Being a true life story makes this movie so appealing to me. This is a compelling true life story of Dicky Eklund and his brother Micky Ward. Dealing with Dicky's lifelong drug addiction battles (documented in a 1990's HBO documentary) and his fall from fame, and Micky's family and career struggles, to become his own person and personal best. This movie will take you from the depths of sadness, to the joy of triumph in 115 minutes! You may want to watch the original HBO documentary as well "High on Crack street"! That is being renactedly filmed during this movie (it's still out there on media sites) Also watch the special features... it is very interesting to hear the backstage production information (especially about the actors). Finally... it is AMAZINGLY well acted by ALL. This movie should have been more well known!

Christian Bale is amazing- this has got to be his best performance to date. The entire cast is wonderful, in fact, notably Melissa Leo (from NBC's "Homicide:Life on the Street") who, like Bale, gave an Oscar winning performance. Seldom do you see such a strong cast give such wonderful performances playing people so very, very human. Definitely one to watch.

This is one of my all time favorite movies. I found it in the Best Buy $4.00 and under bin. Such a great movie, and priced at $3.99 I will never complain. I watched the movie with a few friends who never saw it before, and they loved it! Thanks Best Buy

Mark Walhberg excels in this fantastic movie. It really brings home the internal and external struggles of a fighter trying to make his way up through the ranks to being a champion. One of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Great movie, really good performances by everyone but the one that steals all the scenes is christian bale, very well deserved the oscar that give him for this movie

Great movie. The acting is done well. The fact that it's based on a true story is great. Shows a real side to the movie. The actors did great in portraying the real people. It's a good boxing movie with some truth to it.

I truly enjoy watching Mark in this movie. He has played the main character in several movies based upon true events. Great boxing movie!

Whenever I go to Best Buy I always check out the sales they have on DVD's. There are always treasures to be found in the bin and I found this classic on my last visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Acting by Christine Bale was incredible. The very end of the movie when the real characters are revealed is a really good moment.

The fact that it was based upon 2 brothers. Was inspiring. I hadn't heard about this movie before buying it. But it is one that I would watch over and over again.

Like how it depicted a family together even though there was drug abuse and both brothers getting to where they wanted to be in their lives despite the drugs

Inspirational boxing drama about "the comeback kid" provides solid entertainment, and Amy Adams is always easy on the eyes !

I was glued to the tv screen & was in awe of how well the actors portrayed the lives of the actual people the movie was about.. I give this movie 10 stars

This movie inspire brotherhood's friend and family links is close to some of the family relation in the small towns, good performance great actors.

The Fighter is a great drama movie that's not only about boxing but about family. Would recommend if you loved Rocky or Raging Bulls.
