Great film. Looks insanely good on my ZT60 Plasma. Even though my TV is 3D, I still prefer the 2D version of most films. 3D seems too dark. This had both versions and the price was really good when I bought it on sale.

I really enjoyed watching the movie the way the director intended it to be. There is over 30 minutes of extra footage and goes into more detail about the relationship between the elves and the dwarfs. Loved the movie!!!

The book I continually read over and over. I have seen attempts at the movie before and none are as good as the book ... until now. Excellent job staying to the story line and bringing me into the movie.

This movie series has been one of my favorite and as the series has continued the care and time involved in each has not dwindled. It truly is a movie you can watch and not feel like you have wasted your time.

I always like The Lord of the Rings movies with all the special effects. The action sscenes were great. It is a long movie so there are bound to be some boring parts. Over all a great movie if you are a fan of LOTR.

The movie itself is enjoyable. However, they should have taken off the "specials" and extras and all that from the main movie disks, and just had the movie on one disk. I'm not sure if that was possible, but I would think it would be. It takes away from the movie to watch it, then stop to put in disk 2 to finish it.

The extended release is better than the theatrical cut. However, The Hobbit still drags due to splitting splitting 1 book into too many movies (opposite of LOTR), it still makes unnecessary changes from the book, and it shouldn't have taken a year to get this version out. That said if you're getting The Hobbit buy this version.

I saw this film in a movie theater in a 2d format. Some images looked weird so i decided lo buy it in 3d to have a complete experience. What a difference, this movie was made to be seen in 3d, you won't regretted.

This is an excellent purchase for any Hobbit or Lord of the Rings fans as it shows a lot of great extras that were not in the original or theater releases. Highly Recommended! Great Bonus Materials as well.

Just as the LOTR extended editions, they did it with the The Hobbit. With the amazing extras and the preview of the next film, we get a look back of the making of the film and learning the process of the filming.

These movies are great for testing out your 3D capabilities for your system. The sound is almost fantastic for testing surround sound. Plus, ti's the Hobbit, whats not to like.

Great movie. Personally, I was a fan of how they combined elements of the Silmarillion with the original plot, as they madre what was essentially intended to be a children's story (albeit a classic) more substantial.

Sound and visuals are second to none. Peter Jackson knows how to tell a tale. Splitting a small book like the Hobbit over three long movies just feels like a mistake. It doesn't flow as well as one of the LOTR films.

Excellent movie! I've read the books, which are of course better, but this is a great depiction of the story. My boys, 15, 13, 10, all loved it as well. If you like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, this is a must see!

the hobbit: an unexpected journey: extended edition is worth it in 3D. i love the steelbook. my only complaint is that i wish it had the movie on a 2d blu-ray disc. but other than that, it's a perfect set

I saw this in movie theaters and couldn't wait till it was out on DVD. This first set is great for a beginner set. There will be more sets and they will have more extras. For a casual viewer this is an awesome set.

Liked the movie better than LOTR. Did not care about the extras that came with the movie just wanted the watch the movie in the 3D. Even though it did not follow the book it was closer, I thought, than LOTR.

Worthy of the LOTR anthology. The cast, acting, directing, special effects, story line, and everything about this movie is EPIC. I expected nothing less, and was not disappointed.

Well done. peter Jackson is a genius with direction and Tolken's work was brought to life with stunning backgrounds and beautiful acting that made me feel that Middle Earth really existed.

It was great seeing the familiar characters/actors from LOTR films mixed in with new characters. Peter Jackson and his team have brought back Tolkien's middle earth to the big screen. I can't wait for part 2!
