At last Universal has released a non-animated catalog title on UHD Blu-ray that is truly a leap in the right direction. Even the Oscar winning DP, Roger Deakins, who worked on The Big Lebowski, stated this 4k transfer from the OCN is much closer to the intended look of the film. There is a substantial uptick in detail and color stability with no apparent overuse of digital noise reduction and grain "management" and is far better than the prior abominable Blu-ray. Is it a totally perfect restoration? Probably not, but outside of a 4k showcase run at a premiere theater supervised by the Coen Brothers themselves, this is the best TBL has ever looked on consumer media. Come party with the Dude in 4k! It's far out, man!

This is a good 4K transfer of a very quirky comedy which I really enjoy. The 4K picture is good but not awesome as befitting this movie.

Jeff bridges is at it again as the loveable dude awesome

I owned the anniversary edition that came in the shape of a bowling ball, and its nice to have as a novelty item, but if I just want to watch the movie, I'd rather have this simple steelbook version to pop open and get the disc. It comes with a DVD copy of the movie as well. Oddly enough there is a piece of plastic that overlaps the second disc so you have to push the middle to pop the disc free, and then carefully lift it upwards to slide it out from that piece of plastic that overlaps it. No big deal, and how many times are you going to use the DVD copy to begin with?

I got this when it was on sale like at 7.99 wish I waited cause now its on 4.99 its a decent steelbook if your a collector.

The Big Lebowski finally has a release that looks like a movie. I've seen this film in every iteration since catching it at a second run theater in 1998, and it's always been a bummer to see Joel and Ethan Coen's stoner classic look waxy and digital on DVD and Blu-Ray. For once, the 4k disc looks like something shot on film without smoothed over faces and sharp edges. And on the off chance that's still what you want, the included Blu-Ray is the same old disc, so best of both worlds? I'll take the UHD - it really ties the room together.

I'm so awesome and this movie is so awesome, that I bought this DVD twice! Well, I actually forgot I bought it the first time, so now I'm going to gift the other copy to someone else. It doesn't matter anyway. You can't buy this movie enough because it is that good. It is another one of those movies that when someone walks into your place and sees that you own it, if they ever get angry with you over anything for the rest of your life, they remember back to the moment they realized you own this movie. You are forever more worth being friends with, no matter what happens.

The Big Lebowski somehow became a household "word" within a few years of its release. How? Why? Who cares, man? A comedy of the ridiculous, as only the Coen Brothers can do, replete with its own set of neo-icons of idiocy & democracy deserves everything it is: one of the best modern comedies. Period. The steelbook edition includes killer new bowling artwork, all the extras from the deluxe editions past AND a digital HD copy via Ultraviolet/iTunes. Universal has stepped up their game & do not appear to be relenting with their recent wave of catalogue reissues. And this, my friends & dudes, is a prime example.

If you’re anything like me, after the first viewing you’ll be wondering what you just watched. Nothing will make sense and yet you’ll still be left wondering what everyone is talking about. On the second viewing, everything will make sense. The very basic story will be in your face and you’ll wonder how you didn’t see it. You’ll realize how funny it is and finally get it. This is a movie for any time, any mood. I can’t recommend this enough to those that have not seen it. John Goodman a stand out in a film full of stand out performances.

So many memorable quotes. A Coen bro’s. Best outing in my opinion. I think I have watched this movie close to 20 times. Movies like this are few and far between. The bowling alley interactions with all of the colorful characters is absolute solid gold. I’m not sure how much I would respect someone who saw this and didn’t like it. I know, not a selling point but the fact remains, if you don’t love this movie, you’re out of your element.

Watched it for the first time and it is a little different buy enjoyable to watch.

This movie isn't for everyone, and wasn't a success during its theatrical run. It's since become one of the biggest cult comedy classics of all time. Jeff Bridges is perfectly cast as The Dude, and there are strong supporting performances throughout, particularly by John Goodman and Steve Buscemi. Highly recommended if you like offbeat comedy. The picture and sound are both great, and there are a pretty thorough set of extras to give you more insight into the film. The only thing missing is a director's commentary, but the Coen brothers don't do those.

Looked better than I thought on Blu-Ray a must own for any collection!

On one hand, it has many layers, but on the other hand, it's just about a dude who wants his rug back. It’s essential. It’s enormously entertaining. A great cast that performs with the upmost level of hilarity. The whole film is insanely quotable and only gets better with re-watches, re-watches that will have you noticing new things you never noticed before regardless of how many times you’ve seen the film before. And in 4K, it’s the print this film deserves.

Big fan of John Goodman and awesome cast in this movie grate one liners

The 4K transfer for this movie is incredible. The Blu-ray was quite frankly one of the worst transfer of a movie ever. Almost as bad as the Blu-ray for Predator. Thankfully they really gave The Big Lebowski the ultimate 4K treatment. The attention to detail is so awesome. You can see every little thing on The Dude's sweater. You won't feel like you wasted money with this transfer. The Dude Abides

This is one you will want for your collection. A u inquest plot.

Let's be honest, the DTS:X, while excellent, is not needed on such a dialogue heavy film. It's not like there are special audio effects where you really get to hear things happening overhead or behind you. The 4K picture is gorgeous and a noticeable improvement over the standard Blu-Ray. The Big Lebowski is a quirky and off-beat movie. If you like those types of movies, you'll find this to be a hilarious joy ride.

The dude is the perfect hippie love how everything is done for a new rug
