The product itself is great. The first time I saw the movie (in the theater) I was disappointed to the amount taken away compared to the MASSIVE amount added (unnecessarily). This time around it wasn't as bad. As far as the quality of 3d, it was great, better this time not seeing it in HFR. Probably an AMAZING movie for those who have not read the book or are not fans of it.

I could sit and watch this over and over. While I'll agree the extended edition doesn't add a lot of run time it does add to the movie and the story. Especially to the meeting in Rivendale. I'm a huge LOTR fan and appreciate the tie in to LOTR movies.

A great spinoff of the Lord Of The Rings movies. Pack with action, great acting and special effects. Purchased the second Hobbit movie so I wanted to have the first to add to my collection. At a $9 price this was a bargain for blue ray movies.

Once again Peter Jackson brings Middle-Earth to live in this great movie. The visual effects are amazing. As for the packaging. I love collecting these Steelbook editions from Best Buy. I wish they would make them more available for other movies.

This is movie is similar to Fellowship of the Ring in that they set up the next movie very well, but itself is a slower pace. The Extended Edition is the way to go. Smaller details in the Desolation of Smaug make more sense with the extended scenes.

If you liked the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you will enjoy seeimg some familiar faces in this prequel. You don't need to watch this movie in 3D to enjoy it, but 3D definitely adds a new dimension to the experience. I highlyrrecommend this movie.

I love what Peter Jackson did to the story of the Hobbit - he and his team are very creative. If you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings, then this movie is a must-have in your collection. I can't wait until the 2nd version comes out in December 2013.

It was a movie for just about everyone. I don't usually watch these type of movies but my family does. I was interested from the beginning and enjoyed the movie. Now my interest is peaked in the genre and will probably watch others that are like this.

I love the Hobbit movies this is a great set. I don't need the blue ray so the DVD and digital copy are great. I love the digital copies of movies because I have a growing library of movies I never have to worry about scratching!

My wife and I watched the movie at our home, and fell in love with the series. As a matter of fact, we watched the first two movies, and then went to see the third movie, all within one week. This is a series we will watch again and again.

I thought the movie was really good. I didn't need the second DVD. The plot was good and the scenery was excellent. It was amazing how they could make regular size people look so small against other regular people. I liked the movie very much.

This extended version of the film is longer and it is a great film. And a great director. No problem with the film. And the features had no problem with it. I enjoyed it. and can't wait to get the second and the third extended version.

A masterpiece in addition to The Lord of the rings trilogy in a prologue that stars Bilbo baggins as the main protagonist. Lots if luscious effects and overall acting of the actors are well performed. Loved the movie,can't wait for the next one!

Coming off of the LOTR Trilogy this story is good, however, they are taking a single book and turning it into 3 movies. Which if the writers had chosen to do extensive character depth that would be one thing, but no instead they opted to add adventures that never happened into the story to make a trilogy. What came across as a passion for the LOTR Trilogy, definitely feels like greed in this installment. The movie is good, but it all feels subpar next to LOTR. The 48FPS 3D experience was horrid. I read the review heard the comments, but just had to see for myself. I went it thinking everyone was just being critical, but they were right. I felt like I was watching a bunch of men dressed in costumes trying to act. It was bad. The standard 24FPS is much better at giving the movie feel and it masks the bad acting. Even though I wished they would have stuck to the script, the new adventures are fun and don't detract from the story, but just fills in things that might have happened with some tweaking to the original story.

What more can I say - Its the Hobbit in 3 Dimensions! (3D) This film is VERY WELL MADE and the 3D looks AMAZING! I Highly recommend this format for anyone who wants to feel like your in part of the action!

This film has been reviewed a million times by now and there's nothing new I can add. If you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you'll like this, unless you're looking for something different. Try "Supersize Me", it's totally different.

If you enjoyed the "Lord of the Rings" I do believe you will also really enjoy "The Hobbit". The movie is every bit as good as you would expect and the only let down is that you have to wait for the next movie to come out to continue the story.

The movie effects and history is really good, not as good as the book but is really good also the quality of the photos and sound is really good, the only think that is better than this version is the extender version of this movie.

This is a great movie. Even better is this comes with BluRay, DVD and digital copy. My kids and I have watched it numerous times. Our first time was at the theater. We have watched the second sequel and planning to buy that movie as well.

I've been a fan of this series since Lord of The Rings. The story and pace were great. I didn't think the movie really ended but I found out this may be the first of three movies which makes me look forward to another one. Overall, great movie
