    I bought this because my daughter is a fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbitt franchises...however, we were rudely disappointed by the story line/plot. for the length of this movie it was a waste of a Fri evening... If it wasn't for the visual effects, this would have received "2Thumbs down"

    After a boring first film, I was looking for just one thing in this film to be great: Bilbo's encounter with Smaug. Boy, it was an incredible letdown—and what follows it was not much different than the most most absurd action scenes from the Star Wars prequels.

    The first and second series of the hobbit equally sucked. It was well done. The story lines were lame. I fell asleep during part of it and I don't care to go back to catch up on it. I probably won't rush out to see number three.

    The second installment in the Hobbit series was a horrible disappointment for those who enjoyed the first (the converse also seems to hold). Jackson's added material takes away from the plot more than helps move it along.
