Great Action Film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is more of an action flick than the title suggests. Christian Wolff (Ben) is a math savant who works as a freelance accountant for some of the world's most dangerous criminal organizations. He takes on a legitimate client where an accounting clerk has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise. Ben Affleck is perfect for this part. There are many twists and turns and a bit of a surprise ending. Watch it! You won't be disappointed.

I need to finish!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Imagine Jason Bourne being good at math. Well that's what this film is about. No Ben is not a super spy agent that washed up ashore and had a complete memory wipe, no Chris is a gifted kid that is raised by a father that does not understand his son's needs. He grows up to lead a double life one that involves complex mathematical processes and another one where he straight up smokes people.

Slow but interesting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought it was an interesting setup, but the pacing was very slow and for many, a boring movie. I thought it was a good setup and good solid action. Definitely worth $12. About an excellent accountant who is under everyone's radar. He can leave at a moments notice and disappear. He does an audit with a company and finds many irregularities with Anna Kendrick. He and Anna run away from the bad guys and tries to find out who is trying to hide money and also who is trying to kill them. A real interesting twist at the end and also the battle scenes were quite interesting. For those who are looking for constant action like John Wick, this is not your movie. If you want a thinking mans movie, you will probably like it. Anna Kendrick is adorable as always. She always does a good job.

Forensic accountant by day vigilante by night
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a Blu-ray disc, this title looked great on my Sony 900c both purchased from Best Buy. The movie starts out with some character development showing how Ben's character had some autism problems. This may have had something to do with his math and analytical abilities. Although he has trouble connecting with people, he develops an interesting relationship w someone he works with. Then the plot thickens and he starts solving crimes ultimately to confront something with a great plot twist. This was a great movie and I will be looking forward to watching it again.

Awesome action and interesting story
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I saw the trailers for this and was interested, but ultimately skipped it in the theatre in favour of other features. I am so glad I picked it up on disc though. The story kept me interested the whole time, largely because the main character is quite different from most action heroes. His history is revealed in small flashbacks throughout the movie and fleshes him out as a person. You end up finding out a lot of things tie into each other, some predictable, others not. The action scenes keep things lively.

Excellent Action Flick!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ben Affleck presents a very different type of character, which I think is very plausible. Trained by his father to be able to thrive despite his disability and continue to use his mathematical genius, this autistic man has developed his own moral code. His father also developed both his son's physically by overcoming their self-imposed limitations by digging for deeper reservoirs of strength also adds to this very interesting anti-hero. Great story, loved the movie and the action scenes were excellent. I highly recommend it!

Great Sleeper movie of 2016
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Accountant really has everything that you would want in a film, it is smart, witty, thrilling and edge of your seat action. Ben Affleck has only been getting better and better in his roles, and this movie is no different. He at times seems like he is only obsessed with his accounting work, only to realize how brutal he really is after his work is complete. Overall I thought that this was a great movie touching upon that even autistic people can be not only functional in society, but be successful.

Surprise Hit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Watching the trailer of this film you might think "hmm that looks decent" but after watching it you will say "wow that was freakin amazing!" One of the big surprise films of last year. If you're a fan of John Wick, Jason Bourne, Die Hard, etc., you will be a fan of this movie. Interesting take on a character, lots of subtleties, lots of action, good character development, surprise twists and turns, and a cool underground world of assassins and mercenaries makes this a must see film for any action/suspense fan.

a great plot-twisted action-packed thriller
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An action thriller with a autistic math savant as the central character. The film has many plot twists and the main character has many of the behaviors of autistic men. The action is very believable. The three special features are well-done and insightful. The trailers for other films only appear when the disc is initially loading.

The Accountant One Layman's Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a huge Ben Affleck fan, but I really liked this movie. It's a good script and the film is well-edited. No spoilers here, but the plot twists are good. His character outsmarts the bad guys here as a high-functioning autistic, just as his character does in Paycheck, another Affleck movie with a good plot.

A Mixed Bag of Ultimately Fun Genre Elements
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In director Gavin O'Connor's (Warrior) latest film, The Accountant, the films titular character and our protagonist is one that operates on the high end of the autism spectrum. The character is a math savant who has utilized his high-functioning skills to cook the books for several high-profile criminal clients that would seemingly stack the character's pockets, but may also serve as a threat to Christian Wolff and his legitimate, small-town CPA office. It's a heck of a way to set-up intrigue around a character while simultaneously bringing attention to those who function a little different from what society considers to be the norm especially when the film makes such a character as much a superhero as they do here. As Wolff, Ben Affleck is not only a genius when it comes to numbers though, but he's been nurtured into something of a killing machine by his militaristic father (Robert C. Treveiler). The film then combines these elements of Wolff's personality while mixing in a U.S. Treasury investigation led by the soon to retire Ray King (J.K. Simmons) and his forced apprentice of sorts in Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) that leads Wolff to take on something of a legitimate client in a major robotics company run by John Lithgow. This plotline also introduces us to the obligatory love interest in Anna Kendrick's Dana, but mostly The Accountant is about Affleck kicking butt and counting numbers with the amount of plot Bill Dubuque's (The Judge) screenplay attempts to pile on only serving to take away from the more interesting character study that's trying to peek out from behind all the storylines. And while the film does indeed suffer from something of an identity crisis while at the same time playing into the fact it knows fully what it is by embracing the inherent goofiness of an assassin accountant it never stops being entertaining. Even as the plot jumps from Wolff's main mission to that of the Treasury investigation, and onto the third party tracker embodied by the always charismatic Jon Bernthal and back to Wolff there is always something to keep us invested even if what is doing so feels scattershot. This would typically be a detriment to a film given it signals a lack of trust in the lead characters ability to sustain audience engagement, but under O'Connor's steady hand The Accountant makes one feel just satisfied enough by the time they're done consuming it without actually offering anything of nutritional value.

Great all around movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before watching this movie my biggest worry was the main character. Though I am not the biggest Ben Affleck fan, I thought he did a good job in this role. The movie's best attribute is the story. It is very thought out and has several layers as they tell the backstory. It has good action throughout and a hint of a romantic side to between Ben's character and Anna Kendrick's. So to sum up I would say it is a great all around movie that has something for everyone. Definitely recommend to watch it.

Smart Action film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really loved the use of flashbacks that explained the title character. They added depth and significant understanding to how the Accountant got his unique skill set. There are several plot twists that took two or three viewings to fully appreciate - a characteristic of good films in my estimation. Of course, one has to suspend belief in reality as bullets continually miss the Accountant ant get everyone else. But that's part of the fun of action films. Enjoy the ride!

Unique Story which made for a Great Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoyed this movie! The story was written very well, and the action scenes were enjoyable for sure. They also brought light to the issue of autism and how it affects people differently, not just the person who has it, but the family as a whole is affected. I liked the fact that they emphasized that they need special care, and they are capable of living a normal life if given the proper help. Great way to bring the issue into discussion.

The real message
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great movie in many ways. It has the action needed to keep it going, and the drama to keep it relevant. Though the story line is about a person trying to do good in the world and, sometimes, requiring to do bad, the actual underlying plot is the real focus of the movie. Can so many people now experiencing developmental problems in the world get through life and be productive people? You bet!! Will their problems go away? Probably not. Does that matter? Most often NO!
