it was a great follow up to the first hobbit and should help to lead in to the third movie and therefore help to appreciate th lord of the ring series

Personally, I'd rather sacrifice a little off the video quality so I wouldn't have to change the disk in the middle of the 3D movie. We've watched it a few times with the kids, and it's a better experience without that disruption. We just watch the 2D version now.

big fan of Tolkien and this series. have read all the books several times and am very impressed with the graphics and detail to the actual story lline

It's a good sequel in a secondary trilogy. As usual the effects are good and the costumes are better. Exactly what you would expect from a LOTR movie.

A picture paints a thousand words, but here, Jackson does the reverse. This is the second part to a trilogy that should have been two films at the most. Jackson borrows from every secodary source imaginable and also takes creative liberties to make a dramatic, romantic, comedic, action-packed sequel to his first film that made everyone want less. However, SPOILER ALERT, the title is a misnomer. If you want to see the desolation of Smaug, you will have to wait for part three. Ultimately, the movie is an essential piece to the story, as Jackson realizes, that any collector will be obliged to purchase. It is not a bad movie, but it is disappointing that Jackson couldn't fulfill the title in all 161 minutes (181 extended version).

Peter Jackson continues the glamorous journey thru middle earth. You will be glad to enjoy the ride. Great characters, story & cinematic landscape.

Movie was non stop action and the 3D part just blew me away peter jackson really out did his self cant wait for the next hobbit adventure to come out.

Loved seeing the movie in 3D! Can't wait for the next one. Didn't know New Zealand was so picturesque. It's a beautiful location to film this trilogy.

This movie is the continuation of the Hobbit, which is the lead in to LOR. It is a great prequel for the series. Can't wait for the third installment.

As a fan of the books and original trilogy, this is more of the same. Lots of fun, great special effects and I'm ready for the next film to come out!

Dunno what else to say, I just love the series. I never got to watch it at the movie theater, but my big screen and surround sound made up for it.

This was a really fun movie to watch because of the engaging nature of the plot. The action scenes were very dramatic and fast paced excitement. At times you laugh and others you are on the edge of your seat. The settings and scenery are very well constructed too.

Missed it at the theater, was going to wait for the Extended edition....will still get it!LOL! Good cinematography, effects, and lots of action.

These movies are a great compliment to the books. Especially good for those who never read them. I love all of these. As always best buy delivers.

It is a great movie though not anywhere as to the quality of LOTR. The movie is my 3rd favorite in the Hobbit trilogy. 8/10

This is the standard (theater) release and not the extended release, which is more expensive. A lot more. This was a good buy for this movie.

i think this movie was better than the first a lot of action and now cant wait for the third! the extras come in the second disc which is in blue ray

The extended cut of this movie is great, every extra minute is worth watching. Already bought the theatrical version, but this one is even better.

Hard to say a lot and not give away the movie but good movie in all if you have seen the first part then you know there is three parts to this story.
