If you don't like the Tolken stories, then you probably won't like it. There isn't much of a review I can write on buying a blue ray product. It was a good quality picture, but heck I will watch a 1980s TV. I'm not a pixel freak. I watch for the story, not the cinematography.

This is a much worthy item to purchase if your a fan. This not only includes a extensive amount of unseen footage but it tells a story in a much better fashion than the original cut did. The bonus item the key to the mountain is good quality that feels and looks amazing.

All three of the Hobbit movies were each epic in their own way, but if you have a 3D set up at home, it's definitely the way to go. It looks fantastic on a projection screen and the 3D is very well done as long as you have a good set of glasses.

Much like the LOTR series, in The Hobbit Trilogy,the first movie was setting the story and the characters up, the second movie begins to pickup speed and has more action. Yes, we have seen much of it before, but when it is done so well does it really matter ? Watch and enjoy.

If you wanted to see alot of middle earth you even get to hear more ork language and elelvish language a different story than the book which is nice you get a little unexpected story and the new and last movie should be the best yet but this is a great ride to get to the end.

I have all The Lord of the ring movies and the hobbit 1 and 2. This movie is very long but if you're a true lord of the rings fan it's worth the buy. However if your not you'll probably end up falling asleep or won't understand half of it. I recommend for L.O.T.R fans only

Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" films are GREAT and "The Hobbit" films are really good ~ it's difficult not to compare the two. "The Hobbit" films are well produced and visually striking and a must see if you're into the genre. Looking forward to the final installment.

Not sure how many extras you can put on these DVDs at this point since this is the 5th movie in the series and the format and technical featurettes would probably be rehashing the other 4 movies. The movie itself is really good and meets the standard set by its predecessors. Smaug is awesome and, just like the other films, it leaves you wanting more at the end. This was killer in the theaters and worth adding to the home video collection.

At this point, it's kinda obvious as to how this review's gonna go. For the movie itself, it's fantastic and is a vast improvement over its predecessor, which tended to drag in parts. The rest of the set, however.....there's not much here to criticize, and that's the problem. Seems as if they hold back all the supplementals for the now-obligatory Extended Editions. The DVDs for Lord of the Rings did not have this problem. What gives, WB?!

Big fan of the Middle Earth stories/movies. Great movie to watch in HD, very clear and detailed. Didn't know the extended version was coming out so soon or would have grabbed that instead. But I guess I'll wait until the extended trilogy comes out to grab another copy.

I got this awesome movie on blu ray shipped free and paid with a gift card from best buy ..! The product is high quality as usual for best buy movies. Picture and sound are worth watching it over and over. I can say it pays being a customer...!

I'll admit I'm spoiled by the huge Lord of the Rings extended editions, and of course I realise the Hobbit is a single book made into three movies. That being said, this cut of the movie felt much the same as the theatrical. Thankfully, there's tons of bonus content to make up for it, and I'm a completist when it comes to this stuff. So it's worth it, especially considering the sale price and bonus rewards I cashed in towards it!

Peter Jackson's visual interpretation of all of Tolkien's works has been nothing short of exceptional every time. Ever since the first Lord of the Rings. I have been well pleased with his images of Middle Earth.

I wait ten months every time to buy the extended versions of these movies and it is always worth it. This exact one being more important than any other thus far. I highly recommend that any true fan of this amazing saga take the time to view this. Great movie as usual

great movie and great transfer to blu-ray. I like getting the blu-ray, dvd and digital copy in one package. for some reason this thing is making me write areview with 50 words so i carry on all about nothing until i hit that magical mark which should be in a few more words

Our family loves this series and didn't get a chance to see it at the theater. We waited until it came out on DVD and bought it right away. The ending has us so anxious to see the next one. We'll be buying that on DVD too at Best Buy when it comes out. Highly recommended!

Loved everything about it. The story is great and ties directly to the LOTR trilogy. The 3D Blu-Ray is the way to go since you get the 3D version, the 2D on both Blu-Ray and DVD, a disk of bonus material and an Ultra Violet copy to watch anytime on line. Highly recommend.

Was really excited to finally be able to watch the second installment of the Hobbit trilogy as I had missed it in the theaters. I was concerned that the 3D effects and overall "awe" would not be there but I was wrong. Completely enjoyed all aspects (except loading time).

The movie was already good, but adding the extra scenes made it so much better. Originally, I wanted extended edition only. I did not care about getting some cheap plastic key prop. However, the key is solid metal, and pretty cool. Key or no, I recommend getting this

The hobbit/lord of the rings is one of my favorite book series. Love that it was made into a film series that mostly captures the events of the book. The only thing that I have trouble with when books are made into movies is that they don't always completely capture the story as imagined and told by the author. There are generally embellishments and some of the best parts get left out. I think this is definitely true of The Hobbit.
