Fine ending to what shouldn't have been a trilogy

Almost all of the problems with the Hobbit series were due to the director/producer/distributor stretching out what was possibly one long movie into three.Unlike in "LotR" where Mr Jackson had to do judicious cuts to keep it down to the nine hours in three movies we got, here he's bloating the process beyond what the narrative could give. Still, this installment doesn't suffer so badly as the previous one did, and the main addition here, of Evangeline Lily as Tauriel, is actually an improvement.

Although some hate the fact that this book was composed of three movies, it does allow the producer to elaborate more on the story, which I personally enjoy. However, doing so does cause more focus on something that viewers may not care for. This movie focuses on the battle, but it's done well that it holds your attention. Also, the movie was shot at 48 frames per second, giving the picture a very clear look (some liken it to a "soap opera effect"), which some love and some hate.

Despite what others had to say about this movie, I thought it was an excellent end to the Hobbit trilogy. Of course the extended version will probably give a bit more insight to some of the characters but overall, I felt it was a fitting conclusion....didn't feel rushed to me. I understand what others mean when they speak on the first 2....they were more in depth on the characters whereas this one is all action. Didn't bother me @ all when I watched them back to back...it was GREAT!!!!!

The third and final Hobbit movie brings things to a close. While I can't say I'm a huge fan of Tolkien, I have enjoyed the movies and was cool to see the Hobbit come to life.. previously I'd only seen the Hobbit cartoon from the 70's. It was interesting to try and catch the parts I remembered from the cartoon turned into live action. I'm sure there are probably some of the Tolkien fans that didn't care for these movies but for those of us like me, you'll enjoy this one!

The Epic Conclusion of a Great Trilogy

This is the end of the second Lord of the Rings trilogy. All the pieces of the puzzle fit together nicely. Make no mistake this is digital filmmaking on its grandest stage and the artistry is beyond comprehension. Meticulous detail wrap around this conclusion of the Hobbit series. If the other movies did not interest you, this one won't do much to change that point of view, HOWEVER, if this imaginative world tickles your fancy, you will not be disappointed. One of the best, ever.

I got tired of waiting for the 3-D version to go on sale and just took the plunge. Ouch! Make sure you use some certificates.
I really like 3-D movies and wish there were more titles that were reasonably priced (I don't need three versions of the same flick in the packaging... just give me the 3-D disc and get the price down).
Overall it caps off the series... the effects are really great... this is one of those flicks that is great in series as a marathon watching!

It definitely wasn't as satisfying a conclusion to a trilogy as Return of the King was to Lord of the Rings. It definitely wasn't going to win any Oscars, except for maybe visual effects. However, it was fairly entertaining. Arguably the best part of the movie was the time spent with Gandalf tying the Hobbit Trilogy to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy with his battle against Sauron. This portion was not elaborated upon in the Hobbit book, but it was needed for all of the series fans out there. Peter Jackson did a great job of extrapolating and interpreting with this trilogy, but he unfortunately added too many unnecessary elements to fit one book into 3 movies. Overall, I enjoyed it enough to buy it.

Many fans aren't happy about Peter Jackson Mixing 3 stories into one but seeing the grand battle to finish the movie and the desparation on all sides to keep alive it is finished well with all the main characters stories come to an end This trilogy isn't as good as the lord of the rings, but gives us another Journey into Middle Earth Martin Freeman is excellent as Bilbo and Ian McKellan is awesome as gandalf the gray wizard jUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE RIDE

Who doesn't love Hobbit land.. come on it doesn't get much better than that and it is timeless, something for the entire family to enjoy, explore, dream, live .. I can not believe that this is most likely the end, I want more, more, more... but I am so happy that the world was given such a wonderful gift of this most fabulous journey - the rest will have to remain in my imagination with so many different roads to travel, Bilbo Baggins will live on forever

The movie was a little more expensive at Best Buy, but since I was there shopping anyway I thought I would get it. While waiting in line I went online to another store, found the same thing for a better price and when I got to the register I asked them if they would price match and they did! I got the movie while I was there for $5.00 less. The cashier was easy and excellent to work with and the movie was fantastic. Glad I took the time to ask about price match!

The Hobbit Trilogy (of which this film is the final part) is a perfect example of why I bought a 3-D system. I'm not a Tolkien "purist" and I don't care whether or not certain characters or plot lines belong in this story. I just wanted to be thrilled and entertained, and this title did that in spades! All of the actors fit their roles perfectly, and the 3-D effects definitely helped convey the wonder and magic of Jackson's version of Middle Earth. Bravo to all!

I loved the movie and was eagerly waiting for the extended edition to come out and complete my collection, well, this is no big change to the previous two, but that is a good thing, the case is great and gives that "old book" feel that goes very well as a display item, the extended version of the movie is also very good, it only adds a few scenes but you can at least say you got the most "complete" version of the movie, overall excellent purchase!

Although not entirely faithful to the book (what book based movie is?), it is still a great movie with strong story telling. Peter Jackson has done a good job translating from imagination to the big screen, the tale of middle earth. As George Lucas did with Star Wars' story so did Peter Jackson with middle earth, beginning with Lord of the Rings trilogy then making the Hobbit.
The battle of the five armies is the final chapter of a classic tale of the underdog overcoming all odds and impossible obstacles in a heroes quest- that he wanted no part of because it took him from his comfortable, sheltered life- and making some very unlikely friends in the process. This trilogy should not be missed.

I think if this was a stand alone film I would score it lower, but if you haven't watched the first two I'm sure you aren't watching this. I think Peter Jackson did a nice job of spreading out JRs work and making this a trilogy. The extra 20 minutes include more battle scenes mostly, but in the context of the three movies this was a very nice finally. Love the end between Gandolf and Bilboa and how they lead into the more epic Lord of the Rings!

As expected, some nice visuals and special effects, lots of combat, and some 'creative twists' to the original story with added characters and such. Overall, this was solid, but they should have stuck to their initial plan of two movies vs. the three. A bit much when you put them altogether.
I didn't even care that much that they shoved Evangeline Lilly in there with her whole character and etc., however, I do have a problem with whatever the hell they did with her hair...yeah yeah yeah, elf. But it somehow made her not hot. How is that possible? Way to blow it guys.
Haha, anyways, the movie wraps up this trilogy decently and if you're a fan of the series, hopefully it won't disappoint you.

A solid final entry in the last installment of The Hobbit trilogy. Significantly shorter than the two previous efforts but it still clocks in at well over two hours. A little more serious throughout than the first two but is also a bit more lean and to the point. You get the feeling the budget was tightening or the filmmakers ran out of ideas in this one. It feels very fragmented compared to the others even though we eventually reach the end. Feels more like an outline as some major events seem to be rushed, especially what we see of Smaug and Sauron. Still, more and better action and adventure than you'll find in other films, so definitely worth checking out. But don't miss the book!

I read some bad reviews for this third film in the Hobbit trilogy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was the best of the three. Unfortunately because of a busy schedule I wasn't able to see this one in the theaters, so the blu-ray was my first viewing. I don't know what kind of a difference that would make in my opinion of the movie, but I thought Peter Jackson did another great job and I love this trilogy and the Lord of the Rings also.

The last of the Hobbit movies, this did a fine job of wrapping the story up. The tie-ins to the Lord of the Rings movies introduced here and in the other Hobbit movies, tie-ins with characters and events carried over from the Lord of the Rings movies, might annoy some viewers, because they were not found in the book. However, considering that the Hobbit was a prequel to the Lord of the Rings, I found those alterations acceptable.

It is a fate of this movie trilogy to be compared with LOTR. As you may already know, the length of the hobbit is quite short compared with LOTR, many feel that making the hobbit in the trilogy is just movie makers' ambition nothing but for money. After watching the last finale, I have to agree with that opinion.
Unlike LOTR, to make them trilogy, there are too many episodes distracting the main plot, so at the time of watching this finale, I could not recall what happened in the previous two movies so far.
Then, I had to start it over from the first movie to catch up all the plot.
However, the movie itself is fascinating and clear sharp screen.
Recommended.
