This animated movie is a truer interpretation of the original comic book series compared to the Doomsday movie that came out several years ago. This movie does take place in the New 52 animated universe and has some changes as a result. This was a lot of fun to watch! There is quite a few deaths and a bit of blood if you are concerned about that sort of thing for kids. The figure looks great too!

Being that it has been 11 years since DC started doing these animated movies and Death of Superman was their first in 2007. It’s fitting that they redo it again and this version is just right! They make it fit into their animated continuity of films while take a few liberties... and it works perfectly! Plus I love getting the Best Buy exclusives with the mini hardcover comic books! A must have!

So-So Reboot of '07 "Death of Superman"

Great! A "new" DC animated feature featuring Superman that is not so new(See 2007's premiere "Superman:Doomsday" that began the maiden voyage of DC animated films). I would rather own the follow-up to the '92 epic comic story "Death of Superman" called "Reign of the Supermen" which featured multiple characters inspired by Kal-El (Superboy, Steel(Shaq!!), Eradicator, Cyborg--spoiler;the real bad guy!) than revisit the Doomsday/Supes slugfest. Now, mind you, I bought the original "Death of Superman" storyline when it first came out in '92 & loved it because my father, my personal "superman," had passed away earlier in the summer & reading later about the fictional "death" of a global icon was bittersweet, surreal. I have good news to share: DC "listened" to me because in the Special Features of the "Death of Superman"('18 reboot), there is a sneak peek trailer of DC's next animated film: "Reign of Supermen"!! The hard part is to condense that whole story into less than 85 minutes! Now, I wonder if DC will turn the 1995 "Death of Clark Kent" comics story into an animated film later(only sales of these films will dictate that!)... Getting back to "Death of Superman"('18 reboot), I enjoyed watching interactions between Clark and Lois. Doomsday is still a nonstop juggernaut abomination of death. I would have liked to see more of Metropolis's citizens' perceptions of Supes before and after the battle royale. All in all, a much better film than the first 2007 "Superman:Doomsday"!

So close and nostalgic, yet just not quite perfect

I was happy to see a representation as about as close as we could ever have hoped for of the Death of Superman storyline and honestly, while it was nostalgic to see so much of the content make it in, the modernization of the story with elements reflecting more the current DCU versus the DCU of back then was what threw me off because I feel that not only could it have lent itself so much better to the visuals, but we could have seen new heroes and characters previously not on-screen.

I enjoyed this version of the retold story of how Superman died. The only thing I did not like was now I have to wait until the follow up movie is released. The bonus features were fun to watch too as they explained why they told the story in the manner they did and what is next to come. I could have bought the 4K version but I wanted this because of the collectible figure.

At first I thought this was a repackage of the Doomsday movie, so almost didn't get it. But after researching, I realized it was a retelling based on the Death of Superman comics. This is one of the better done of the DC Films. It also is a set up for a "to be continued" series on the follow up the rebirth of Supermen. If you are a fan of DC universe films - you want this

Loved the original comic book story and was hesitant about buying this movie because 1) I haven't been a huge fan of the recent Justice league animated film adaptations and 2) Superman Doomsday was the first film to kick off these animated movies so why revisit. But boy was I wrong!!!!! This is one of the greatest animated adaptations, on par with The Dark Knight Returns.

    New 52 Death of Superman

This movie takes place in the "52" timeline of Death of Superman. Which goes with the DC Animated Justice League. It is a great film for the average viewer but it is not "great". It has great voice actors playing in it. You have a good story line that comes before "Doomsday" showing up. Then the end credit content shows the Supermen that are replacing the void of Superman. Not like I spoiled anything, this is a reimagine of the 90s comic/cartoon version in the 52 era.

Just as good as when it came out on DVD. Great story, though not as good as the comics. All of the elements for the comics are here, and it is nice that they are doing the follow up early 2019 with the rise of the Supermen. Iconic story with one of the greatest superheros of all time. Like an old friend or loved one, this one is always worth seeing.

This particular film really did the story better justice then the first adaptation, "SUPERMAN/DOOMSDAY". Even though it was revamped in the new 52 style, I still enjoyed it. Then again I'm an avid Superman fan so not only did I buy this version with the Graphic Novel but as well as the action figure one. Got to have both if you're a collector as I am.

It's the third film about the Death Of Superman. It's set in the New 52 Universe but follows closer the original Silver Age story line with a second part about the Reign of the Superman to follow. A small Easter egg to the 90's comic. It featured the Justice League but hope it will include Supergirl in the sequel. The Doomsday DVD worth also seeing but condensed the story into one film. Doesn't really compare to Batman v Superman with similar endings.

    Agreat Story Gets Its Due

Years ago, DC made an animated film called Doomsday that attempted to tell the story of the Death of Superman but it was too short and skipped much of what made the story so iconic. Death of Superman corrects that. The story is given the time it needs to show the devastating battle that would take Superman. Better still, this is just Part One!

This is the latest to add to my collection of DC animated movies. This story gets a proper redo from their last attempt a few years back. This time around you get the full devastation of Doomsday with his crazed onslaught against the Justice League. I definitely recommend this to the DC fans out there... but you probably already own this too.

I absolutely loved it!! I have been waiting for yrs for them to do a animation film version of this and they did it correctly. They did proper justice and showed respect to the comic. I’m 50 yrs old and the Desth of Superman happened back when I was in my early 20’s.

This is a great rendition on the death of Superman. It appears to be set with the New 52 DC version of heroes. The art and animation are crisp and awesome to watch. The story line is easy to follow, well written, and tragic. The voice acting is really good and fits the animation. This is well done and shows why DC animation is the best.

I was 9 years old when I read Roger Stern's Death and Life of Superman, and the same age when I played the SNES game. It's such a good story and to see it in animated movie form is even better. This is the first part of a series covering the Death of Superman and Funeral for a Friend. If you're a fan of Superman you'll love this show!

An updated telling of the classic death of Superman storyline. the animation is on par with other dc animation as is the voice acting. the statuette is also a nice touch. Extras are somewhat minimal hut do have 2 extra dc bonus cartoons and a documentary. it also has a preview for Reign of the Superman. Overall excellent experience
