The industry skewed the pooch they should have waited until 4K for the 3D. Edge artifacts are minimized and the 4K blue ray players smooth out and reduce the judder even more. The home is by far the best place to watch 3D and this movie rocks!!!

First, I am a huge fan of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I enjoyed the 1st installment of the Hobbit, An unexpected Journey. Was pleased when the second part released, and very happy that most of the cast from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy returned to reprise their roles for this prequel. I was pleased that the story follows so closely to the original books. Anxious to see the final installment of the Hobbit trilogy.

What more can be said about The Hobbit. It's one of the most famous pieces of literature. The movies captures the essence of the book quite well and there is such beautiful scenery, acting and special effects. This is a must have and looks just amazing in bluray.

As a Hobbit fan, I found this to be enjoyable and action packed. The movie does take some liberties that were not accurate to the original story line. But, as a way to spend a couple of hours entertained, this was a good choice. Blu Ray is the way to watch this flick.

Fabulous is all I have to say... It's a great addition to the Lord of the Rings... The movie captures your attention right away. Starting from the previous movie so you wouldn't be lost in this movie. The graphics are utterly amazing. Well worth the money and time

As for the movie, I liked this better than Unexpected Journey. There is better action, and more of it, and we get to see Smaug. He is very impressive once you see him, Plus we have the return of Legolas, which is great. The BR transfer looks very good and sounds great.

The movie was great and I really enjoyed the special effects. Not sure that I enjoyed this one as much as the first one, but it was still great. I always enjoy movies with great special effects. Can't wait to see the next one, but of course I have no control over that!

Having been a fan of the original book since reading it back in 1979, I knew some liberties must be taken to make this story as 'epic' as Jacksons adaptation of the trilogy. Unlike 'the trilogy', the screen adaptation of The Hobbit falls well short of expectations on many levels. For this, the second of what will be for some reason, three movies, we see some amazing visuals... some ultra cheesy visuals... and a few plot additions that have absolutely NOTHING to do with 'The Hobbit' in the first place. I am not going to spoil anything for anybody... but be prepared for some real 'eye rollers'. Having said that, this particular movie stands head and shoulders above the first one. Even with the cheesy elements, this is a movie well worth your time as there are so many things that succeed.

I am a LOTR geek and it wasn't until I watched an interview with Lee Pace (Thranduil) that I got interested in The Hobbit. I'm so glad I purchased these movies, they are fantastic! And the BluRay is superb! I wish I had a 3D tv so I could watch that version too!

The story is great, the world created is detailed, intriguing and easy to lost in. The special effects are very good and bring the world to life. The characters look (make up and costumes fit the books. It's fun to have the same cast cross over from the LOR trilogy.

Even though every J.R.R. Tolkein fan knows the films do not stick precisely to the novel, Peter Jackson spins a terrific yarn. His visualization of Middle Earth is much like how I always imagined it to be. Thank you Peter Jackson for incredible vision and imagination.

This is a great movie and wanted to buy the extended cut, but didn't want to put down the money for it. When I saw this in June, I just went online and spent the money. The case is the best of the "The Hobbit" movies, and you get 50% more for the same price.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug was already an improvement on An Unexpected Journey, but the extended edition of Peter Jackson's middle chapter smoothes over the bumps that did exist. In particular, the sections at Beorn's house and Mirkwood feel less rushed, less frenetic. The extra discs are packed, but the overall theme seems to be explaining how two movies became three - it's a fascinating peek behind the curtain...

Took my son to the theater to see this movie in December and bought the DVD the day it was released. One of best movies I've seen in a while. The cliffhanger at the very end will leave you on the edge of your seat. Can't wait for the final installment in this trilogy!

Part 2 picks up where the first one ends of course. This installment is not so frantic with the action as part one, yet still moves along at a good clip. The addition of Legolas into the story is slightly gratuitous, but it plays out well. Can't wait for the next one!

I can't wait for the end of the trilogy! The was a great chapter in Jackson's retelling of Tolkien's works. Jackson's passion in the story is evident in each film, and this one is no different. I'm glad these films have been made! A great own for any Middle Earth fan.

I always hold out for the Extended Editions and I'm never disappointed. This had the extra bonus of the prop replica of Thorin's key. It's a high quality replica from The Noble Collection. The picture is excellent on the blu-ray and the sound quality is amazing.

The Desolation of Smaug bluray has plenty of features to keep you engaged from an outstanding picture to whole disc of extras. Just be prepared for a long movie with some of slow plot moments but overall the movie is a worthy second installment of the Hobbit series.

Crazy about The Hobbit! Wasn't sure how they could make three full length movies out of that little book! There were plots added that were not in the book, like the girl elf, but it all fit in perfectly! Do far the movies have not disappointed, can't wait for #three!

Peter Jackson is such a great director. Everything to do with the movie just makes you feel like you are there. It's beautifully done. I love the actors, the plot, the majesty that he creates. I can't wait for the next one. This man truly has a gift for movie making.
