Smooth and balanced
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice balanced sound top to bottom. The only drawback is that the buds are really small and difficult to handle out of your ears. A little pricey but worth it for this level of sound.

Great all around performer - only some minor nits
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I am quite pleased with these Technics EAH-AZ80arbuds. I may be a bit generous, but I have awarded them five stars. I could have given them 4.5 if possible (see details below), but they do everything well so I have upped it to a 5. They sound great and are full sounding. They are at least better than all buds I have (and I have had over a half dozen of them). The controls are very good and customizable, but I am demanding here and would like to see a bit more customization. The ANC is very good, but probably not as good as buds from some other manufacturers of premium priced buds. Due to an injury, I could not run with them, but I used them extensively in a gym and on cardio machines. The buds stayed firmly in place and are comfortable, but they are a bit heavier and larger than some of my other buds so I do wonder how I would do with them on a long run. Given their IPX4 rating, I am not concerned with my excessive perspiration. DETAILS: Packaging/Contents: The small box came with a small Quick Start Guide (QSG) sheet and a very thick safety and warranty card with very small printing. There are QR codes for the Android and ios apps, but nothing for a manual. However, I searched on the web and found a very detailed 68 page Owners Manual (OM) and easily downloaded the PDF file. Note a PDF of the QSG was also easily downloadable. What was also impressive is that there were seven pairs of different sized tips included. There was another QR code which led to instructions for determining the best earbud size. I followed those and selected the XL size. I thought L would be the correct size, but after using the buds extensively, I agree that the XLs were optimal - not only for fit, but noise cancellation. Note that the medium size was originally installed. Page 38 of the OM describes this process well. The charging cradle, and its indications, does not stand out as exceptional, but it is fine and sensible in showing charge status. It does QI charging very well - a great feature. There was also a standard USB C charging cable included, but no AC adapter which has become standard unfortunately. Pairing: It was simple and easy. I paired with a phone, tablet and a couple of stand alone MP3 players that I use in the gym. All went very well. The 3 way multipoint does seem to work as advertised - although sometimes my MP3 players did not auto reconnect with the buds. But this may not be an indictment on the Technics as this is a common occurrence. It could just be the MP3 player. The Technics did connect with my phone every time. What I also liked was that the instructions described pairing with both phones/tablets and stand alone MP3 players. Nice touch. I also appreciate the voice though the buds saying when pairing is successful. In fact, the voice is very good - and better than previous buds I have owned - for instance - you know when you have togged ANC on and off. Great. Settings/Controls: There is a find earbuds feature. I set that pretty easily, but honestly have not used it yet. I trust it will work if I need it. As for the controls - I liked them. The default settings were ok, but I wanted to change the ANC toggle so I would not have to depress the right earbud for 2 seconds. Using the app, I reassigned this to a 1 tap on the left bud. It works great - this is fantastic for a setting where one wants to have a conversation immediately. However, there were some limitations. I wanted to reassign what happens when you hold down for 2 seconds to lower the volume and could not. I do not like to double or triple tap for volume - I'd rather touch/hold for that, but could not set it to that function (and it is more important to keep the single tap on the right but for play/pause). This is a small, but real, nit for me. I've had buds that do much worse tho, and these are as good as another pair I own. The only voice assistants supported appear to be Alexa. Since I use Google, and I do not prefer using voice assistant anyway I did not try that. I did set to "voice assistant on your smartphone" and briefly tried it, but it was not responsive. You probably will get better results if you spend some time with it. App: The app was well laid out and intuitive. There are lots of settings. Definitely better than some of the non-premium buds I own, but not sure if it excels over other premium buds. I was able to easily set my preferred equalizer custom settings. I also set ambient sound control and ANC levels. The manual page 43 wasn't totally clear on the latter, but I think I figured it out. There are also many other settings that you can customize. It is very thorough. There is a firmware update setting too. I tried that, but it stated my firmware is up to date. The latest firmware date is August 31, 2023, and I am a bit perplexed that there is nothing more recent. Performance: They shine. Simple as that. They sound terrific. Bass is full and balanced. They are dynamic. LDAC support is great (but no aptX). The midrange voice is very clear and crisp. Very enjoyable. Again, I custom set the equalizer and they are about as good as I have heard. ANC is good, but honestly, I was hoping for better. Noise cancellation in a gym environment is indeed excellent. However, noise from a mower engine and a hair dryer while blocked somewhat still came through more than expected given the price of these. It is on par with a pair of buds that I have that are about half the cost (although I specifically purchased those buds due to the great reviews they received for ANC). However, the sound, controls and features of these are much better. Technics quotes a 7 hour battery life with ANC. I can say I used these for almost that long and they still were holding a charge. I also appreciated the chime and voice feedback from the buds when something changes (like ANC, pairing, etc.) as not all buds do that. They also worked fine for the phone calls I made. SUMMARY: Basically see the "Performance" paragraph directly above. They sound great, fit well, are comfortable, have good battery life, and have very good controls. Build quality is definitely premium. They pair easily, have 3 way multipoint (only 2 with LDAC). They work well for me in the gym, although I am unsure if they would be great for running since they are a bit larger and heavier than my "go to" running buds. They do ANC well, but I was hoping for a bit more blocking of engine noise given their price. All in all however, a great, all around package here. They may not be cheap, but I do recommend them.

Poor ANC - not for commuters
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that if you are looking for premium ANC earbuds for commuting, these are not for you. They do an ok job filtering the lowest frequencies, but anything higher than, probably a few hundred Hz, no dice. While waiting for my train, passing trains completely drown out my music (I actually feel like the train noise is being piped in through the buds). On the train I hear every creak, bump, etc. I can clearly hear announcements. And conversations are audible (though not always intelligible). Additionally, while walking with ANC enabled, even a light breeze rumbles through the earbuds (absolutely no wind suppression). It's a shame because the sound quality is excellent. Unfortunately, that's about the only real positive I can report. These buds ship with 7 ear tips sizes - which gave me hope that I would find a good fit. It's unfortunate that 5 of the 7 are medium and smaller. And the "large" and "x-large" just aren't. And, before you say that's why the ANC is not effective, I have premium silicone tips that seal well and pass the app's fit test. Speaking of the app, though powerful, it is unnecessarily complicated. For instance, there are two different places to set the strength of the ANC (overall strength and, as best I can figure, a frequency filter). The one good thing about the app is the ability to customize the tap controls. I own an almost two year old pair of Sony WF- 1000XM4 that I'm looking to replace. They have very good audio (though not as good as the Technics) and very good ANC (perhaps not quite as good as the current Bose QC2, but pretty close). But overall they check more boxes than the current crop of premium (EXPENSIVE) ANC earbuds I've tried.

Outstanding Audio Quality!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics HiFi True Wireless Earbuds aren't the cheapest earbuds on the market, but they sure are worth the price. I am one who enjoys music. I listen almost everyday to a wide variety of genres. I have yet to find something that doesn't sound good with these earbuds! Impressive audio quality is paired with active noise cancellation to deliver the best listening experience. A lot of bluetooth earbuds can only be paired to one device at a time. The Technics earbuds can be linked up to three devices at one time! I love the way they look! The side of the earbuds reminds me of the way a vinyl record is textured. The matching color charging case is small and easily slides into your pocket. The USB C port on the back can be used to charge the case and earbuds, or you can place the earbuds back in the case and sit the case on a wireless Qi charger. It charges wirelessly! Thats a nice addition to this set of earbuds! Controlling, updating, or changing the settings on the earbuds can be done using the downloaded app on your smartphone. It can be customized to work with voice assistants as well! The earbuds are IPX4 water resistant, but the case is not water resistant. Multiple sets of earbud tips are included in the box to ensure maximum comfort and the perfect fit when you put them in your ears. Technics has a history of impressive quality and that is no different with these bluetooth earbuds! You'll enjoy these feature packed earbuds! Go ahead and invest in great audio quality!

nice buds with good performance and fucntions
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got these in to try. I do a lot of yard work around the house and wanted something that would provide some sound cancelation with good audio quality. But also comfortable to wear for hours on end. Build is quite nice. I was a little concerned opening the package but the buds are quite light. I guess the battery in the case that provided multiple recharges was the weight. The case in your pocket isn't an issue at all. Noise cancelation was a big feature for me. They worked quite well. I really enjoyed using the app to maximize this feature and help me select the proper fitting. Really enjoyed this small feature that made a huge difference. Sound quality was really nice. I've had several buds and this didn't drop any quality. I was able to adjust the EQ via the app. And get the type of sound I wanted. No issues here at all! Over the course of utilization. Got a bit of debris flying and sweat. The buds held up quite well. and the IPX4 allowed me to simply rinse them off when done and put in the case. I was not able to test the wireless Qi charging but the included USB-C cable charged them fine and quickly. The App provides charge status and pops up as soon as you open the case on my Android phone. So I was never running out of power during my listening sessions. Highly recommended - work well and really like them!

High quality at its best
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Technics EAH-AZ80 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-ear Earbuds are an excellent option for those looking for high-quality wireless earbuds with noise-canceling capabilities. The earbuds have a sleek and stylish design with a slight ruggedness. The sound quality is outstanding, with crisp, clear audio and a well-balanced soundstage. The bass is deep and punchy without overpowering the lows and highs. The noise canceling technology is effective at blocking out background noise. . Although not considered sports earbuds, I used the earbuds in the gym for a 45-minute workout. The earbuds did not fall off my ears. The Technics EAH-Z80 offers up to 7 hours of listening time, with an additional 15 hours of battery life provided by the charging case. The charging case can be used wirelessly or with a Type C cord. The mic did a good job picking out my voice while drowning out all of the residual noise. This can be attributed to the four mics in each earbud as well as a noise-canceling algorithm. I used the earbuds for several hours and did not experience any connectivity issues. The App provides responsive, customized controls. The main page has all the information and features you will use daily. The App monitors battery power levels in earbuds and the charging case. You can tweet the noise canceling feature on a fly, change the exact level of noise canceling, and toggle through the ambient sounds seamlessly. The App has audio presets; Direct is the default, Bass and Super Bass. The Dynamic and Custom Board (EQ) feature can help you fine-tune the audio output. The earbuds have Alexa built-in, or you can use the voice assistant on your smartphone to control some of the features. The earbuds have wear detection, where you pluck one earbud out, and the audio stops. The Multipoint feature in the App permits you to listen on one device and seamlessly switch to another device (thanks to Bluetooth 5.3) by just pressing play on the other device without first manually pressing pause. So it is super convenient. You can even connect to three devices at the same time. This is good for those using a combination of a Mac tablet, iPhone, or an IOS device. The Technics EAH-AZ80 box comes with wireless buds, a charging case and cable, a user guide, a safety manual, and seven sizes of silicone ear tips to ensure a comfortable and secure fit. The App has settings to improve sound quality with SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs. I found there were no issues with latency for videos but there was a slight delay with gaming. The App is easy to use. It provides an abundance of customized settings that support your listening enjoyment. I would like to see Technics make a couple of App upgrades. Technics should include quick access to the LDAC feature in the home screen. There should be an option to manage the Multipoint pairing in the home screen, so you know which device is connected to the earbuds. And lastly, the EQ only has five bands. Technics should improve the EQ customization. Overall, the Technics EAH-AZ80 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-ear Earbuds are an excellent option for those looking for high-quality wireless earbuds with noise-cancelling capabilities. These earbuds offer superior sound quality, comfort, and design.

Impressive sound from Technics
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Panasonic Technics Premium HiFi True Wireless Earbuds for several days now and have listened to them daily. And all that listening was done on a single charge of the case with earbuds stored inside, so battery life seems very good. These EAH-AZ80 earbuds certainly live up to their premium designation, very stylish and elegant design, solid build, and most impressive sound. I feel like they sound better each time I use them. It certainly helps to properly fit the earbuds to my ears and Panasonic gives you seven different sizes to choose from. It can be challenging to figure out which size fits best but finding that good fit is important to get the best audio quality. That is especially important when it comes to getting a rich full sound with lots of bass, as well as for optimum noise cancellation. I find the earbuds to be very comfortable to wear for long periods and easy to insert into the ear, take out, and place back in their case. While I wouldn’t call myself a technical audiophile by any measure, I do appreciate listening to all different kinds of music and these earbuds offer incredible sound across the spectrum. The bass comes across deep yet punchy and you can even feel the kick of the bass drum, while the mid and higher frequencies are clean and bright. I appreciate bass but I really love the high end frequencies from brass instruments and percussion, and these deliver. The Technics Audio Connect app allows complete customization of the sound, using either presets or you can configure your own custom settings using a 5-band equalizer. The same goes for Noise Cancellation and/or Ambient sound settings, all customizable within the app. Basic control adjustments can be made while listening, simply by tapping the earbuds outer shell, and that includes adjusting volume up and down, skipping backward and forward through your playlist, or when taking phone calls, etc. I have listened to everything from Rush to Natalie Merchant and Steely Dan to Waylon Jennings to get broad appreciation of the sound that is delivered by these earbuds, and it was all enjoyable music to my ears. When it comes to assessing noise reduction, I tend to only use earbuds or headphones while listening to music at home, so I can’t comment about how well it works for such things as commuting on public transit, for example. They do seem to work well when my wife is in the room watching television, especially if I am just relaxing and getting lost in the music. In conclusion, I really appreciate all the features that Panasonic packed into these earbuds. They even state in their Quick Start Guide their wish that you go beyond technology and rediscover the magic and emotion that music offers in a diverse culture of music in the world. These earbuds certainly live up to that pledge.

Technics have just made the best buds you can buy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technics are back and these earbuds are right up there with the best of them. Technics was always a brand that was known for high quality audio. The Z80M are exactly that. The packaging is similar to the slight cheaper z60m and the unboxing is identical with what you get in the box. You get 7 different types of ear tips which is a great thing as you’re almost guaranteed to find the best fit for you. The earbuds themselves are extremely comfortable and in the black they are quite discreet, they don’t stick out and they don’t give me any ear fatigue at all. They look great and give you that technics look. These are also ipx4 rated so fine for working out but be aware the case has no ratings at all. The case is a nice size and also supports Qi wireless charging Battery life on these is really good too, I’m getting a hair over 7 hours with ANC enabled and 9 without it which is right up there with the top dogs. These are also the first earbud to offer 3 way multipoint connectivity and it works perfectly. Pause your music on one device and carry on listening on any of the the 2 other device you have paired. I’ve never had multipoint work so well, technics nailed it. The ANC is also right up there with the best you can get providing uninterrupted listening while keeping the high quality audio that these produce. They also have transparency mode which still works great but not quite the quality of the ANC. Overall very solid The app is the same as you use with the z60 and as I mentioned in that review it is by far the best app I’ve used on any earbuds. It’s feature filled and easy to use. Now the most important part. The sound on these is in my opinion the best you can get at this price point. Sound separation is the best I’ve heard with instruments and different voices coming through in rich detail, the lows are so nice and smooth. The soundstage on these is above the rest and offer a consistent high quality no matter what music you play. And with the EQ in the app you can dial them in even more to your liking. Technics hit a home run with these and I highly recommend you trying these over the usual suspects at this price. You will not be disappointed

Not worth the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Earbuds are not as expected. The sound is not very loud. Issues with answering calls and audio quality while on call. Used These for an outdoor workout and you can hear the wind in the buds. Never encountered this with other brands. The buds pop out the case if dropped, even on a soft surface. I really wanted to like these n brag all about them but unfortunately I’d be lying.

Posted .Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We are sorry to read that your experience was less than 5-stars. If you find the earbuds are not loud enough during music playback or phone calls, it's important to note that the volume of Bluetooth devices, like smartphones, and the earbuds themselves can be controlled separately. Try increasing the volume on both the earbuds and the connected Bluetooth device. If you're using an iPhone, navigate to Settings, select Sound & Haptics, then go to “Headphone Safety” and disable "Reduce Loud Sounds". Regarding the issue with wind noise, enabling noise cancelling might enhance your listening experience. While noise cancelling is effective against constant background noise, it may not be as effective against sporadic noises such as wind. Although our earbuds are designed to minimize wind noise, complete elimination might not be possible depending on the environmental conditions or type of wind. We advise against dropping the earbuds case, even onto soft surfaces, as frequent impacts can damage the hardware. Ensure that the earbuds are correctly placed inside the case so that it closes securely. If you continue to experience audio issues, consider resetting the product as a potential solution.
1. Put both earphones (L and R) into the charging cradle and charge for about 15 minutes.
2. Take one earphone (R) out from the charging cradle and wear it.
3. After you hear the startup sound of earphone, touch and hold the (R) earphone touch sensor.
4. After you hear the word announcement of "pairing" followed by a melody sound from (R) earphone, release your finger from the (R) earphone touch sensor for 1-2 seconds.
5. Again Touch and hold (R) earphones touch sensor until you hear a beep followed by the word announcement of "completed.
6. Put earphone (R) back into the charging cradle.
7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 above for earphone (L).
We truly hope this helps! -M
