This is the movie version of the Hobbit Book by J.R.R,. Tolkien. A story set in Middle Earth based upon Nordic, Germanic and Celtic mythology and other influences.

As a die hard fan it was definitely worth repurchasing this for the bonus features and especially the scenes that were deleted from the theatrical version.

Regardless if you follow Lord of the Rings or not, I feel like you would be able to follow along and engage yourself with the movie. Also, looks great on a HD tv.

a wonderful movie about Bilbo… although not perfectly tied to The Hobbit, it is still a great story and highly entertaining. The special effects are beautiful.

An Unexpected Journey picks up the story of Bilbo Baggins pre-LOTR. Like all beginnings, it's a bit slow and plodding, though there are a few scenes of action that will keep you interested. All of it builds for the next chapters.

This movie was absolutely amazing. Costumes, effects, design, everything was awesome. As all books turned movies, I was worried, but this movie was excellent!!

The movie was very good and it followed the book well. I find that most books that are made into movies don't follow the book. The only issue I had with the movie is there were parts were it dragged. All in all it was a good movie and one I will watch again.

Great movie. Better to watch back-to-back with parts two and three of this saga. DTS sound track turns your living room into a real home theater.

It was done very good, not same as the movie of the past. But it was very close to the book. Would easily recommend to anyone I talk to or pass in life.

It is always better to buy blue ray! The picture is awesome and I love the extra bonus features for this film, they really fill in some story line gaps

I didn't see this in theaters and waited until it was out on DVD. I'm really happy with this purchase and feel like i'll be watching this movie a few more times.

The extended versions of the Hobbit movies are well worth the investment - if you enjoyed the theatrical release, you will love the additional footage!

This is great if you loved Lord of the Rings and felt youneeded more. Great story and is also part 1 of a trilogy. Looking foward to the rest of the trilogy.

The case for this movie has already fallen apart. Other than that the 3D was ok nothing coming very far out of the screen. Can't wait for the extended edition.

What's not too like. It continues, excuse me, it prequels the Lord of the Rings well. The portions of the storyline, not from the Hobbit, look to be weaved in well but will have to wait and see until the next episode. It stinks having to wait so long!!!!

The hobbit was a pretty good movie. Not as good as Lord of the rings, but the hobbit still gives you that same feeling of being transported to a completely different world filled with imagination. The cinematography and special effects are amazing.

I really enjoyed seeing this on the big screen, but I look forward to seeing the extended edition on my home theater.

Often when there is a series of movies, only the 1st release is good. That is not the case with this one. It will keep you interested during the entire movie.
