Here comes pt 2 of reboot!

pt 2 of Spiderman series reboot, just 5 years after Spiderman 3 was released. A little too early if you ask me, but these days, some studios are all about the money.
That being said, movie is still very fun, lots to look at, and really puts your home theater through a workout. Picture and sound quality are top notch, and you'll be amazed by what you see and hear. Plot is obviously very close to original series but this time featuring the new reboot characters, and an obvious introduction to some new villains. Our kids very much like the "Amazing" versions of the films, but I find that I remember too much about original Spiderman 1-3 to catch on quickly to the new characters rather than the first group.
Still a good purchase, and worth having in your collections. RECOMMENDED PURCHASE.

From my families standpoint we were able to watch and enjoy the movie as a family; it was fun and as appropriate as a movie gets these days. From my co-workers standpoint he found himself fast forwarding through the "Twilight" like non-action scenes. My 9 year old son has watched the movie on two additional occasions and has yet to mention any issue with the romance scenes (as there is plenty of action in between). Sure it isn't an Avenger's movie but it was fun, action packed, with great special effects. My wife actually enjoyed this movie more than the latest Captain America movie due to the good balance of action/romance. My son and I on the other hand liked the latest Captain America movie more. Still I give this a four star rating for this movie from a family standpoint.

I love Spider-Man BUT the Andrew Garfield movies are not as good as Spider-Man 1-3 with Toby Maguire. That's my opinion. That being said this is overall a pretty good movie. I don't like Electro in this movie, mainly because they just ripped off Batman Forever's Riddle villian (played by Jim Carrey) & cut & paste him into this movie as Electro (played by Jamie Foxx). I like the Harry Osborne character but when he becomes Green Goblin it's just STUPID. Overall a good movie & worth picking up for the deleted scenes! There is an especially top secret scene that was deleted, that if left in the film would have blown every true Spider-Fan's mind!! It would have changed the fiction of the comics & the 3rd movie & I really wish they would have left it in! :D

It's difficult to bring an icon like Spider-man out of the comic books and onto the big screen. I think the first series failed. This reboot is heading in the right direction. The character development is better and I'm feeling more sympathetic toward Peter Parker which is an important part of Spidey's popularity. My reservation with this movie is that it is a set up of things to come, a middle movie or part II of a series that doesn't have enough of a conclusion to to the story to stand alone. But I think this series is heading in the right direction. I hope they don't fall into the old problem of brining in too many villains at once without providing a descent plot (all action and no story) or without giving the villains any character development.

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp. (c) Columbia

The Amazing Spiderman 2 is an entertaining and enjoyable super hero movie, especially for Spidey fans. It is however not as good as the Marvel studios productions such as the Avengers or the Guardians of the Galaxy due to an average plot and mediocre villains (ie Rhino). Furthermore, the special features are nothing to write home about with deleted scenes and director's comments. The latter actually refer to alternate endings that I did not find on the disc.
Overall, it is a good Spiderman movie (way better than the infamous spiderman 3) but it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi to make it great.

This latest Spiderman installment is definitely entertaining and full of the same old Spidey action you've come to expect. The only thing hampering this movie is it doesn't know when to end. It's drawn out a little too long in a clear effort to setup the next movie which looks to focus on the Sinister 6. The film looks great and has been mastered in 4K for maximum picture and expanded color. This however, is only for the 2D version of the film, not the 3D. The audio is coded in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio which is nice but would've been better in 7.1. It comes with a nice selection of extras which include behind-the-scenes commentary, deleted scenes, a music video and more. Overall, this is a great film to add to your super hero collection.

A lot of the negative comments about this movie are complaints that it's not like the comics or how it compares to Raimi's Spiderman movies, which is wholly unjustified. This is a movie, why should they be beholden to the structures or constraints of other media so long as they create something genuine. The Amazing Spider-man 2 is an ambitious movie; it's not perfect but since when is "not perfect" a suitable judgment for anything. The movie introduces new views on old characters, new characters with believable issues and has a lot of fun just being itself. If you want to be mired with nostalgia then don't watch this, but if you want to see something that does it's best and succeeds most of the time, check out Amazing Spider-man 2.

This movie absolutely nailed Spiderman's dialog in a way that none of the other movies have even come close to. He makes wisecracks, taunts the villains, and is a joy to watch. But then we get villains who seem to be pulled directly from a mid-90s Batman movie (and not one of the good ones). Max / Electro is basically a bad rip-off of the Jim Carrey Riddler, and the Green Goblin is so over the top dark that it's like he was pulled from some other movie. The blu-ray itself is beautiful. Great visuals, great special features, and awesome sound. It's just too bad that the movie itself wasn't better. Here's hoping that Sony can turn the ship in time for their Sinister Six follow-up (which this was such an obvious setup for).

I really like the new Spider-Man cycle even though I am still adjusting to the new Peter Parker. He's good, but oh my that hair. And I also like the new story line involving his father's role at Oscorp, although it's a bit too tidy with ALL of the bad guys coming from Oscorp. And my main concern is that, like the 3rd part in the earlier cycle, the story tries to touch too many villain bases in particular, which leaves the depth of the characters and the story a bit thin. In short, very entertaining but I would prefer focusing on fewer villains - either plan on a 4th movie in this cycle to work them in, or save some of them for a deeper take on them in the next cycle (because there will be one, of course).

An enjoyable film, though certainly not without flaws. Like older sequels bearing the Spiderman brand, I personally felt there was far too much squeezed into far too little time. Multiple side-plots, with insufficient focus to make any one stand out. Additionally, I found the acting was somewhat hammy at times, especially so for Dane DeHaan's Harry Osborne, whose extremely truncated fall from grace was difficult to buy into.
Nitpicking aside, overall I would call it a very good, (though not great) clean time-waster flick with some fun action scenes and a healthy dose of humor. Definitely worth watching, but consider giving it a rent before adding to your permanent collection.

I got the first Amazing Spider-Man on DVD when it came out back in 2012, and it was all right. That resulted in me not having high hopes for the second one and I didn't bother to watch up until a few months ago. The on-screen chemistry between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield improved greatly. The writing and special effects also improved compared to the first. I loved the film adaption of Electro, but didn't care for this version of the Green Goblin. I truly believe that he is an overused villain, as he was used twice in the original trilogy. This truly is one of the better Spider-Man movies that has been made so far.

Loved the movie as expected. I'm fan of all comic book to big screen movies. Some are better than others and some totally fail. This is one of the great ones. In fact, I think I like it better than its prequel.
I liked learning more about the origin of Peter's abilities, his father's connections to Oscorp and the Oswalds, and the setup as Oscorp being the sources of some of the bad guys Spider-Man encounters. I also liked the deleted scenes and extras. Particularly the "The Wages of Heroism: The Making of Spider-Man 2."
I was not so happy that I had to look really hard to identify which disc to play. The 3D disc was easy to identify but the other two not so much. The DVD and Blu-ray symbols or mixed in with the trademarks and movie rating at the bottom halk of the discs.

While many are berating this as the worst of the 5 spiderman movies, I can't wholeheartedly agree. Yes it was probably the worst written having Peter and Gwen act like goofy preteens instead of college bound, and too little humanization of harry Osborne. On the other Hand the introduction and execution of electro gave him an appearance closer to that of the biggest baddies in the Spiderman universe rather than the relatively minor villan he's portrayed as in the comics. He felt more like an electric but manipulatable paranoid obsessive version of crazy that can only be surpassed in the comics by the pre anti-hero venom and completely sociopathic Carnage.

I'm not giving this five stars because it had too many things going on; but by far, better than the other version of Spiderman. Too many new people to introduce and follow, so it became a bit of a mess. I do love the moments between Peter and Gwen (I love Emma Stone) but this is a Spiderman film... I wanted to see more Spiderman moments with the villains. I also would have rather them introduce the Sinister Six towards the end or in future films not just put them all into one film. It was nice to see Electro and Green Goblin and Rhino but I just wish they handled the villains better... if they did this this could have been a great Marvel film.

This was an easy buy to be honest, I missed this one in the theaters and couldn't wait until it was released this past week. Further helping with this purchase was the awesome case that it came in, it is pretty cool being magnetized somehow without erasing the content?? The discs are easily removed and they go back in just as easily. This one also came with a small comic book that is a nice add-on for us comic nuts.
The movie itself features a unique spin on a number of Spider-Man villains and I really like where they went with each one although I am a purist at heart, I also have an open mind and the usual stuff has already been done. I really like Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy, both highlights here.
This is recommended for all ages, everyone will enjoy.

If you are not a contemporary comic book reader, and have not had anyone tell you, there is a 10 minute or so unexpected plot twist that did not sit well with me, towards the end of the movie. And I recall friends that saw it in the theater telling me they didn't like "the movie," but did not tell me why. I in fact didn't see it in the theater as a result and waited for the DVD. Suffice it to say this is a spectacular piece of work from all angles except that 10 minutes. I thought about the bravery to write the script to flow as it did, and my conclusion is that I witnessed a very very brave plot choice, that stunned me, that actually DID accomplish what it set out to do. So well, invest in the disc. You will want to own this one.

I bought the first Amazing spider-man as a stocking stuffer for a son. That movie was okay and had both good moments and bad...obviously a reboot for a bigger movie. The sequel is much better with better chemistry between the lead actors and a nice performance from the villains. The visual effects were much better and a treat to see on an HDTV. Sound effects and LFE were good in many sequences and should play well on a good audio system. As usual from Hollywood, this is another set up for more movies but with the added improvement over the first one, the subsequent sequels will be entertaining and fun to watch.
