This movie has a lot of great puppet effect and great world.

The booklet style case is really cool, but the gluing of the pages was not even and glue got all over some of the pages and they were stuck together. After separating the pages the book looks OK, but the binding isn’t even, I wish they had taken more time to do it properly.

A classic movie from my childhood in a modern format.

Picked this one up on sale so had to add it to my collection

I have always loved this movie ever since my childhood so I had to buy it when it was announced on 4K. As expected the original film print is quite old now and this is not a marvel movie that was shot digitally, so you will see the film grain and some higher contrast in some of the scenes. The higher clarity will make some of the effects of the time more apparent that were thought to look hidden back then under a lower resolution. In other words you might notice some of the puppets strings that you may not have noticed before in a SD copy. That being said I don't think this movie has ever looked better. Highly recommend this classic.

This UHD disc is a subtle improvement over the included Blu-ray visually and it adds Dolby Atmos sound. It is packed with bonus features and is well worth purchasing. I watched this and then watched the prequel series on Netflix and was in awe of the puppetry work that went into both.

Glad I grew up in the 80s and got to experience films like this as a kid. Now that I'm older I still enjoy these movies. I hate the CGI of today's films and I really appreciate the practical effects used back then. A great story with amazing design and costumes. Pick up the Anniversary Edition instead of the basic blu-ray, as this one comes in really nice packaging and definitely worth the few extra bucks.

The Dark Crystal is one of the first puppet movies I remember. A whole lot of work went into this movie and it shows (no CGI here folks). The storyline is interesting and even though puppets are the characters you are drawn in and don't think about it. Although it might not be as "showy" as movies nowadays I think it still can stand up against them. Really young kids might be frightened with some parts. but the whole family should be watching The Dark Crystal together.

Love this movie and in 4k steelbook Just ordered the New 35th Anniversary Edition of The other Jim Hansen Classic The Labyrinth, i havent seen that version here tho its new preorder and i haven't seen it her yet, maybe it has something to do with the fact that theres still 30th anniversary versions available here idk but its doesn't have the art book.

Jim Henson's the Dark Crystal was before my time, but as I revisited this movie in it's 4K glory, I was very impressed. This movie is REAL 4k, and shines on the new format. It's a shame that stop animation and puppetry is not implemented more in today's movies, instead being replaced by the easier to do CGI graphics. There is much to learn in love in old movies like this. You will not be disappointed in buying the much superior 4K movie.

So many fond memories of this film from my childhood. Needed to see this on 4k hdr just see what the hype is about restored old film. Yes there is grain, but in some scenes its not noticeable. Colors stand out more as well as the detail. I think without the grain, some of the special fx would be too obvious. This deserves to be in any money buffs collection. UHD made this movie more of a marvel to watch with the great picture

Bought this because my daughter loves labyrinth. It was ok. Not as good as labyrinth IMO. But the quality for 4k seemed extremely grainy at times. I understand its an older film just kind of disappointed with how much grain at times

"The Dark Crystal" is one of the most imaginative movies of all time, and will rock the world of any child into fantasy movies, while also serving as an impressive film for adults to enjoy as well. This "Anniversary" release of the film looks like a book, and is filled with lovely pictures, worldbuilding images, and background info on the story. For collectors, a very nice shelf decoration.

Dark Crystal 4K is the best version yet!!! Remastered in 4K and Dolby Atmos (5.1/7.1) makes this one a must have to your film collection. Henson’s work and attention to detail is even better with this release. Extras make this a fun one to watch with the whole family (matinee) or as a late night cult classic.

I mostly got the Blu-Ray edition for the digibook that includes awesome behind the scenes information with pictures from the set. Jim Henson was such a creative genius who is likely most known for The Muppets - don't get me wrong I love the Muppets but the Dark Crystal might just be my favorite thing to come from the mind of Jim Henson. Only taking off one star because I wish the digibook would have come with the 4K copy as it's visual quality is better, but for a die hard Dark Crystal fan you'll want the pages of insider info that comes with this version.
