THIS REVIEW IS ABOUT THE 3D VERSION ONLY. SIMPLY PUT, IT DIDN'T TRANSLATE WELL TO 3D BECAUSE THE SUBJECT MATTER WAS TOO DARK. I FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO WATCH, AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE 3D VERSION TO ANYONE.

Decent movie, but doesn't do the books justice

The movie was very entertaining, but Jackson added too much additional material that was never in the books. As a long-time Tolkien fan, I was very disappointed at how much he diverged from the books.

I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings. I didn't complain about those changes because for the most part they were omissions . With the Hobbit the story had so much added the charm of the original is all but lost.

It's a great movie, but we all know there will shortly be a super deluxe directors cut version. So, you might want to wait. It wouldn't play correctly on my Blu-ray player until I updated the firmware.

Great movie but keeps stopping. Hard to watch, the DVD keeps stopping and stays stopped for a couple of minutes than plays again. Great movie but would better if it would play straight through.

This was a very good movie, bought it for my husband but found myself very into it. It had a good plot, interesting characters and excitement all the way through. Digital download is confusing .

I love the original Hobbit book, but not these stretched out versions with a heavy emphasis on the battle scenes. great if you like all the orcs, etc, and lots of sword play...

I believe this movie should have stayed as 1. There was clearly not enough plot to stretch out in 3 movies no matter what anyone says it could have easily been 1 3 hour movie.

This movie did nothing for the series of movies it all most appear it was a bunch of out takes made into a movie. It did nothing to develop the characters and it truly fail to suspend belief with the action...truth is I kept hoping the Orcs would succeed in there slaying of the Dwarves...and the romance was a joke, I meet yo, capture you, lock you up and I am in love willing to risk all was a joke. The series has been to well done to throw junk like this out and I wish I had red boxes it instead of the purchase

In order to understand the movie someone must have read the book, since the movie is a word for word imagination interpretation movie or have seen the first Hobbit film.

Not the best story line, but that what happens when you make a trilogy out of one book. It felt like they spent 30 minutes on the movie floating down the river in barrels.

I think that it should have only been two movies. It seems like it drags too much.

It was an ok movie but a little on the long side. I think there were definitely parts in there they could have cut out and you wouldn't have missed anything.

Better movie than the first. The 3D-ness was also much better, especially in the lake town. Overall more entertaining, looking forward to the conclusion.

Well since it's part of a trilogy, of course everyone is going to see it. However, that said, it was just a little long and drawn out for my taste.

Fans will like this movie. It is more entertaining than the Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey but not quite up to par with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I have all the LOR films. That is why I rate this one at only 3 stars. It is a good film but by comparison to the other LOR films only average.

I'm not a great Hobbit fan but I actually enjoyed this movie. The 3D is pretty hit and miss so I couldn't really recommend it for its 3D value.

This is the weakest of the trilogy and introduces characters not in the rest of the story, which makes it seem overly long.
