Great movie, but it's not terribly sharp for a 4k release.

its like the labyrinth but a whole lot darker, I loved it.

I watched this as a kid and many times since, it has always been fun letting this movie take me for an adventure in a strange world. This movie has a great story and lots of imagination to share for those willing to let it. This movie is over 30 years old, but could still take someone on a new adventure. It may lack today's CGI and tech yet its still visually beautiful and fun. Keep an open mind and go for it, enjoy another great Jim Henson creation.

This fantasy film, set in a world populated by Muppet-esque characters (created by Muppet masters Jim Henson & Frank Oz) with no human beings anywhere in sight, has elements of both Star Wars & The Lord of the Rings. Jen, the last Gelfling, sets out to restore the title crystal, which as been broken by the vicious Skeksis, who had taken over the land centuries earlier. During his journey, Jen is astonished when he encounters Kira, another Gelfling on the same quest. This movie remains a great achievement, even in this day & age of obvious CGI. Trevor Jones's musical score rivals John Williams's Star Wars music as the finest for a fantasy film

I admit that I had only heard of `The Dark Crystal" because of my husband owning this dvd (which he has now done so for at least over ten years). "The Dark Crystal" is an uncommon film that involves a being named Jen who must simultaneously help to save his world from darkness. He is on a quest to find the crystal shard and must be careful to do it while evading the skekses. Jen ends up getting a little help on his journey when he meets Kira. Obviously, there is much more to this story and "The Dark Crystal" is great for those who enjoy fantasy movies.

When I first saw this movie years ago, I was totally stunned by how amazing this movie was. Taking place on the planet Thra, the crystal cracked and a race once whole was divided into two new races, the Skekis and the Mystics. Now Jen, the last Gelfling, must take the shard of the crystal and make it whole once again. So much detail on each frame, it is truly a wonder to behold. The DVD has improved picture and sound, and some nice documentaries that go behind the scenes and give you some really interesting information. Highly recommended.

Im blown away by the super clean transfer to blu-Ray. Very clean sharp image. Prob one of the nicest blu-Rays I have. Even cleaner than Labyrinth blu-Ray. Seen this movie at theater when I was a kid. Masterpiece. Switch your tv to "Cinema" mode. Will look different at first, but once your eyes adjust in a couple days you'll be glad you did. Looks way more natural and realistic. I watch everything in Cinema mode now.

This movie creeped me out! But I liked it! I do agree -it might be scary for younger viewers, but it has a really interesting story line. Old movies are some of the best movies, I think, because they are not totally digitalized and fake looking. Got to have an open mind... and just go with it.

This movie… is utterly fantastic. I bought it as a gift for my brother, who has always been fond of the dark crystal. Great gift.

Excellent transfer. It was as magical as I remember it from years ago, but with a much clearer picture.

i remember going to the theater with family. Now time for a new generation to watch it. Kids today have no idea what a great movie is.

I never got to see this movie as a child, but now as an adult--- I can understand why so many people love this movie. Love it & the HD quality met my expectations.

It was good, considering how long it has been since it was made.

This is a pretty good movie, probably alittle scary for little children even though its recommended for them.

Super Fantasy Movie. Great for all ages though some caution should be exercised for the very young or those prone to nightmares. Fun!
