If you were following the lord of the rings this movie is the second installment of the hobbit prequel to them. This is where it all began. Having read the books it is nice to see them as movies.

This movie is even better than the first of the series. Although the hobbit as a whole has not been as good as our first adventure into middle earth, it definitely is a good movie to enjoy.

The movie itself is enjoyable. However, they should have taken off the "specials" and extras and all that from the main movie disks, and just had the movie on one disk. I'm not sure if that was possible, but I would think it would be. It takes away from the movie to watch it, then stop to put in disk 2 to finish it.

Breezes by, a perfect film. Exciting, touching, beautiful. The Hobbit films are in spirit so different from LOTR, and it works wonderfully. In 3D, you're absorbed right into the sets and action.

I love these movies and while The Hobbit is not quite on par with The Lord of the Rings it is still extremely enjoyable. This one is very good with the elves and the dragon. I could care less that it doesn't follow the book because I like watching it too much to complain. Lee Pace is excellent as Thranduil. Go watch it now.

Most have loved the Lord of the Rings saga, and this entry, The Hobbit with 1 & 2 now out, is so intense and the graphics are wonderful, I cannot see how any fan would not enjoy this new entry.

This is a great movie and I personally love the extended editions of the LotRs and Hobbit movies. Great little additions that you get if you read the books.

I love the LOTR and Hobbit movies. Grew up on the books. Desolation of Smaug covers the book quite well (of course fans will find the intricate details Jackson left out). It's worth owning.

Excellent sequel or second verse to the first hobbit movie. Good action and special effects are amazing. The bonus features are high quality if you have the time to really browse through them.

OK bottom line did you enjoy LOTR's, you in need to see this. Did you enjoy hobbit 1, you need to see this. Are you a purest who can handle deviations from the original book? Pass this up.

Part 2 of 3 is another hit!!! One for the Collectible shelves. Just like The original, the Collectors/Director's Edition is always the best to watch. Great nastalgia value!

A great way to follow up the first part. This movie has all the awesome features of the first one. The Blu-ray 3D movie set has everything you need to view the movie like being in a 3D theater.

Epic way to tell the story in 3 parts. As usual Peter Jackson choice of actors and presentation is excellent. At least the 3D effects are better than the last 2 movies from Marvel (Captain America 2 and Thor 2). It was fun to know Benedict Cumberbatch was voicing the dragon, sort of like Sherlock talking to Watson (Bilbo).

At last, I found out how Peter Jackson was managing to make three movies out of The Hobbit. TDoS is definitely a middle movie and cannot stand up on its own. The story lone doesn't progress very far, but the acting, cinematography and action scenes make this an interesting entry into the franchise despite a weak storyline.

Some 3-d movies don't cut it but this one is worth they hype! Great color and the effects are fantastic!!! Can't wait to get the 3rd installment. Also have the first movie in the trilogy!

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is an enjoyable movie as long as you take it for what it is. It is NOT an accurate portrayal of Tolkien's novel. However, as a blockbuster action-packed fantasy film, the movie is a lot of fun. I liked this film better than the first "Hobbit" and I am looking forward to the third movie.

Its a great movie if you tend to like these type of movie. Otherwise you will be bored to death. I personally dont like these types of movies. But wife and other family members loved the movie

This movie is a great follow-up to the first one. It is actually better because if provides a greater insight into the characters and has more action. Benedict Cumberpatch is amazing as Smaug.

This was a great movie. I never read the books so I love that this I a new story to me. It really flows well with the 1st movie!! Recommend this to anyone that's likes a good adventure movie!!

This is the continuation of the Hobbit Trilogy. Much more action than the first movie, with a cliffhanger ending. The 3D is one of the best I have seen on the home version. Recommended Highly.
