All 3 Hobbit extended version movies EXCELLENT, especially Part III, Battle of the Five Armies. The portions left out of original movies are worth the extended version buys!! Recommend them!

The extended editions of the Hobbit trilogy are worth purchasing. The theatrical version of "The Desolation of Smaug" is great, but there is so much more in the extended version for a more complete story. We really enjoyed it.

I watch this movie first time on a flight going from Houston to Paris. I fell asleep at some part of the movie. I guess at some part it was dragging out abit and could not keep my attention. However, the plot was very good and the cinematography was decent based on a small screen. When I got back, I bought the 3D version to watch and it really shine here. Overall, a good movie.

This movie is one my favorites. I like all the action scenes. Special effects is what really lured me in to this movie. We have a home theater system and it sounds amazing. The ending was interesting. It definitely let's you know there is a second part to this movie. Overall good acting my wife liked it, but was just not to into it. So that tells me there was something missing.

This is a classic book brought to the big screen. Great version of the Tolkien book. The only problem is that it takes three movies to tell the story. Overall it has been a great ride to this point. lets hope that they keep it going.

The movie is ... well, its your thing or its not! My wife LOVES it, its not my thing. But it is an absolutely GORGEOUS looking film and the 3D is stunning. As far as showing off what your 3D player and TV can do, you can't go wrong.

The second in the "Hobbit" Trlogy. Love the cinematography. The bluray makes it better. The action is nonstop and the return of Orlando Bloom, brings back an element from the 1st series that was my favorite. Recommend with 4 stars.

Amazon only offered 3D in a collector's package. It was originally listed at $99. I don't need any collector's garbage, so looked around and found this option. 3D, Blu-Ray & digital copy. All I was looking for at half the price.

We thought the previews on tv looked like it would be a great show to go with the rest of the previous dvds in our collection. The characters seemed to jump out of the tv and some of them scared my wife. I think it is a great movie.

The Desolation of Smaug is well worth owning.

The Desolation of Smaug was captivating and a welcome addition to the collection from the Middle Earth by Peter Jackson. This Blu Ray will fill in the time when TV/Cable has a bad night and programming the DVR isn't worth the time.

I am so glad I got the extended DVD! I love all of Peter Jackson's Middle Earth movies but the extended versions make each a fuller story that is rich with detail and adds layers previously unseen to the characters and story!

Been waiting for it to come out so I can run to pick up where the first one left me hanging. This movie is just as good if not better but it leaves you hanging just the same. If only there were teasers as to what's next. Good movie

But, such is life! Movies don't just happen. Guess I'll have to wait to see the ending just like the rest of the world. I just watched it last night. I wait for the DVD to come out. It beats dealing with rude people at the theatre.

I have long been a fan of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. I am pleased that Peter Jackson has made the companion story to the Lord of the Rings.....it completes the story. Anxiously awaiting the third movie in the series....

Great movie. Many people may complain with the excess of new material compared to the source book, but this movie has a story that does entertain and doesn't compromise pace and originality for a verbatim translation of the novel.

I love the picture and audio quality. These Hobbit extended edition sets are made with great care and have high quality bonus features. I would have liked to have seen more commentary tracks as with the LOTR extended editions, but what's included is very good. The extended scenes don't seem as important to me as with the LOTR sets, but they're still good to have.

Even though there are a couple of parts that seemed to drag on, this movie is still a fun and exciting one to see and to add to your collection. The story moves along, the fight scenes are great, and the cinematography is amazing.

Not much to say, other than left me excited for the final movie in the series. Lots of great action, continued storyline of Middle Earth, does a great job of tying together the first Hobbit movie and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I read the Hobbit long before the movies were made. The scope and imagery is impressive. Each movie is good, but it takes all three to tell the whole story. This episode seems to leave the most unanswered questions.

All in all a great movie. Yet a couple of the actors seemed a bit off. Primarily my only complaints were some of the deviations from the book (which, thankfully, I haven't read in ages so I could still enjoy the movie). My daughter just read the book and didn't care for the movie for this reason. Personally, however, I enjoyed it though, like all of these movies, it is long.
