Saw this movie in the theater. Some of the scenes were so dark, you couldn't see all of the details. Also much of the dialogue was unclear. No such problems with the 4K disc. The experience was much more enjoyable at home. Audio and video were well done on the disc.

I had never read any of the series of books but got this as a gift for my wife for christmas. We watched it right after the holidays and the story was pretty good. Decent special effects. I guess they will continue making more films in the series which i would enjoy

The Dark Tower is a good movie, a lot of shooting action, the storyline is good and great acting, overall it's a good and fun movie to watch and own.

It had some awesome fight scenes, that I wish they had done more of, but the story felt a little rushed. It seem like they should have taken more time explaining things, instead of rushing from scene to scene. Maybe some things could have been left out, so they could explain other parts that were more important. ...There was a scene where the boy almost got eaten by a house, but you don't understand what it was about, until later. Which distracts you from the story, because you're trying to figure out what you just saw while the movie is still going.

For those that have read the books by Stephen King, you will be extremely disappointed by this film. This film does not follow the story line of the book at all, and it does not utilize the darkness and cruelty that the book's plot has for the world of the Gunslinger or even for the Gunslinger himself. I can say that Idris and Mathew give good performances in their roles, but do not expect anything from them that is in anyway related to the books in the series. The movie is basically a Sci-Fi Western with cool CG gunfights and slow-mo shots following the bullets. My wife really liked this movie, but she is also a sucker for any action movie. This movie is good for a rental or better yet wait till it comes on Netflix.

Stephen King has given us a fantasy tale that works. This movie was a fantastic version of the book and leaves you wanting more. Characters and actors were well chosen and you are left spellbound throughout. The concept of the Black Tower and its importance could have only been imagined by King. And to add the power of children was genius. Thanks

I really looked forward to this movie because the book was so good. As it turns out, it was very decent and the actors are very good, but overall it was slightly disappointed as most movies based on books are. Entertaining enough, though. Rate it 3.5 stars.

Reading the initial reviews I was worried about this movie as I’m a fan of the books. However, this movie is a fantastic take off of the books. It does exactly what the books say the story does - it’s cyclical. This is a new iteration of the same old story.

The film itself is really only, “OK”. The potential to be something special is there, but it just doesn’t click. The novels and comic books provide so much more information. The Blu Ray release is also just “OK”. Featurettes etc., but nothing special.

This was an amazing-looking disc, with a crystal-clear picture and a sense of depth to some of the shots that made it look almost 3D at times. The movie wasn't as bad as I had heard and Matthew McConaughey gives an incredible performance here as the villain.

I enjoyed this - Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey were great . . . but as much as I enjoyed it, I don't know if it would make sense to someone who didn't read the books. I wish they'd make the books into an HBO series, but this was not bad.

Steven King’s books and movies are fantastic tales that keep you guessing. However, like most movies, the book is better. The storyline is good, but the acting could have been much better. There were great senes mixed with ones that felt like the actor preferred to be napping. This particular story will hold its value, and in all stories that weren’t done to King’s standards, will be made again in the future. So if you love Steven King, read the books first because some content is tied to more than one book. I’m a big fan, so I know I will watch the movie many times searching for those little Easter eggs that always pop up and make me smile.

I enjoyed this film but I felt like the film isn’t finished that this should be a trilogy saying that I enjoyed the characters the worlds they created the 4k steelbook is gorgeous

Doesnt follow the Dark Tower books storyline, so if you are expecting the book then you will be disappointed. But it IS Roland, Walter & Jake- just in a different story. And it is pretty well told. Sit back and relax and enjoy it- we did!!!

It's definitely not an epic movie but it's kind of watchable if you ignore the fact that it's trying to adapt a series of novels. I think Matthew McConaughey was just serviceable as the bad guy... Now if Tommy Lee Jones were cast in place of Matthew McConaughey that would be worth at least one more star in my review. The way the bad guy was written needed an actor who could deliver petty self serving snarkiness and McConaughey isn't snarky enough. Idris Elba portrayal as The Gunslinger Roland Deschain was satisfying. This movie feels like the movie studio suits interfered every step of the way. A lot of potential to tell a great story but fell way short.

There has been a fairly consistent argument with this movie. Half of the reviews were not good and other reviews were mediocre. Like many viewers, who were also avid lovers of the book series, most were let down at the very brief glimpse into the story of the characters and world in the Dark Tower books. It's like trying to cram the Harry Potter series or the Hobbit AND Lord of the Rings series into a 90 minute movie. Too much that is loved from the books is left out to make it enjoyable and creates a lot of confusion to most who are not familiar with the story. It's worth watching once or twice though as a glimpse into the really good story written by Stephen King.

im always wondering are movie reviews in best buy about the movie or about the product? i liked this movie but it looked better in the ads. i was a little dissapointed with the ending. it was very vague. sony hasnt been doing good lately.

I enjoy watching anything with Idris Elba in it and this movie doesn't disappoint. It's an interesting twist and could use a little more explanation on the plot but you'll be able to understand everything regardless. I recommend it.

Saw this movie in theatres, it is a good film. Comparing it to the book is redundant and it lessens how good the movie itself is. They are different in many ways, however all in all treating this as a film it’s pretty enjoyable.

The continuous fight of good against evil. This has a different twist with both characterizations travelling through door ways of time and distance. Very interesting parts played by the stars.
