There is a lesson to learn and the movie does it .

This movie was ok overall, my daughter wasn't too thrill after it was over. It's not a movie where she'll watch it over and over. Got a great deal on the blu ray combo that's why I bought it. Glad I waited to watch on DVD instead of seeing it at the theater.

I should have researched this movie better before buying. I could not get past the first 5 minutes of it. The movie quality is great and the DVD arrived in excellent condition. I'm just not into this storyline very much.

We love this movie and were looking for it on dvd, I bought it and it only comes in a wide screen! WTH is up with all movies now only coming in widescreen. Its frustrating for children with small play room tvs!

This was purchased for my kids, but it’s watchable for adults. I find the art direction of this film to be pretty cool. If you can get it for $10 or less. You and your family will enjoy it.

"The Book of Life" is one of the most visually arresting animated films in some time, but unfortunately the story and script don't measure up. The story is hard-to-follow and unengaging (children will most likely be confused or just bored), and the script struggles to bring the characters to life with personality and genuine humor. The Latin American literary genre of Magic Realism is very hard to translate into film ("Like Water for Chocolate" is one of the few that succeeded, and brilliantly at that), but it would seem that animation would be the ideal format for doing so. "The Book of Life" sadly misses the mark.

This flick was cute, but I was expecting a little more. I loved the wonderful colors and kid friendly story, but there was something missing. Overall, I think it's worth watching at least once to judge for yourself.

I bought this movie because of a sale and it's animated, I usually like those. I can't even remember if I finished this one, I was quite bored. Even my kid was not too concentrated on this movie while it played.

I watched the movie a few times with my 5 year old daughter. Personally, I think there are better kids movies out there, but my daughter really liked the movie and has watched it several times.

The story was cute and did have enjoyable bits, but I found the art and the use of current pop songs to be offputting. I won't be watching it again and would return it if I could.

The subject matter was a little mature and kind of advanced for a 3/4 year old. He didn't engage with this one as much either. May be good for older.

The co-opting of Mexican lore provides a sturdy spine for the super-saturated animation. Though the plot is ultimately predictable, the movie does entertain the kiddos.

Okay. It's entertaining, but not as good as Toy Story, Monster Inc., or Frozen. It's not even in the same league, really. Nonetheless, still enjoyable to watch.

I purchased this movie due to the positive reviews I read but in my opinion, it was not that great. the story is very predictable, happy ending, and all that.

It's a good movie for older kids and adults. My toddler wanted the movie but she got bored after watching the first 20 or 25 minutes.

My daughter and her friend loved it but I was disappointed. Not one of the better animated movies of the year but still worth watching.

Beautiful looking film. Sadly it has a cliche story and a stereotypical use of Hispanic culture in its representation.

This film has some amazing animation, and depicts a range of musical samples, along with cultural influences. A must see film!

A good movie but slow at times. Probably better suited for older kids, 6 or 7, rather than early viewers under that age.
