Greatest Classic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can’t go wrong with this film. It’s not only a classic, but, an amazing study on early puppeteering and mechanical affects, orchestrated by the incredible Jim Henson. Every film student should own a copy of this film, especially this anniversary edition with the digital art book. What a treat. A wonderful film for all collectors and film lovers from all over the world. A must buy!

A never boring movie for both children and adults
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are very few movies that are interesting for both children and adults; The Dark Crystal is one of the movies that is. This movie has story line complexity for adults and has the imaginative visuals for children which both groups would enjoy. The movie is never boring even with repeating watching akin to The Never Ending Story.

TIMELESS CLASSIC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We absolutely love this movie, even saw it in theaters recently at a special showing with my kid. Not sure if it was worth buying as a 4K/Blu-ray as the original was grainy and being up scaled to a Blu-ray didn't really do much to enhance the quality of the picture. just glad it's on a DVD as opposed to the Beta/VHS it was released on. A MUST watch for any generation.

The Dark Crystal Revisited
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Back in the 1980s when The Dark Crystal was a new film I had the pleasure of seeing the Jim Henson creations for this film on display in a gallery in Los Angeles. I had already seen the film and enjoyed seeing the Henson shop's work in person. Taking a second look at this film reminded me of that experience as I got to appreciate its artistry all over again.

Awesome Steelbook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an awesome release. The movie is great in my opinion. I may be biased, though, as I’ve been watching it since I was a kid, but it looks its best in 4K! The main appeal in this for me, however, is the absolutely gorgeous Steelbook. The cover art and art inside of the case is amazing and I don’t believe they could have made it even more perfect.

Blu-ray.com review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This release of The Dark Crystal pales, technically, compared to the UHD disc, which offers substantially improved video and Atmos audio. It's a bit better than the aging 2009 release, and it does come bundled in attractive DigiBook packaging. For that, and given the relatively low price, it's a worthwhile add to the collection. Still, the UHD -- which includes this disc -- is the better buy, even for fans who have yet to make the jump to the 4K format. Better to plan ahead and have what is one of the best-looking discs on the market ready to go for day one.

Looks dated when compared to Netflix series
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this after watching the recent Netflix series -- my kids were underwhelmed due to the dated production quality. Only a must-buy for die hard fans of the series.

Great movie now even better
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie has always been a favorite of mine and I’ve passed on that love to my children and now grandchildren. We will still put this movie on at least once every 3 or 4 months and the whole family enjoys it. This 4K upgrade just makes the picture more vivid, the story is awesome on its own!

Great Transfer. Fun Movie
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4K blu rays tend to be hit or miss on quality but The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth 4K releases are solid and worth your time. Great film transfer and audio. Packaging is decent as well.

A Jim Henson Classic!
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A Jim Henson classic from the 1980s remastered on this Anniversary addition Blu Ray. A must have for a Jim Henson Fan, and just an 80s fan of movies. Truly an epic movie with great behind the scenes bonuses. Definitively was well before its time in creativity and production.

Terrific in 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have seen this movie many times (all the way back to laser disc days) and enjoy it. Replacing our old DVD with a 4K version was eye-opening. Colors were unbelievable (never saw them with such a range of nuanced effects), and the picture details were sharp, crisp. The story is a great one, well worth the investment.

Favorite Movie Gets an Upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is quite a bit of detail that you can see now beyond the original blu-ray release (also included). The digital code inside also redeemed in 4K for most streaming services, so that was nice as well. I also love that they used the original poster art for this release, and not some Photoshopped monstrosity.

A nice Fantasy tale brought to life by Jim Henson
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Jen, who was raised by a race called the Mystics, finds out he is the last survivor of his race called the Gelflings. He sets out on a quest to find a shard of the dark crystal. A gem that long ago provided balance to the universe. Gen believes he can restore peace to his world if he can find the shard of the once all powerful gem and repair it. The only thing that stands in his way is the evil Skeksis. Video is very good on this blu-ray release and the animatronics by Jim Henson's Creature Shop are top notch!

Jim Henson would be proud!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful treatment of a exceptional film. This 4K restoration will have made Jim Henson proud. If your a fan get this in 4K. If your a first time viewing be awed by some brilliant and creative film making even if it’s over 30 years old.

Fell asleep in the same part I did as a kid

Classic Henson
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m assuming you’ve seen and loved the movie, so I’ll skip that. The picture quality is easily the best it’s ever been, other than the UHD (but I don’t have a 4K player). The soundtrack is crisp and clear, ambient sounds at to the experience. I’ve heard the Atmos is fantastic, unfortunately, I’m not Atmos ready. Extras are abundant and it comes housed in a digibook full of photos. If you’re a fan, you’ll definitely want to pick this up as it’s easily the best release of the film yet.
