    Wholeheartedly Tarantino!

An enjoyable film that has enough twists, comedy, and action to keep it interesting throughout. Kurt Russel is great, as is Sam Jackson. The rest of the cast is good, but those two stand out. The only real problem I have with this movie is that it's so clearly Tarantino. That's not a bad thing, but what it means is that by the end of the movie you kind of feel like it's a story you've seen before. It reminded me mostly Reservoir Dogs. Definitely good and definitely worth a watch, especially if you're a Tarantino fan.

    A Quick 2¢

This is certainly not his strongest effort. I have felt previously that his films just kept getting better and better. That ended here and I felt there was a significant drop off. Pacing seemed to be the biggest issue with the film to me and could've benefited being much shorter. Don't get me wrong, still a great film and in typical Tarintino fashion. But I would only place this one above Deathproof. Even one of his worse films is still better than most.. So basically just ignore my whining and buy this film.

When Quentin Tarantino's script for the Hateful Eight leaked online, he decided to scrap the idea of making it into a movie, but later a table read was "performed" for an audience using some of Quentin's favorite actors. The response was so positive that he decided to go through with the filming. Along with Reservoir Dogs, Hateful Eight could be a fantastic stage play set primarily in one location. Violent, vulgar, and full of excellent dialogue. NOT FOR KIDS! (unless your kids are cool.)

Must Have Blu-Ray for Beautifully Shot Picture

This is Tarantino's best movie since his pre Kill Bill days. He has been returning to making interesting movies lately and this is his best in years. Yes, it could have been better with more plot twists, but the writing and acting are superb. It's a lot of fun to watch. This blu-ray is the a great presentation of the movie, and this film was shot beautifully by Roger Deakins - it is stunning, both the indoor dark scenes and the snow scenes. It really deserves to be seen in this high quality blu-ray format.

Excellent movie from Quentin Tarantino - Blu-ray transfer was excellent - sound was excellent - great cast - very violent though. If you are a Quentin Tarantino fan this is a must buy - Also, the film is in a very wide aspect ratio so you will see black bars on a 16x9 TV - if you have video projector and an 80-inch or larger screen, you will get a much better viewing experience - was shot using 65mm film cameras and then transferred to 70mm - very rare these days.

I'm a big fan of Quentin Tarantino. If you aren't, you probably won't like this movie. I didn't really watch any trailers for this because I wanted to see it without knowing what it was about, aside from a bunch of cowboys in a cabin. The interactions of the characters is great throughout the entire film. You know that someone in there is up to no good, but it really keeps you guessing. As soon as you think you have it figured out, you realize you don't. Worth watching if you're a QT fan and also if you liked Django Unchained.

I have a love/hate relationship with Tarantino movies. I always know that he will bring something unique and interesting to the screen and bring great performances out of his casts, but I shy away from the films upon first release due to all the hero worship and hype in the press. This is a solid evening's entertainment. It moves along with a good pace and never felt like it was dragging, even though it is a long run time. Not the western I thought it would be, but definitely something worth watching.

    Great Steelbook- but nothing fancy...

A great purchase for any Steelbook Collector, and especially for any Tarantino fan! The color scheme is a bit cliched, with the over-powering red being used on (quite frankly) FAAAAAR to many steelbook releases, however, for this particular film, its very fitting. There is no embossing or raised lettering on this Steelbook- making it a little less than truly impressive, but over all- a still worthwhile purchase that I can easily recommend to any film fan.

When i first looked at the runtime of this movie(168 minutes) i was a bit shocked, but then i remembered this is Samuel L Jackson and Quentin Tarantino, so there's going to be some epic dialogue and this movie did not disappoint. I enjoyed it from beginning to end despite the long runtime. No need to compare this to Django Unchained. These are 2 totally different movies. If you are a fan of Tarantino's work, then this is a must watch. I highly recommend this movie.

Taking into account my love of Westerns, both our classic American versions and those from Europe. I was happy to see a western from the director of several of my favorite movies. Initially the landscape is breath taking and the character introductions amusing. Then we get inside and we have an Agatha Christie mystery on steroids. There were times it seemed to self aware. I enjoyed it but it could have been better and with better editing shorter.

Purchased this during the holidays and was saving it to watch the Magnificent 7, first. However, there was no need for that. The movie is very interesting and it keeps you on the edge of your suspense seat, just when you think you can trust a person, the movie give you a reason to not trust them. Interesting twist though, towards the end of the movie, they go to a cut scene and show you what happened to lead up to that part and then finishes out the movie. Great movie

Another Tarantino Movie, Another Modern Classic

When you think of modern filmmakers, Quentin Tarantino is one of them that comes to mind. The Hateful Eight is his newest film and spotlights all of the things that he's known for and some new techniques. The ability to juggle genres in this film blends seamlessly and the actors' performances immerse you into the film, especially Oscar Nominated Supporting Actress Jennifer Jason Leigh. This movie is MUST SEE if you are a fan of Tarantino movies or murder/suspense genres.

"The Hateful Eight" was meant to be seen on big screens in glorious 70MM. It was shot that way and composed for the big screen. But at home, this blu-ray packs a sweet little punch of great storytelling filled with edgy twists and turns, and a lesson in cinematography and screen direction. The video is just about reference quality. The audio is excellent. The extras are lacking but the still, it's highly recommended.

The majority of Best Buy's steelbooks are pretty great. This is one of them, as it is a good movie with artwork on the outside and inside. Over time, you can tell that they have a standard steelbook that is adapted to the movie being released. This steelbook only has two discs, but has three disc holders, one of which was used for the digital HD code. I don't really have a problem with it, but there is an empty slot as of now.

1: You have to like Tarantino-style language and violence. 2: You can't be in a hurry. 3: You should be OK with characters you don't like. A 'yes' to 1, 2 and 3 means this is a movie for you! I am fine with 1 and 2, but 3 is where this movie fell short for me. Almost all other Tarantino films have at least a couple characters that are likeable, somebody who you are rooting for. In Pulp Fiction, despite how ruthless Vincent and Jules are, you want them to achieve their goals, when Vincent dies you are sad. You want The Bride to get her revenge in Kill Bill. Think of a Tarantino film and you can probably think of a character you liked despite the fact that they were a drug dealer, bank robber or assassin. Conversely this film does not have any characters that I really cared about. When they die, meh. The stakes, which were very high for the characters in the film, felt flat to me because I didn't care. I watched to see how they would die and who would live, but I wasn't moved my any of it. It is beautifully shot and some of the characters and dialog are top-notch, but the package lacks the emotional connection present when you care abut what happens to the characters.

This movie is the 8th film by quentin tarantino, and if you have seen his film reservoir dogs, then I assure you that this film is equally as great. Now that you know the movie is great, how about the case. This steelbook is awesome. I personally was torn between buying the steelbook and the original, and let me tell you that I am not disappointed at all with my steelbook decision. It firs great with my django unchained steelbook. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie.

    Tarantino Western

The Hateful Eight, despite its arguable overlength (this version, the shorter general release iteration, runs close to three hours), is still an often viscerally entertaining experience. The film is filled to the brim with such memorable characters that it hardly matters when all is said and done. I have to wonder if we're going to see a "Special Edition" of this film coming down the pike which includes the roadshow version

This modern Western is classic Quintin Tarantino: a rag-tag group of characters, each with their own dark history and objective, are forced together into a secluded wintery stagecoach stopover -- with deadly consequences. The witty dialogue is what we've come to expect from a Tarantino film, and the story concludes, as expected, in a bloody climax. No real surprises here, and not his best film -- but still, a fine addition to your Tarantino and/or Western collection.

If you've never seen a Tarintino film before, don't see this one YET. Watch his earlier films especially Reservoir Dogs. The Hateful Eight is a throw back to his first film and you'll appreciate this film more if you watch Reservoir Dogs first. The Hateful Eight is chalk full of everything I've grown to love about Tarantino films, the dialogue, character development, gore and plain entertainment. The Hateful Eight is the best Tarantino film in many years. Go see it!

Though some may shy away from this movie because of its running time as well as the fact that it's basically a filmed play, it looks and sounds fantastic. The cinematography is crystal clear. It utilizes 70mm panavision, which may seem absurd since most of the action is inside of one location, but the outside scenes are gorgeous. The Oscar winning soundtrack is vintage Ennio Morricone. Overall, it may be a little long, but if you're open-mided, it's well worth it.
