It's the TI-84 Graphing Calculator. It's the standard calculator for schools. It's easy to use. It's also built around the Zilog Z80 microprocessor--a microprocessor that first went on the market in 1976. This calculator descends from the TI-81, which entered the market in 1990. The first TI-84 entered the market in 2004. These calculators are by now dirt cheap to make and the R&D costs have long since been recovered. They should be checkout lane impulse buys by now. But they're the calculators all the schools use because they're the calculators in all the math textbooks. So they charge this much because they can. Yes, I would "recommend this to a friend", but only grudgingly, because I know it' the calculator all the other kids are using and it's probably the only one the teacher will be able to help with. If you have a little extra money to spend, spring for the color screen version.

Great powerful calculator! My daughter loves it for school. Came in fresh and new from Best Buy. It had all the functions required for her subjects. Everything worked great and the price was also good!

Texas instruments always makes a great calculator. I purchased this one to replace an old TI-83, which still works. The ports are added since my 83, but everything else is located in the same spot. It was very easy to pick up & start using. It also has built in instructions.

This thing does so much I'm not sure what else it's capable of doing. This will be the last calculator you ever buy unless your like some super math wiz that need a calculator that can calculate how long it would take for you to get to mars driving a Prius with both eyes closed, hands behind your back and little Wayne rapping in passenger seat to "let it go" from frozen!

Exactly what my kid needed when all the super stores were out! He is charging it for the first time since purchase-battery held for months!

Easy to use, durable and a great calculator for a high school student

This TI calculator is a must for anyone taking higher education math related courses or anyone in a math related field. It has everything that you would need for calculus, algebra, geometry, statistics, biology, etc. with the exception of color graphics that come with the plus model, this calculator has everything. If you can get it in sale, even better.

I have purchased this calculator for each of my children during their high school years. It seems to be the go-to calculator for math and science classes. They have stood up to multiple years of use and my oldest child has taken hers to college. Definitely recommend this calculator.

My teenager let me know at the last minute that she needed a new calculator for school. They were sold out at some stores and hard to find and very expensive. Best Buy has the best price, she got any cool color and it works fantastic. Another great buy from Best Buy and you can always rely on Texas Instrument!
