THE MOVIE WAS GOOD, BUT I THINK THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, WAS BETTER OVER-ALL STORYLINE, AND THE ACTOR & ACTRESS WAS BETTER IN THE FIRST ONE. DECENT ACTRESS IN THIS ONE THOUGH.

This is a spinoff from the girl with the dragon tattoo... not as good as the books or the 2 orginal versions of the movies.

If you were a fan of the first film you won’t like this. No depth to the story. Zero intrigue and extremely predictable.

The title says it all. They shouldn't have recast the lead but they should have had a better story.

The movie drag on to get to the plot. The woman hero did not fight enough. Although the ending was ok.

If you came here looking for a movie even half as good as the original, dont bother. The film is filled with pointless Hollywood tropes, cliches and plot holes. Enjoy the original.

I don't envy anyone having to follow David Fincher, but this is almost BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY bad. Eschewing the dread and nuance of the previous films (any of them, really), this iteration is — at best — a low-rent James Bond movie that takes a perilously glib approach to psychosexual trauma. more often, it feels like a nü-metal remake of the already godawful MERCURY RISING. Alvarez is totally boxed in by Fincher's aesthetic, handcuffed (or sealed in latex) by the severity of his style but also trying to resist it at every turn. Foy… could have been good? Maybe? If she were given even the slightest hint of an actual character? I *adore* her on THE CROWN, and think she does compelling work in a thankless role in FIRST MAN, but she's never as serrated, wounded, or dangerous as either Rooney Mara or Noomi Rapace. And don't get me started on the doofus they got for the Daniel Craig part — Lakeith Stanfield's rogue NSA agent might be a total mess who strains credibility at every turn and should have been cut from the movie completely, but at least *he* feels wasted. On the bright side, there's a minor character who has a detachable face, and his sinuses seemed *really* clear, and I was kind of happy for him. Every cloud has it's silver lining.

    Dreadful - avoid

This is dreadful movie with horrible script writing that is completely stupid and characters that were dull and terribly bland. It is no way close to the fantastic writing of the original series. Here are some of the main logic gaps (spoiler alert): The main plot is a criminal group is trying to steal a computer hacker’s program for all the nuclear weapon launch codes, across the globe. However, this hacker is in the protective custody of the Swedish Government. The criminals manage to quickly kill off the mere four policemen guarding the hacker and gain access to him and his son in their house. If the hacker has access to the Russian and Chinese nuclear weapon launch codes, then shouldn’t there be a lot more guards armed with more powerful weapons than just pistols? The Dragon Tattoo Girl then rushes in to try to protect the hacker and his son. However, the bad guys decide to kill the hacker, frame the Tattoo Girl from the murder and kidnap the son, hoping that the son would know the computer program access code. What on earth? Why not just kidnap the hacker and his son? By threatening to harm his son, the hacker would have quickly given up the access code. Plus, how did they know that she was going to make a rescue? Needless to say, it gets worse from there. She makes a miraculous recovery and a far fetched chase and rescue occurs. Then another kidnapping and the big finale, another illogical action scene and rescue. The finale was completely stupid. She gets captured trying to rescue the boy and journalist. However, her hacker friends not only have a high tech thermal imaging system that can spot all the criminals inside the stone building, it is also connected to a high powered sniper rifle with bullets that easily penetrate the stone walls. Hmm… Perhaps they should have used the thermal camera to spot the criminals the first time or just shot them, thus she wouldn’t have been captured. Then there is the villain who hired the criminals. Yes, being politically correct, it isn’t a terrorist group (like a James Bond movie), but the Swedish government agent in charge of protecting the hacker. Huh? She already had the hacker and son under their protection, there was no need to hire criminals to kidnap him. And then there is the main criminal, who is the Dragon Tattoo Girl’s sister. The sister hates her because she escaped their sexually abusive father and didn’t come back to rescue the sister. What on earth? The original author wrote the books where her father had beaten her mother and she took revenge by burning him. She was then committed to a mental hospital for years. The new author has really ruined the original author’s characters and Hollywood script writers made bland characters without any charm, personality, or chemistry to draw audiences to like them. Avoid this miserable movie and farce of a spin off. The original books and Swedish movies have a lot more charm and character.
