This movie was equal to the other Tolkien movies produced. The scenery was beautiful. The music was enchanting. The attention to details made it worthwhile to watch what others might consider too long a movie. I am looking forward to the next movie.

Once aging Peter Jackson has done an outstanding job with the series. I loved this movie. You need to get it on Blu Ray with the Digital Copy so you can watch it with the best quality and also have it available on any movie device. Highly recommend

The movie was visually stunning. I really enjoyed the acting and the action scenes. The river chase was extremely entertaining. Maybe one of my favorite parts. I go to the movie to get away from reality. I do not look for deep hidden philosophical meanings. I go for action adventure and a few things that would make you think. All in all a wonderful second installment in the trilogy. I would recommend.

I loved the CGI for the dragon. It was awesome. The movie very good, but could have been cut down a little. It was a little over the top how the elves came across as invincible when fighting the orcs along the river. If they were that invincible there wouldn't have been a ware. But I love the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies anyway for the world, characters and story.

The hobbit desolation of smaug is by far the best movie so far in the hobbit series and really is an enjoyable movie in every respect. Excellent acting, plot, dialogue and of course visually stunning on blue ray, it is a movie that many will enjoy.

I am not big on action movies, but I enjoyed this one very much. I enjoyed the costumes and the scenery. The small details that are worked into the plot are very creative, such as the tools, the hairdos on the dwarfs, etc. I feel the movie is a real eye full. Of course Gollum 's character is fun to watch. The expressions on his face are supreme. He is horrible and somehow lovably pathetic .

Like the other Tolkien movies they have added a lot of extra footage. More extra's, better packaging and the bonus key is pretty cool as well. The movie itself is fantastic. One of the few cases where the movie is SO much better than the book.

Great second movie to the triology! A little more action than the first. It was great to see Legolas back. Finally, Smaug has been revealed. Wonderful CGI as always. Cannot wait until the 3rd installment as well as the extended version of the 2nd!

I am partial to the Hobbit movies because in school it was one of the books that our librarian would read to the class. I love all the little details that are in the movies. They are great for families and this week our movie night was this movie.

What's to say, it is the second installment in the Hobbit series and equally amazing as the first. I can't wait for the third movie to hit the theaters. As always Best Buy has presented the movie in an affordable package with all formats included.

Excellent Movie. The best thing about this edition is that it tends to follow the book more than the theatrical version. The added content really helps the story line by making easier to understand. Tolkien lovers will love the added content.

I first saw this film without 3D and loved it, but now I have seen it in 3D and it brought out a whole new perspective to the movie. It was easier to get involved with the story and characters. It was AWESOME!

So much better than the Hobbit! I'm a huge LOTR fan so I automatically liked The Hobbit, but it was slightly boring. The Desolation of Smaug was action packed and suspensefully delightful, a must have in high def! Looks amazing on my 4K LED.

Cant say enough great things about the cinematography and animation, just GREAT! In my uneducated opinion theres a need for more background info related to how each life form (or ethnic group) came to relating to each other in the way that they do, ie., dwarfs are disliked by the Wood-elfs. Finally, where does the Male Dwarf/Female Wood-elf infatuation go from here? Overall its a VERY GOOD TEASER!

As with the first part of the hobbit this is also very well done. The movie makers did a great job pulling in parts that are not in the hobbit but in the appendix of the Lord of the rings books. This is of course made all the better on blue ray.

Much better effort than "Unexpected Journey," they kept the extra stuff to more interesting things like what Gandalf is up to. Still, especially in the scenes set at dusk you will see how unforgiving HD is. Every color grading flaw is magnified.
