These paired to my iPhone 15 quickly and easily. After pairing, as soon as I removed them from the case and put them in my ears, they make a nice sound and say “connected” in each ear to confirm you are paired and ready to go. I have used these buds several times and each time they pair quickly, easily, and without a glitch. While in use, I can remove one and the music pauses which makes it easy to talk to someone that approaches me. Putting it back in my ear, the music starts playing consistently. And yes, you can use just one at a time. The app should be downloaded to take advantage of features you won’t even know are there. Out of the box, they sounded good, but not great. They seemed to lack some highs. However, be aware, I have some high frequency loss of hearing so that is probably in my head! I used the app, set the EQ to Treble+ and that’s my favorite setting. If I feel like I want more exhilarating sounds, I use Dynamic. Bass can be enhanced as well, but I found with the proper ear cushions the base is more than adequate. Its tight and present, but not overdone like a Disco. If you want that, then the app has a Super Bass setting. Within the app there is a routine to help the noise cancelling and it is best to adjust it in a noisy environment. There is also a routine to help you find the best size of ear cushion to fit your ear for that better base as well as better noise cancelling effects. After that you can adjust noise cancelling from nothing to 100% and anything in between. The app will also show you current charge levels for each bud and the case, as well as offer a “Find my Headphone” routine by emitting a sound or by location information! I love listening to these Earbuds. They have a great lively natural sound that is not annoying or creating an overly enhanced sound. This makes listening to them comfortable and not tiring to your ears. I have maybe 10 pairs of earbuds and they each have their own personality, Some more crisp, some with heavy bass, and some just right. These are the latter, just right. The ear cushions and the shape of the ear buds fit nicely in my ears and are comfortable for long periods of time. The only negative I see is some lack of intuitiveness of the touch controls. Pause is one push on either bud which is ok. I would prefer Volume increase on the right bud with sound decrease on the left bud along with song advance on the right and song back on the left bud. Minor complaint, but some manufacture’s offer customization by the user and that would be a great idea to complete the features of these premium earbuds. CONCLUSION: Great earbuds! Feature laden, consistent, dependable operation. The app offers many features to enhance the experience. I really enjoy the easy startup, quality sound, and ability to wear comfortably for long periods. I don’t think many users would be disappointed! I would definitely recommend these premium earbuds to my friends.

    Favorite Buds I own

These are by far my favorite earbuds I own. They are comfortable, I hardly realize they are even in my ears. The noise cancelling is the best I have tried. The sound is clear and crisp. The mic is one of the best I have used. Battery life is on par with the best of them, I have been on support calls for multiple hours with them in and hardly touched the battery. Now for some specifics. These work so well on multiple devices. I have them paired with 2 computers, a tablet and a cell phone. I can switch between them all without issue. The worst I have had to do is go into Bluetooth settings on a device and click connect. They are now part of my Google profile so it switches almost seamlessly between my Android devices. They also shows on my Chromebook, which I never paired them with. That amazed me for some reason. The noise cancelling is ideal. When working from home, at times I need to be able to drown out the surroundings. I did not hear a timer going off in the kitchen (2 rooms away) until I took one bud out at the end of my meeting. Needless to say the chicken was 'blackened' or well done. Depending on your cooking terminology. Like I mentioned briefly, the sound is awesome. Excellent high reproduction but the bass is a little lacking like any bud. These are probably the best sounding I have used. The only ones that would compare them too is a pair of high end buds I owned I lost when they fell out of my pocket. I won't name the company, but they are high end and well known for their speakers and audio equipment. I have been looking for a comparable set ever since with a slightly larger case that I would notice if I dropped them. The IP rating is escaping me, and I don't have the packaging handy. But they will withstand a workout or sweaty yard work day without an issue. Bottom line, these are fantastic. If you are on the fence, go for it.

I wanted to love the Technics Premium HiFi Wireless Earbuds, but after testing them out for a week I just don’t think I can recommend them over the competition. They do have great sound, excellent noise canceling, solid battery life, and a plethora of software features. However, the case looks and feels cheap, the software features rely on a bad app, and ultimately they are just too expensive to recommend to all. Sound quality is excellent and the app has lots of customization within. They support your higher end audio codecs so you definitely are getting some of the best sound from these earbuds. When I turn on noise canceling, I really block out the world. The noise canceling rivals most other earbuds on the market. The battery life is good enough! I take them on and off throughout my 10 hour workday and don’t have to charge them every night. I already have a lot of wireless chargers around the house so having wireless charging is great. The app does have a great interactive walkthrough on how to find the best eartips, of which they pack a ton in the box. My ear canals are lop-sided and when I’ve tested other software-based ear tip fittings with other earbuds, they just recommend one size. The app found that noise canceling worked best with a different size for each ear. What’s tough is that on a technical level, their main purpose of listening to music and noise canceling are absolutely fantastic. However, everything around that experience feels half baked. I struggle to get them to connect even to one device let alone 3. I often have to open the app and click setup new earbuds before it recognizes the earbuds that have already been paired. The case, while metal on the outside looks and feels cheap. The controls are finicky on the earbuds. When I have one earbud in, why can’t I use the one earbud to toggle noise canceling on and off. Let alone, why does it have noise canceling on when I only have one earbud in? Earbuds are meant to be your on the go companion. Fast and easy to use. These are anything but. However, once you get connected, you’re going to have an amazing audio experience. Pros: Great sound Excellent noise canceling Good battery life Wireless charging Eartip fitting walkthrough in app Cons: Cheap feeling Expensive 3 Device Multipoint isn’t seamless App is bad Controls are finicky
