Great special effects but story is a bit drawn out.

I picked up all 3 of the hobbit films on a sale best buy had. However this one did not come with a digital copy, which was strange because the other two standard edition Blu Rays did.

I think is not the best of the saga, Lord of the ring really was more tha great, the first Hobbit was very good but this one didn't satisfy me

The film is absolutely a waste of talent, special effects & fails to create suspense & drama. The movie does throw in a good love romance between the only lead female character in the film, but this film destroys all the best elements of the book. When I was watching this longwinded tale, I couldn't help but be reminded of Peter Jackson's failed attempt of creating entertainment with Jackson version of KING KONG. This film is a waste of your time and money wait for it on cable, and prepare yourself for a good nights rest.

WHAT IS THIS ? Isn't film making supposed to get BETTER through out time? This sequel is worse than the original, the only good parts are with SMAUG but even that becomes filled with ridiculous, cartooned action stunts! They have ruined a good book, sucked all the suspense & build ups & sub story themes & made a BLOATED, POINTLESS STORY! If you want a good fantasy film see Willow or Dragon Slayer, stay away from this nearly 3 hour mess. No wonder why girls don't like these Hobbit films, they are a waste of time and they BORRING!

THE BAD: Pointless characters & sub plots (think sequels to Pirates of the Pirates of the Caribbean) RUNNING TIME- almost 3 HOURS ! Silly cartoon like CG stunts as seen in films like: (The Lone Ranger, King Kong, Catwoman) No real sense of suspense or exposition of characters & environment, it remind me of Peter Jackson attempt with King Kong.
