I love the LOTR and Hobbit movies. But the cartoonish action can sometimes be a bit over the top. Finally, Smaug was incredible...but the fight scenes seemed to drag on too long there as well. Truthfully, The Hobbit trilogy would have been better as two movies instead of three. But still a wonderful series, and a wonderful film!

this set is so good. lord of the rings is in my top 5 movies of all times so this one will be added to that collection. well worth the power to run the tv. one of the best movies I have seen this year.

This is a great movie and at the higher frame rate per second adds a realism to Smuag like no other CGI company has been able to do before. Great work and my family and I can't wait for the finale!!!!!

Awesome movie. A lot of action in this movie, the village scene was amazing. Once again the character development is awesome. You can really feel the family vibe in the group of characters

This is the definitive version of the movie to own. With almost an extra half-hour of never before scenes from the original theatrical release, this is the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit at its best.

I dont own very many dvd's; however, I do own the two Hobbit Series dvd's along with the Lord of the Rings Series. I would have to say that this last one, "The Desolation of Smaug" is the best so far.

The second of three movies. This one delivers lots of action that sets you up for the final film. Those people that have read the book may be surprised by some additional material that is in the film.

I enjoyed watching the continuing series to the other movies, finding out more about each movie and how they tie in to each other. Waiting for another movie to come. The characters are great to watch.

What's not to like? Action, visual effects and drama. Does it get better? Okay - maybe it's a bit long, but we've enjoyed it a couple of times already and are looking forward to the upcoming film.

This story picks up after the end of The Unexpected Journey and continues with battles and chases throughout the film until it reaches the cliff hanger at the end . Can hardly wait till the next film.

Not the greatest movie but it’s not bad if you love LOTR

I loved this movie when it was in theaters, when I had the chance to grab it, I did. I haven't opened it or it's prequel, I'm waiting until I have the last one on Bluray then I'll marathon the saga.

The Hobbit was always one of my favorite stories growing up. I have read it a dozen times and have watched the original animated version. This version of the story is so much more! Well worth owning!

Like the other "Hobbit" movies , keeps everyone engrossed in the movie. All the acting , action scenes and especially Smaug .. fantastic special effects on creating the dragon . Fantasy at it's best.

Another outstanding film in the MIddle Earth saga. What is there to say? Brilliant performances, excellent visual effects, classic story. How long until the final movie of the trilogy is released??

Excellent action movie like all the previous Hobbit films. Spectacular special effects throughout the film. Don't hesitate buying this latest Hobbit movie, as you will enjoy it from beginning to end.

This movie is going into one of my favorite of all time,the story line the character everything is almost perfect,it comes close to the book,but for a few changes. Can't wait till the part 3 is out.

I have never read any of the Hobbit books, but the Middle Earth landscapes are beyond imagination. Peter Jackson's filmography could not be better. Characters have depth and all-too-human qualities.

It filled all the key points that were missing from the first release. I may sell the first release since there is no need to own both. If you waited you were smart , great movie in all aspects.
