I take my kids to see a LOT of movies at our local 2nd-run movie theater. In other words, the flick is at the "cheap" theater where tickets are only $2.50 and the screens are smaller than the big multiplex that show the movies on release day. (And with popcorn/sodas/tickets combined, 5 people can see a movie for under $30) This was one of those "Nothing else is playing, so I guess we'll just go see this" films. How surprised I was to find Book of Life to be an extremely entertaining and well-done film. I went in figuring it was just a way to kill a few hours on a weekend afternoon but left thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend the film for families that want an enjoyable movie to watch together.

Admittedly going sitting down to see the film for the first time I did not expect much. By golly, I was most pleasantly surprised. The film is visually beyond beautiful. The style and genre reflect the latin culture of "Dia De Los Muertos" vividly. The colors, effects and visual directions are wonderfully magical. Add on top of this the fantastic story and artful music selection (almost entirely done through musical sequences) and you have a timeless and outstanding tale.

with animation pretty much looking all the same these days it was a pleasure to see something that was visually stunning and well done at the same time. It told the story of the Day of the Dead but more importantly of the remembrance in such a way the children and adults both can enjoy this movie and really get something out of it

There's a lot of great choices for feature animation these days, but The Book of Life stands out for a few reasons. The first is the character designs. Although CGI, the characters are crafted to look like wooden puppets, and the animators succeed completely in making their movements fluid while still maintaining that unique wooden texture and structure. The other reason is the story. The Book of Life is about, well... death. What it means when loved ones die, where they go, and how we carry on honoring their memories while living our own lives. It's a beautiful message that is enacted extremely well. And while the emphasis on death can be maudlin at times, the movie as a whole is very hopeful and upbeat. If you've missed seeing this movie before, don't wait any longer.

I didn't go see this movie when it first came out, but my daughter did. She was really wanting to get the DVD, and since I had set up a home theatre with Blu-ray player, we bought the Blu-ray version and watched it. WOW, the animation and colors in the movie were amazing! My guess is the Blu-ray really adds visual appeal to make the colors stunning. Neat story line too.

This was a blind buy. I had seen the previews on TV. I had a coupon and figured I would try it. I'm so happy I made the purchase. This movie is absolutely wonderful. The themes in the movie have really good morals and values. The story is excellent and very entertaining. The color and art is so beautifully done, especially in 3D.

Living in Arizona, we are very familiar with the "Day of the Dead" stories. This was a very good telling of this tale and the 3D effects in this film are amazing. Though the whole concept of the "Day of the Dead" may be a little hard for very young viewers, the colorful characters and humor will not be lost on anyone.

Me and the family absolutely fell in love with this movie! A very original movie with a great story and a movie that we have watched more than 5 times. The singing isn't over done and the animation was unique. This is a movie I would recommend to any age. This movie is perfect.

Great movie not just animation movie with a great cast . Best buy had it on special but as has become the norm now.. They listed online the item as being in stock in store and having employees tell me so as well.. non were to be found. My purchase had to be made at WalMart.

My 5 year old daughter loves the movie and I have to admit that I liked it too. The animation was creative and fresh. The story was interesting and held our attention. And any movie that drops an acoustic version of Radiohead's Creep gets 2 thumbs up from me.

My daughter absolutely loves this movie. We rented it from Redbox and then she begged to have it. We rented it so much, I finally just bought it. It is a really cute movie. The songs get stuck in my head.

Between the animation, the characters, and the overall story, it is impossible not to be enthralled by The Book of Life. Very likely the best non Pixar animated film in the last 10 years.

This blue ray package is great. Also, this story is fantastic, the music makes the movie and I'm willing to say this is one of the best animated movies to come out in years.

I really wasn't thinking I'd like it much, but my kids and I loved it! So funny, it was so colorful, entertaining, cute character and has great morals. Loved the music too! There were a few really weird looking characters but overall I'd say go for it, you won't regret it!

Didn't think I'd like it, but kids really wanted it. We all really like it and I'm listening to the soundtrack over and over now because I love the music!

I went to see it in theaters and loved it, and then it went on sale and so I got it for a super great deal and am very happy with my purchase.

Great heartwarming story lovable characters and the graphics are amazing. It's a great movie even after he 20th time watching it.

This a great movie for all ages, bought for the kids and they love it!! I catch myself stuck watching it a lot and not bad thing.
