I bought this steelbook on release date and I'm perfectly pleased with it. To include the 2D discs would have required making this a jumbo steelbook, which don't look as good as normal ones. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

The Hobbit is the first of a three part movie series who battle the Orcs and leaders of evil trying to control their world. This movie takes you on an adventure through the underworld and the attempt to gain a lost treasure and stature of a civilization.

I would have liked to have seen more extras, but they are probably saving those for what will be the extended versions or director's cuts once all three are released. Have an 8 and 10 year old and it did not frighten them at all. Overall good flick. Did not move slow for me as others have suggested.

The book was way better than the movie but I think for the time alotted it was a great revisit to LOTR. The movie was adventurous and kind of cartoonish at times but otherwise worth the $10 I spend on the DVD. I also seen it in 3D when it came out at the theater. I wasn't disappointed.

The Hobbit makes a great movie and if you enjoyed the first three Lord of the Rings movies then their is no reason to not enjoy this movie. I found some of the plot to be a bit weak and more like movie filler, like the lame woodland wizard Ratagast could of lived without him! Ha ha sorry dude.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was the best prequel to Lord of the Rings explaining the story of Bilbo hired as a Burglar from the Wizard Gandolf to help the dwarfs reclama their treasure that was stolen from the crusade Dragon Smaug.

Having seen this movie in the theatre, we knew we wanted to add it to our collection as soon as it was released. The story is highly entertaining and the characters so well defined! Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will prove to be one of our favorites which we will watch again and again over time.

This blue ray disc is awesome, I also like the fact that the Ultraviolet lets you down more. I purchase all my home electronics and more at Best Buy. No reason to look around they have it. And when they have what you want you can be sure that the price is the best. .......................RT

I love this movie, but I do love just about anything by JRR Tolkien, the father of modern fantasy. The cinematography is almost as epic as the LoTR trilogy. I do have somewhat of a beef that Peter Jackson split the shortest book with the least amount of depth into 3 movies, but I still love it.

I first started reading Tolkien's and Lewis's books when my aunt brought them from the Christian book store where she works, when I was about eight. I never thought I would see them in live action, I have all of Tolkien's, bought the last three separately, better deal.

Bilbo, a hobbit that lives in the shire, is approached by a large wizard proposing an adventure... Well he's kind of forced to go to find a lost treasure of 12 dwarves taken from them years ago..... A magical adventure they go on has a lot of dangers... Will they make it?

As a big fan of the Hobbit/LOTR stories, Peter Jackson has been able to bring to life one of the greatest sagas of modern times to the big screen. If you weren't a lover of the stories before, watching the Blue-ray extended versions will make you one. He has held true to the storylines.

This is the 1st Hobbit movie in the Trilogy and for those who saw Lord of the Rings you know that these movies are Bilbow Baggins back story of his adventures and how he came to possess the ring. These are the prequels to the Lord of the Rings movies and it was a great movie.

I bought this movie for my dad for Fathers Day and he loved it! I hadnt seen any of the previous Lord of the Rings movies but this one was pretty good. It apparently answers a lot of questions & ties in the other movies which is great :-) great buy as well w/ the dvd extras for only $9.99

Read the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings when I was 14. Have loved them ever since then. When movies came out I purchased and fell in love again. This one finishes the series with a bang. A bit of humor woven in. Some sadness too. Overall, a good evening watching.

We're reintroduced to the Hobbits as we learn Bilbo's story. How his adventure starts with the help of Gandalf the wizard. Beginning with fun in the Shire, then encountering trolls and setting up the epic story that eventually leads to the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I saw the hobbit first in the theater and this is my first time watching it at home. The movie was great it was a little slower paced than I remember. The movie held up. But the packaging did not. The copy I purchased had a damaged plastic case. I only found this out after pulling the case out of the decorative sleeve surrounding the case. Not a deal breaker though.

I purchased the 3D version of this movie and it is incredible!! This is such a great beginning to the next trilogy!! My only concern is the possible quality of the plots for the next two movies, but if Peter Jackson deserves anything, it's my trust on his work!! Don't miss this movie!!

I wasn't familiar with the Hobbit series but was talked into getting it from a friend. This was a great introduction to the story and made a big fan of me. Good story line, great graphics and amazing special effects. Makes you want to watch the entire series over and over.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of the story and I enjoyed the movie. But it was drawn out at points and they changed some things from the book for Hollywood. I would watch it again and I will buy the other two. I just think it's odd they stretched a short book into three 3 hour movies.
