My daughter upgraded from a TI 84 to this model for the features she was lacking even for a High School Sophomore in Honors Algebra 2. The color features for graphing and that it's also very lightweight are bonus. Best Buy price matched too.

Rechargeable battery is a good option but also the battery discharge is very low and single charge lasts for months. Good calculator for beginners as well as advanced users. Don't see any negatives for the 2 months usage so far.

For advanced calculations and graphing, this calculator has unlimited usefulness. One might think a smartphone app would be the better way to go, but you can't take a smartphone into a test. I really like the advent of the color screen for being able to differentiate graphs, it makes a difference. TI has built a good, robust product for years, so I trust this to make it through a number of years of school.
