I admire the effects, classic no cgi back then....

I haven't watched this movie in years until I recently purchased it on blu-ray. It doesn't stand the test of time like classics such as The Exorcist or Poltergeist. Personally, I enjoyed the 2013 remake a lot more. This one's a tough call.

the movie is one of my ALL TIME FAVZ{back in the day of VHS-tapes}......BUT...the upgrade to blueray did not work here, it made it so grainy that i was unimpressed, even at a sale price it wasn't worth it in the end

My steelbook arrived on time and in pristine condition. I only ordered one steelbook which is probably better than having multuple steels stacked together during shipping. S&H was free anyways!

The steelbook casing is the best packaging you can buy for your movies. Extremely durable but the art work is slightly lacking with the exception of the front. Lacking in extras but the movie looks beautiful and has no problems in this release.

For such a cult classic to be made with such a little budget and done so well i am in awe of this movie! Until Dawn of the Dead remake came out this was my favorite movie of all time. The first Evil Dead is so scary and there is some cheese in some parts which hey, it can be overlooked. Also a few mess ups that is easily over looked depending on how you look at it! (if you are a true fan of this movie, Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell you know what I'm talking about) But to be made by college students is extraordinary. This is one of the best iconic films of all time horror or any genre. Shocking, funny in parts, scary as anything i've ever seen, this is one movie that never gets old. So much better than the other 2 flicks in the trilogy. Word is once Sam Raimi finishes with the Spiderman movies he may make a part 4 or possibly a remake, unfortunately these at the moment, are just rumors. If you are a fan of horror movies this is one that not only needs to be watched but one that needs to be in the collection!

Disappointed by this release. The art is beautiful and movie looks great but there is a BestBuy exclusive Blu-ray that has a extra disc with special features that are not available on any other release. It’s a shame that they did not make the steelbook the version with the special disc since this is a superior packaging to the other better release.

This is the best Evil Dead has ever looked. The image is bright, clean full of detail and has a film like texture. Anchor bay cleaned up the film source without relying on DNR. The audio is a TrueHD 5.1 lossless soundtrack and it sounds very clean and strong. This is the version to buy if you do not care about the special features disc found on the special edition Blu-Ray set.

I don't usually like the old horror movies because they look so fake, but The Evil Dead is an Amazing Movie. I saw the remake of the Evil Dead, it was a good movie in it's own way, but it does not compare to the original. If your an Evil Dead fan you got to get it on Blu-ray, better picture and better audio. You can't go wrong with The Evil Dead on Blu-ray.

As the title of my review says, the original Evil Dead is one of the best horror movies ever. Thankfully, this Blu-ray release presents the film in its original full-frame aspect ratio (plus a cropped widescreen version - but, stick with the original aspect ratio). For a film more than 30 years old and shot on a miniscule budget, the picture quality on this BD release is fantastic.

Bruce Campbell at the beginning of his b-movie legendary career. This differs from it's followups, as it is straight up horror, and what a great flick this is. It was made on a shoestring budget, and has made that budget back in spades. Watch this movie. You will not be disappointed.

Evil dead starts slowly and is more serious than the movies that follow it... Great cult classic ... I've seen the broadway play of it and wish they'd film the play and sell it... Leads right into evil dead 2 which leads right into army of darkness... All great and should be sold in box set.

one of the best horror films gets star treatment the extras are great the movies looks and sounds great plenty of interviews and bonus footage. this is a great buy for anyone into this franchise or even just horror fans. there are only 2 movies that ever made me lose sleep and this is one of them

Good movie. I prefer Evil Dead 2 & Army of Darkness though. Bruce Campbell rocks.

This is one of my favorite horror movies. The low budget adds to the charm. Great audio and video on this disc but those who don't like gore and violence should beware.

It doesn't get any better than this! I'm so happy to see this classic come alive again in all its glory! I just hope the rest of the series is given the same honor.

This movie is great. The DVD has some nice special features, including a great easter egg where Bruce Campbell talks about the fans. Highly recommended.

I remember this from my childhood and it scared the he## out of me then, I consider the 80s horror the best
