This isn't a review of the movie itself...just the product. Love having both a blu ray and a digital copy. And the key...love it. I collect old keys, and even though this is a replica, it's much heavier and more solid than I thought. Originally, I thought it would just be a plastic piece of junk. I was pleasantly surprised. Looks cool enough to hang.

I'm a huge Tolkien fan. At first I was skeptical how they could make 3 movies out of one book. But Peter Jackson did a really good job. I always liked the Beorn character, and liked seeing him and his house in the movie. I also enjoyed seeing more of Radhagast and the Mirkwood elves. I love all the extra features to watch as well.

If there's a way to make an already great movie even better then I think Peter Jackson has done just that. I liked the extended edition of the first movie but found it had some annoying things added (such as the troll kings song). I really liked this one because it didn't add in immature or cheesy content. This is the version of the movie to watch.

As usual, these extended versions of the Rings series have been wonderfully designed to add scenes and details that fill in gaps in the story. This edition is no exception and is a another perfect example of how to do it right. The additional content is seamless. Although I don't like having to buy separate versions, I do because I love these films!

This is a great 3D/Blu-ray film. You'll want to have it if you have the 'Unexpected' 1st film. The sets were spectacular (although, again, not as good as the 1st film), all the actors are there doing what they do best, and Peter Jackson's direction and filming do not disappoint. However, I thought the overall film moved slowly. Many of the scenes were quite dark and the tone of it was much more somber than the 1st. I don't feel this film delivered the goods to stand on its own. Even so, I'm still looking forward to the finale coming to the theater in Dec. 2014.

This second part of the Hobbit trilogy is another great trip into the world created by Peter Jackson and Tolkien. This movie has tons of action, humor, an awesome dragon, and sets up what will be an epic final movie in the trilogy. If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings of the first Hobbit film, then purchasing this movie in a no-brainer! Buy it now!

Taken as a whole the movie is entertaining, and includes a certain level of goofy child humor/outrageousness that helps you remember that the book was not an adult novel like the LotR or Silmarillion. However, it suffers from standard "middle movie" issues. Namely, it starts by reminds you what was happening in movie 1, but doesn't resolve anything (that's for movie 3). Being a fan, I enjoyed the extra story development, but felt they didn't create anything worth a good end of movie climax. The end they were building to is what will be in the 3rd installment.

I saw the hobbit, desolation of smaug in the theatre with my son and couldn't wait for it to be released on bluray so I could see it again. The split second I came home with it, I popped that bad boy in and the whole family sat and watched it. What a fantastic movie for all ages.

If you loved the Hobbit as a kid, whether it was the book or the animated you'll love the second installment. I can't wait till the next and final part is in theaters. The only thing I disliked is that you have to switch disks in the middle of the movie and that some parts the 3D are a bit off. But only in crowded moment in the beginning of the movie.

The second installment of the Hobbit movies was really fun to watch. The Dwarves are great characters, and the Orcs chasing them are a nice sub-plot. the Backstory of things leading into the Lord of the Rings movies is interesting, and getting to see more of legolas was cool. Smaug was Awesome! Terrifying, arrogant, everything you want in a Dragon.

I am a huge fan of LOTR and The Hobbit. I've read all the books and own all the movies. While I enjoyed the first Hobbit movie, this one contains all the elements that made the LOTR's movies such a success. There is a lot more action, and sense of urgency in this film. What a cliffhanger! I look forward to the final installment this December!!!

I never thought it was possible to surpass the Lord of the Rings movies, but the two Hobbit films have given them a run for their money. This second installment was even better than the first. No matter how many times I watch the dwarves in their escape from the elves down the river in barrels, it never gets old. I recommend this film for everyone!

This is an excellent must watch movie, filled with action through out, if you've read the book though... you'll have to keep an open mind, just watch it without the expectation of being a 100% faithful adaptation of the book, apart from that, no regrets, have watched it already a few times (which is no small feat given the length of these movies!!

This is the second part of the trilogy and continues where the first movie left off. It comes with a code that can be used to download the movie to a computer and a second disc with extra information and cast interviews. If you like the "The Hobbit" this is an great addition to your video library, but you will need all 3 parts for a complete movie.

A treat for the eyes. Beautifully shot, expertly acted, excellently written. It is better than the first installment of "The Hobbit, " and that was a wonderful movie! If you've read all of Tolkien's books (as I have), you will absolutely love this movie--I HIGHLY recommend it! Read the book, then watch the movie, and you will double your enjoyment!

I never saw any if The Hobbit films in the theaters. Instead I bought them all on 3D BluRay. I'm a little obsessed with buying and 3D Bluray movie. I loved all the LOTR trilogy movies and new I'd like these. This one kinda strayed off of Bilbo's storyline and was more about the main character taking his mountain back from Smaug. I forget his name.

I want to love the Hobbit series. I really do. But Jackson has taken a short fun book with engaging characters and some cool action and tried to create an Epic. He's tried to recreate LOTR. But the fact is he probably had too much budget and too much leeway. The film is slow and bloated and not entirely true to the source material. And yet, I still love Jackson's Middle Earth and the races and characters within. So while I may not Love this film, I do really like it. And Blu-ray is the only way to watch it. Get the trilogy. No regrets.

Special effects were amazing. Smaug was awesome...Benedict Cumberbatch was perfect as the voice of Smaug. Yes, the movie deviated from the book and embellished the story (I knew this would be inevitable when I first heard that there would be 3 installments), I still enjoyed the movie experience & seeing the characters come to life on the screen.

My family absolutely loved watching The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on Blu-Ray. The graphics were superb and sound quality was just like watching it in the movie theater (without any distractions). We were so glad to have waited for this extended edition. I look forward to the next installment of the series to come out on Blu-Ray, too!

Peter Jackson makes long movies...and then he makes them longer. I thoroughly enjoy the extended editions he has presented including this one. Frankly, I am not a fan of most fantasy movies, and find Tolkien to be ponderous...settle down!, but I definitely enjoy the LOTR series and The Hobbit series. Two movies would have been fine though.
