Didn't like the animation style or the simplistic story. Love Superman, hated this.

Where Batman v Superman Failed... this Succeeds

In 2007, DC Released Superman Doomsday. This covered the Death of Superman story where Superman fought Doomsday. 11 years later, DC retells the story. The story seems to pick up after Justice League War. The Justice League has been assembled and is now funded by the UN. Superman is having issues navigating his personal and league life. Afraid to bring Lois into the world of gods and monsters, Superman struggles with taking the relationship to the next level. Meanwhile, a dark cloud looms on the horizon. Crash landing in the sea, the asteroid brings the harbringer of death... Doomsday. This is the key points of the Death of Superman. The majority of the movie is either Clark Kent (Superman) navigating his relationship with Lois Lane or the Justice League fighting Doomsday. This is both a strong point and a detriment to the movie. The part about Superman and Lois was well written. How does a hero balance his personal and public lives? Can you bring someone else into your world without endangering them? These key questions are wrestled with during the story. This story arch comes to an abrupt end as the Doomsday arch swells. The Doomsday story is the monster that leaves destruction in its wake. Doomsday kills without remorse. Doomsday feeds off of violence. Doomsday is the ultimate killing machine. If you know the story, or read the title, you know how this movie ends. It is about Superman's death. Unlike the 2007 Superman Doomsday (which tells both the death and ressurection of Superman), this film only focuses on the Death of Superman, making it feel like half a movie. Batman vs Superman (2016) dealth with the Death of Superman, only to have him revived in Justice League (2017). It seems to me like DC is planning an animated cinematic universe to make up for the live action movies performing poorly at the box office. Given that there are two major plot lines in this film, I'm a little disappointed. The fights are fun to watch. There were a few times where I was like "ooh.. that had to hurt". The brutality of Doomsday gave DC quite a bit to work with. The Superman/Lois arch was well written. The Credits even drop hints at upcoming DC animated films. I would recommend buying this movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit despite it feeling like half a story. I look forward to the animated ressurection of Superman.

You will not be disappointed in this retelling of the death of Superman story. I felt like this told the story better than the other older movie(Doomsday). Can’t wait to see the second half!

everything Superman Doomsday SHOULD HAVE BEEN

watch the film first & ending credits before viewing "reign of superman" teaser. Rented from redbox DAY ONE and ♥♥♥♥ it. Will buy during Black Friday once goes ON SALE. keeping this "SOMEWHAT SHORT" because if read doomsday awakening arc & death of superman comic during the 90's ya already know all this I ♥ how the movie lead up to arrival of doomsday. its called BUILD UP people. if movie was just the epic fight then film length would have only been HALF THAT First off PHOOEY on IGN "mediocre" they complained too much. Most online YouTube videos I watched pretty much praised this film :) one person complained about Lex Luthor voice actor which that didn't bother me Superman doomsday OK for what it was but main problem was tried TOO HARD to be a PG-13 film and really wasn't all that violent but death of superman phew... it was STEPPED UP BIG TIME the only MINOR GRIPE I had was no appearance of JLA members like in comic and then have main JL members show up. Yes I know animated films have A SET BUDGET and warner bros & DC they can't put everything in there film has to be condensed somewhat The final battle between Superman & doomsday was VERY BRUTAL & DESTRUCTIVE much more so than I was expecting

    DC Still tops in animation

DC's retelling of the Death of Superman saga is a more fleshed out version of its epic version 11 years ago. This telling has a different voice cast that out shines the original work. Jerry O'Connell and wife Rebecca Romign are perfect as Clark and Lois. The natural chemistry makes their readings more believable. The rest of the cast are as good. The best aspect of this version is DC's vision to break the story into at a least two parts. There's more room to explore what's going on with Supes. He's conflicted with what to do about his relationship with Lois but now has to go face his greats physical challenge. It doesn't feel as condensed as the first version. The animation is spectacular as usual. Maybe DC should let these guys do the live action stuff as well.

    This movie is great, but...

Let me first say I didnt like superman doomsday, but I did love BvS doomsday fight and his death was heartfelt for me in BvS. While this movie truelly is a better adaptation, it didnt have the impact and it was the relation of superman and louis. In JL war and ToA supes is with WW and now they’re not together and you have to feel that clarks and louis ralation meen something and they shove it to you in the begining so its more true to the comic. But seeing the JL beeing defeated and needing supes defines why the world needs him. DC rules in animation and in movies.
