Good blu-ray deal when on sale at Best Buy and they had it in stock.

not my type of movie, was hard to watch the whole movie

Lot's of great reviews in time for the Oscars, with an extensive cast. Played in for a large group of family and friends. Lost most of their interest in the first half hour. Very disappointed with this one!

why did this win an Oscar? This and bird man are the worst movies I ever bought, I wish I could get the 1.5 hours back that I used to try to watch it... My advice skip this horrible movie!

The digital code is expired and countless calls with Best Buy support have proved unhelpful. If you don't need the code, five star purchase.

What was I thinking? It must have been a different movie I had in mind when I bought this. If anyone found redeeming information in this movie, I would be amazed! A horrible movie.

Kept waiting for it to get funny or even slightly interesting. Never happened. Turned it off and gave it to the give away box at work.

I wasted my money on this DVD Couldn't even finish watching it. The movie was so bad. I couldn't understand all the hype at the Oscars.

COULD NOT WATCH DUE TO BEING DEFECTIVE DVD. TOO BAD.

Truthfully, I was looking for another dvd to watch when I unexpectedly came across this movie. The Grand Budapest Hotel contains various action sequences that definitely keep you on the edge wanting to find out more. The front of the dvd cover has multiple famous celebrity names that are attached to this movie (Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Owen Wilson and more names etc). The Grand Budapest Hotel opens with a popular and gifted concierge named Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes) who is shown saying farewell to a wealthy and refined older lady named Madame D who loves him very much (Tilda Swinton). Gustave H also takes a young apprentice named Zero (Tony Revolori) under his wing. Gustave’s life starts to change dramatically after Madame D dies. Clues start to abound on what Gustave could be in for once he meets Madame D’s son Dmitri. Gustave admits to Dimitri of a relationship with Madame D that was more than just friends. However, Dimitri does not offer any sympathy to Gustave and rather chastises him for his romantic preferences for both men and women (through this scene alone the movie starts to paint the emotional tension that is starting between Dimitri and Gustave). The Special Features of this dvd include Mendl’s Secret Recipe (they actually show how to make one of the dessert confections from the movie), Cast and Wes Anderson’s Featurettes, and Stills Gallery.

This is the story of Gustave H., the Concierge of The Grand Budapest Hotel, told from the viewpoint of Zero, his "Lobby Boy," during the tumultuous period between the First and Second World Wars. Set in the fictitious country of Zubrowka, M. Gustave must deal with amorous elderly women, a valuable stolen painting, the police (looking into the death of an amorous, elderly woman), and fascists everywhere, while he pampers his hotel patrons, avoids the police, and cares for the welfare of his loyal hotel employees. The film has an unusual, cartoonish look at times, with bright, garish colors and patterns, making this visually interesting, though jarring for some people. And, the film may be a bit choppy for others, due to the voiceovers and quick scene changes necessary to move the story along. Take the movie as a fantasy recollection from the (now elderly) lobby boy; a visual representation of his wistful memories of the past, come to life in the telling of the tale of his mentor, Monsieur Gustave H. And, as the cherry on top, this movie additionally benefits from the Blu-Ray treatment of great color and fine detail, particularly appreciated for a film of this type.

It's one of my favorite Wes Anderson movies. I liked how he filmed it with all those amazing colors and backgrounds. The sets look amazing too. The music is great as always. The characters are fine, but I only really enjoyed Fiennes and Norton's characters. The comedic moments are in the right place. Great movie to watch on blu-ray.

Very great movie, if you liked others, you'll like the latest one! The scenery, the dialogue, the plot; it all just mashed up to create one heck of a story. Yes it's somewhat of an art house film. But knowing Wes Anderson, you know what you are getting yourself into! So enjoy it!

I rather liked this summary from James Berardinelli of ReelViews: “It offers an engaging 90+ minutes of unconventional, comedy-tinged adventure that references numerous classic movies while developing a style and narrative approach all its own.” Some elements of homage, yet its own film.

I knew before I ever watched the movie it was going to be good. I saw the list of actors, all the award nominations and thought I will buy this movie without even seeing it first. I was not disappointed. It was funny, so if you enjoy laughing(who doesn't) then you can buy this one.

I was just expecting to see an alright movie when I started watching it. I had heard good reviews and all. When I finished watchin it I was surprised that it was that good. It has a great mix of dark comedy, adventure, mystery and satire. Great acting also. Well worth watching.
