Not one of Tom hanks best But still worth a watch

Perfect 80's comedy with Tom Hanks at his finest!!

its not the best movie for either tom hanks or joe dante. but it has a very good cast and seem to grow on me every time I view it. maybe it was the blue ray presentation this time. and for less than ten dollars you cant really go wrong

Nice comedy with clean humor. Tom hanks is a versatile actor with a great range. Movie is satisfyingly funny and entertaining.

Love the movie and nice to have on blu-ray, but this is a very barebones release which does leave a lot to be desired.

Rejoice! Rejoice! I've been waiting for a Region 1 Blu-ray release of this for a very long time, and did not want to order any of the Region 2 options available on Amazon. I'm not going to review the movie because it's 27 years old and you should've seen it and fallen in love with it by now. I will only tell you what the disc contains, since there's no information listed on the store page: in addition to the movie, you get an alternate ending and the teaser trailer, both of which can be found on Youtube already. So if you were hoping that the first U.S. Blu-ray release of this masterpiece would feature some decent extras, then hope no more, and let's just be grateful that we finally get any release at all. The picture and sound quality are what you'd expect from a film from 3 decades ago; this is not a remaster or anything like that. But it's The freakin' 'Burbs, and you need it, right now. Additional info Video: 1080p High-Definition Widescreen 1.85:1. Chapter selection: 1-18. Audio options: English 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio and Francais 2.0 DTS Digital Surround. Subtitle options: English SDH (Subtitled for the Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing). Case: Standard Blu-ray case (no recycle logo cut-outs or goofy side latches to contend with. Verdict For $9.99 I'm happy to add The 'Burbs to my BR collection at long last, even if it is just a bare-bones release. Cheers.

This is (in my opinion) Tom Hanks Best comedy. It is also one of the best comedies to come out of the 80s. Non stop laughter ensues. It has a truly wonderful cast and is very entertaining 30 years after it was released in theaters. The movie itself deserves 5 stars, but I'm docking it 1 star for the Blu Ray transfer. This is the best the film has ever looked, but I would not say the transfer is "amazing".

As far as the movie goes its incredible. For some reason this one never was a big hit but do yourself a favor and check this one out. The comedy is light and the story carries you through the entire film. The soundtrack is another hidden gem, one of my favorite soundtracks in a movie. Even after all the years I still repeat tons of lines from the movie! I have shown this to my 8 year old son and he absolutely loves it. As for the quality of the blu ray, its pretty sub standard. Its a generic release as it gets, but that shouldn't stop you from picking this up. This is the first time it's been on blu ray and is a major improvement over the dvd. There is an import that came out last year but it requires a region B player. I have never posted a review so that shows you how much I just wanted to share this movie with others. ENJOY!

I have always enjoyed this film. Certainly not the best comedy ever made. Tom several years before his 2 Oscars & years after Bosom Buddies. Something I enjoy in films is when there is at least one scene you can play multiple times. To me this film has 3 1. When Bruce Dern’s character Mark falls off his roof & shoots out the window in his car 2. "Pizza Dude!" 3. At the end when the ambulance runs into Art’s house. Do need a new DVD package for this one with some extras. I do not know if they still mention this at Universal Studios Hollywood but they did the film on the back lot & at least used to mention it on the tram ride.

This awkward and bizarre story is not only funny, it also happens to be my personal favorite comedy film. In my opinion, Tom Hanks has never been better than he was in this movie. Hanks fans shouldn't miss this one, but do beware that it will only reach a select type of viewer. The anamorphic widescreen presentation is pretty good and there are some decent bonus features including a fun alternate ending.

Tom Hanks in a horror/comedy? Yes, please! This is one of the only, if not the only film of this type that Hanks did. This is the first time its been given the Blu treatment, and it's a limited edition, so get it in a hurry while you still can.

This is one of my all-time favorite movie and thank god it's finally on blu-ray. Though we don't get the full-on special edition the Brits get. Those lucky jerks, haha! It's definitely a must own for those looking to retire their DVDs.
