Amazing Spider-Man 2 has so much potential. However, I think it lacked in a few areas that could have made it an awesome movie. For me it isn't the worst Spider-man film out there, but it lacked from the first outing (Amazing Spider-man, which is probably my favorite of the franchise). I think they fell into the same hole that they did with the previous trilogy. They tried too incorporate too much into one film when they could have slowed down and made it better without some of the stuff. They tried to introduce too many characters in hopes of using them down the road, but sadly it fell short. I believe they could have trimmed down the second villain and just kind of introduce him and utilize him for the next outing. However, they pushed him in and tried to make a mini arc for him and it fell a little flat. The ending was somewhat fitting coming from a comic fan point of view. The major even that unfolds closely resembles that of the same event in the comics. I thought it was a decent movie. It didn't wow me, but I did enjoy my time and didn't feel like it sucked the time out of my day. I would recommend Amazing Spider-man 2.

The Amazing Spiderman, a reboot of sorts that came just 5 years after the original trilogy wrapped up with Tobey Maguire's excellent interpretation of spiderman, we got a more sensitive, taller and better spiderman but in the middle of everything, they put him in a overly dramatic and twisted story that ran too long for it's own good. Alas, 2 years later we get a second movie that ups the game in every way. Unfortunately that is it's biggest problem. Clocking at 2:21 hours, this second Spiderman throws everything at us including bits by not one, not two but at least 3 villains that have little time for us be invested in them. I challenge anyone to give me Electro's or Rhino's last names. This movie is shot beautifully and many camera angles, shots and 3D use seem very fresh and original but the Drama in this story goes for way too long. As Sony tries to sort of copy Marvels' inventive way of connecting separate movie universes, they went so far into making sure we figure what's to come next that they failed in creating a compelling, tight, cohesive and complete second story.

Ok here's the deal. Jaime Fox was outstanding as Electro and the actor who played Harry Osborne was great too, although I didn't really enjoy him as the Goblin but maybe because he was only in the film for a few minutes. Paul Giamatti as Rhino was a total waste plain and simple and that's a shame because he's a great actor. Why did I give this movie 4 stars? Because as I mentioned, Jamie Fox, and also Andrew Garfield who again played a humorous and witty yet very tormented Peter/Spider-Man. Chris Cooper as Norman Osborne was also great in his role. I don't want to spoil the plot too much but while watching the film I found the chemistry between Emma Stone and Garfield to be a bit cheesy but hey that's teen love. It wasn't until the end of the film though that I could appreciate that cheesiness and that's all I'm going to say. Again, 4 stars for Fox, Garfield, and great action/fx and 3D. Sally Field also gets an honorable mention, especially for the laundry scene. Definitely make this film one of your next screenings.

When Best Buy came to me for a review of this movie...I saw the lightning flash. I heard the thunder roll! I felt breakers crashing, swamping my soul! I fell down on my knees...and I cried "My God, why has thou forsaken me?" And the Lord said "Big E, you're no good." No...I mean this more than you realize..."...You're no earthly good at all unless you take this opportunity and do whatever you have to...to convince people that 'The Amazing Spider Man 2' is a wonderful blend of cinematic wonder and awe, complete with witty banter, eye-popping special effects, and a captivating storyline that saves the movie from Jamie Foxx's mailed-in portrayal of "Max/Electro.'" And He didn't say, "Big E, be polite". He said, "Do whatever you have to to transform and transmogrify your "Amazing Spider Man 2" Blu-Ray viewing experience into a special review...where the hearts and souls and minds of those who have not yet seen the movie can rise. Where they can grow tall and blossom out from under the shadows of not yet having seen the movie...where the minds of the as-of-yet inexperienced are set free. And I gave...my word to God...and that's why I wrote this here review....and that's all I'm gonna say!

An improvement over the Amazing Spiderman but it still falls short of the Tobey Maguire Spiderman movies. There is a subplot regarding Peter's parents but Garfield's Peter Parker is not a character I care about. He comes off as smooth and confident and that is just not the correct characterization of Peter Parker. He puts on a good show once he dons the tights though and has a wit and physicality about him that works well. His confidence and humor works well at these times. Although he always seems to take off his mask. Secret identity, man. Too many villains and too much of the back story is changed from the previous Spiderman franchise (which is still fresh in memory as they came out between 2002-2007) or any comic/cartoon history. Still, it is Spiderman so it's not all bad and Electro (and only Electro) made a worthwhile character and villain through the first two thirds of the movie. I would still recommend the original Spiderman 1 &2 to give someone an education about the Spiderman mythos over ASM2.

Even though I like the marvel rendition of Spiderman, I like the action in this one more.

I was really disappointed with Paul's Rhino, he did not seem to fit in line with the tone of the movie. It was cartoonish acting and the voice even seemed like it was dubbed not like it was in with the rest of the movie. Very very odd. I think it was a nice mix of action and comedy, as I have come to expect from comic book movies. I was disappointed with the blue skin of Electro but not completely surprised since it was leaked well before it's release, but I had hoped it wouldn't be that bad when the movie came out to the public...that it would have been fixed and maybe was a temporary thing. Overall the story felt true but a little rushed past the important story points and a lot of time spent on things that were pointless. This is all my opinion but that's why it's My Review. It's worth a watch to action or comic fans. I think ultimately they bit off a huge chuck of story and it was imbalanced and felt rushed to completion once it got to the good stuff.

This Spider-Man is excellent! Great effects and a must have for my collection!

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continues the story of Peter Parker who became the web slinging hero after being bitten by a genetically altered spider. In this chapter Peter is graduating high school and battling not just an old friend, but an electrically altered mad man. Peter has lots of turmoil in this story. He keeps having flash backs of a promise he broke and his life seems more chaotic at every turn. Part two is not as good as the first one, but still a good effort. I really like Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. To me he captures the essence from the comics that Tobey Maguire could not. Spider-Man 2 is a great bridge setting up even more epic films to come. If you are a comic book fan or fans of the first you will love this. This film comes highly recommended. The story and the acting were spot on. The direction was extremely good. I also enjoyed the 3D effects more than I thought I would. I give the film four out of five stars.

REALLY GOOD MOVIE, BUT THATS BECAUSE IM A BIG SPIDER-MAN FAN. BUT YOU NEED TO WATCH.

You don't need to have ever read a Spiderman comic but it adds to the appreciation of the movie. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone totally lite up the screen being able to draw from real life romance and bring it into this film. >>>Spoilers after this point<<< The angst that Peter Parker about not being able to keep his promise to Capt. Stacy comes to a dreadful climax but there just weren't enough scenes with Emma so when the death scene came it would have more watcher emotional affect than just the devastating loss to Peter. I wish they had brought in the older Green Goblin so we could have Emma Stone for just one more film but at least we can look forward to the new actress playing Maryjane Watson whom I think Dr. Who's Amy Pond played by Karen Gillan would be perfect. The fight scenes with Jamie Foxx as Electro are just fantastic but Paul Giamatti as Rhino was just a waste of CG. The new Green Goblin was a nice twist but it could have been cooler with the more dangerous and vicious Hob Goblin. A fantastic film for the Spidey fan and can't wait for the next installment of the Amazing Spiderman 3!!!

Not the best in the series, but still pretty good.

This film won’t win an Oscar but it will scratch one particular itch: more spider-man. Why not continue the story with more web-slinging? Best Buy has this film for low prices with blue ray and digital formats combined - the best way to purchase any film.

I would totally recommend this awesome movie to all family and friends.
