did not have any of the Hobbit series and the store employees were a great help to find the series in the correct format that I wanted

This Blu-ray version of the movie includes scenes not included in the theater release to get a more complete story of Tolkien's original vision. It also includes a code for a digital version of the film that can be viewed on any Internet capable device.

I'm 60 and I've owned close to ten sets of the Tolkien collection since I was 19. That's because friends borrowed them and I knew I'd never see the books again. Like many fans of the books, I noticed everything missing from the trilogy movies in the theater and purchased the extended versions as soon as they came out. I still noticed differences, but P.J. captured the trilogy beautifully. That was quite a feat since it's so difficult to truly bring any great book to the screen. Unfortunately, P.J. did a poor job this time. I find no fault with the actors. The casting of Bilbo couldn't have been any better at trying to portray Bilbo's thoughts. The problem is that most of the Hobbit book centers on Bilbo's thoughts. Out of room.

Peter Jackson has directed another masterpiece, in many ways better than the Lord of the Rings series, which many thought was the top of the line when it came out.

It was awesome to go back to middle earth but my only gripes is not with the media itself because it is all good! It just boils down to what most people has already expressed: they should have made only 2 movies. Otherwise, it is a great presentation and purchase!

We love the entire LOTR series. The graphics and cinematography along with the acting is this movie are phenomenal. Watching in 3D, comfy on the couch is even better!

I thoroughly enjoyed the LOTR trilogy & it looks like the Hobbit films will be just as good. Can't wait to see the rest of the story. Thanks, Peter Jackson- well done!

Not as good as LOTR but still very enjoyable. I had heard a lot of middling reviews before I saw it, and was really more than pleased when I actually saw the film.

One for the Collectible shelves. Just like The original, the Collectors/Director's Edition is always the best to watch. Great nastalgia value!

I was very excited to hear that Peter Jackson decided to do the new Hobbit movies. He has done a great job on this one, just like the Lord of the Rings movies. If you would like to see a new adventure from the Lord of the Rings story, this is where to begin.

I would say that this is a great movie for anyone who is a fan of The Lord of the rings. This is a prequel to the lotr movies and is a must see. The movie has some slow points but the action in it is fun and entertaining. The 3d looked really nice on my tv!

The movie is well acted, has great scenery and good special effects. It follows the story as per the book very well. I had not realized it was only a part of The Hobbit so more is to follow. I will certainly get the next part (or parts) when they are released.

Much better than the theatrical release. If you already own the original you might as well give it away or throw it away because you'll never watch it again!

The Hobbitt is a great adventure, fantasy story. Loved all of the Lord of the Rings books and the movies do not disappoint.

The graphic cinematography is absolutely AMAZING! This is a must see movie for the whole family! Pass the popcorn around and make it a movie night with the HOBBIT!!!

The first of 3 parts left us impatiently waiting for the 2nd one. Some of the same characters as The Lord of the Rings, but new faces also. Great entertainment!

great movie. but just to warn people all you get is the 3d version so if you want to watch it any other way id suggest getting a different version of the film

I couldn't wait till it was out on blu-Ray. The movie was superb, the sound superb. The special effects are the best in Hollywood. Cant't wait till the sequels.
